The breakfast was really nice. A little something for everyone. I would love if they would’ve had some sort of meat to add though. Bacon or sausage. They do have hard boiled eggs though. The hotel is wonderfully clean. I have horrible OCD and I greatly appreciated not being grossed out. The view was by far of course the best part. The fireplace and jacuzzi tub was perfection and the bed was extremely comfortable! The pillows and robes were nice quality as well. They even have them available for purchase.

Meat for breakfast. Lol! Our only complaint truly!

Spectacular location--like sleeping on the Ariel Lift bridge. Stunning. It is the first turn after the bridge from the park--couldn't be closer to the bridge. The service offered to call between 10pm and 6am if a ship is going thru the canal is cool--you could hop out in your pajamas and see it very up close. Unfortunately, no ships while I was there as shipping season is winding down. Super convenient to walk to all the shops/restaurants in Canal Park, but without the hustle of staying in the park. Small, family run property is a wonderful change from chain hotels. It was very quiet. Parking is tight, so if you have a big vehicle, you need to be careful!

This isn't necessarily specific to South Pier, but the TV set up at hotels is often unreliable, directions don't match reality, etc. But TV not a requirement for me.

perfect location across the lift bridge so away from congestion yet easy walk or drive across to maritime museum, and restaurants in that area. Just know the bridge goes up and down somewhat regularly and that jams up traffic on both sides! The hotel is exceptionally well appointed with good enough breakfast in the morning (Greek yoghurt, fresh granola, fruit snd good coffee) and nice outside seating areas to really enjoy the views of Duluth and the lake. So glad we stayed here instead of on the other side of the bridge. Hotel is peaceful and well-run!

Our room was on the second floor along the Duluth Harbor Canal. Amazing views of the lift bridge, canal park and downtown Duluth. The room had a very comfy bed, a gas fireplace, a hot tub and 2 comfy easy chairs with a table. There was a large window for viewing from the room, and a balcony. Within walking distance to many restaurants and attraxctions. Excellent buffet continental breakfast in the main room - which also has great views.

The location of the place is pretty nice. Its walking distance from the center. The breakfast was good and coffee was amazing. They had a small fire place for guests to sit outside and admire the bridge.

The room was located on 1st floor and for elderly couple it can be challenge to take the luggage. There was construction happening opposite to the property, which was not the pretty site. For off season, this was pretty pricy.

We stayed for one night and it was fantastic. One thing I would like to mention- When booking the room it stated NO VIEW - for marketing purposes I would suggest saying partial view. We still had a view from our balcony, perhaps not a full lake view. Many hotels say "view" and offer MUCH less of a view than South Pier Inn. Bed was super comfy, room was SUPER clean and it was walking distance to some great restaurants, bars and a distillery. Being that close to the lift bridge was so cool. We also enjoyed the firepit outside. Will definately be back.

Loved this place! The room was lovely - so different from a typical motel. I loved the reading nook in the corner of the room! For breakfast, I loved the Greek yogurt and especially the toppings they provided! Also, the wild rice and cranberry bread from the bakery was so delicious! Pineapple juice was a nice alternative to orange juice and the coffee was good and hot! The location was quiet and nice right by the aerial bridge, but close enough to walk to canal park or for us Bentleyville to see the lights!

The room had several little "extra" details....a make up mirror, makeup wipe and black washcloth for makeup were appreciated. The little beverage area had a wine cork and a bottle opener. Our little room included a fridge, coffee maker and a microwave. There was a phone charging station. Breakfast area had surprisingly many choices.....something for everyone. And finally....the entire property is at the base of the lift bridge so the view is great. South Pier Inn exceeded our expectations.

Parking was really tight.

Very quiet and clean. Loved having the fireplace and jacuzzi in the room. It was restful and peaceful sitting on our balcony or on the shore in the provided seating taking in the view.

The bed was a little hard for my liking but I did sleep well. Breakfast was fine but I would have liked a hot item such as scrambled eggs or waffles.

We absolutely loved this property. We chose it for proximity to the lift bridge, and the view was amazing. In our one-night stay, we saw 5 oar boats come in. The hotel even offers a late night phone call if guests would like to see the ships that come in overnight. All members of staff were hospitable, professional, friendly and helpful. We had an Executive Suite with fireplace, which was really cozy. The bedding was like sleeping in a cloud. If ever we go back to Duluth, this is where we'll stay.
