The owner was an absolute JOY and was incredibly helpful with area restaurants, shuttle, and attraction information. She always had a kind and joyful smile for us when she saw us coming and going on the property. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The entire hotel had a retro vibe to it and we felt like family the entire time. We will definitely be coming back.

Would have loved for the AC to already be on when we arrived as it took awhile for the heat to go away overnight. The wifi seemed a spotty (cut in and out) when we tried to work a bit on our laptops. Wasn't awful, but it was noticable.

What a hidden gem, don't let the low stars fool you, unless you care about having a pool (which I don't) this is a 5 Star Motel. The owner is all hands on deck and takes great pride in what she does, she is very welcoming, super hard working, and amazingly accommodating. Location is perfect, tucked away from the hustle and bustle so you can relax and unwind just knowing everything is only a few minutes away when you are ready to venture back out to play and/or explore. I felt we got off to a rough start after camping for a couple days and sleeping on a mattress with a slow leak in a little tent, by the time we arrived we were half out of it and ready for some real rest. The office is small with room enough for one check in at a time, we were waiting outside so as to give space for the owner to tend to her check in, I was goofing off and know I may have sounded rude, the window was open and I was overheard sounding impatient, it was embarrassing because I know how it sounded. It was one of those moments when you feel like your foot is in your mouth, the owner kindly let us know through the window that she would be right with us. It gets better. (Keep this in mind, after 12 years of working in the Pest Control field as an inspector, I have been OCD about checking every bed before getting in, trust me when I say I have seen some things, I check any bed any where.) The owner gives you her 100% attention when checking you in, she is so welcoming to her guests, she walks you to your room, informs you of all the local Hotspot, transportation, amenities available here and around you and so forth. She walks us to our room, I have flashlight in hand and begin inspecting the bed right in front of her, I am figuring if I find anything we will be able to get a different room because there would be no argument, when in reality I am quite sure I just absolutely insulted her. Oh boy, I had both feet in my mouth.

We were delighted by the spacious and comfortable accommodation. The kitchen was one of the best equipped kitchens we have encountered. Susie and her staff were most helpful is getting us settled in. Our room looked directly towards Pikes Peak. The location is just 500 m from the south entrance to the spectacular "Garden of the Gods", and 25 min drive from the beautiful 7 Bridges Trail.

The red wing was clean and quiet. It worked well for our little family to stay in while on a short vacation.

The hot water would vary in temperature and go from cold to scolding hot quickly. So we had to monitor it closely when washing kids. The Wi-Fi would seem overloaded at times and would have trouble streaming. Neither of the issues huge.

The owner is very involved. It’s quiet, right at the foot of Garden of the Gods. It’s spotlessly clean, while cute, it’s also uniquely furnished. The bed was extremely comfortable and so was the pillow. I would stay there again. We walked to a nearby diner for breakfast, and were happy. It’s privately owned, has been updated but is very much cared for. I’d stay there again without a doubt while in Manitou.

My deluxe studio was very spacious allowing me to move around freely and set a yoga mat down with room to spare. It had a full kitchen just like home. The full chaise lounge in the corner was to live for. The bed was med.- firm.

It could use a second luggage stand for the second guest. The bathroom door had to be closed in order for you to sit on the toilet. Limited TV channels. All are minor issues.

This place was well maintained and clean. Owner and staff were welcoming and helpful. This is in a nice location, right across the street from parks. Exceeded my expectations for a motel. I would stay here again.

This is picky. But I think that an air conditioner that has constant fan (but will automatically switch to cooling mode when needed) would be nice. Sometimes in unfamiliar surroundings I don't sleep that well. I've noticed that a constant sound (rather than on/off cycling) helps me sleep better. Like I said, picky. I liked the place.

It was quite and a highly friendly staff. Small location and parking wasn’t really an issue. The free bus into Manitou was free and they were vary informative… Even let me borrow a tool my first day cause I didn’t have any…

Not much I didn’t like about it. Only the table in my room was wobbly and often spilled drinks if bumped. Very loose..

Superlative for its class -- the Red Wing has exceeded my expectations at every turn. It is not a hotel for a partying crowd, but if you're looking for a clean, comfortable, quiet, and reliable place to stay, give the Red Wing a look. The management's attention to detail is exceptional. That work-ethic extends to the staff. Really impressed. Extended my stay and will return again when the need arises.

The Red Wing is a vintage motel that has undergone upgrades that retain the vintage feel but adhere to modern comforts. We liked being slightly away from the main Manitou drag but close enough to shopping, eating, hiking, etc. The staff were incredibly helpful and the rooms were clean and well provisioned. We would definitely stay here again.
