The location was perfect. Staff was accommodating,friendly and professional even though they hold business hours-not available in late evening. The one room sitting area was cute and as pictured.

It was quite genius to create a space for guests in the brick building that houses rooms. The room was simple and clean but had a college dorm room feel as far as quality of bed,desk,lighting and appliances for the price. It was a little awkward that check in desk was situated in a "closet" .

The Ale House Inn has the same funkiness and amenities of other Lark Hotel properties. Location in Portsmouth is PERFECT - it’s at the center of everything. Shout out to James for being an AWESOME host. Also thanks to the manager at sister property The Portsmouth Inn for helping me extend my stay another night.

This is not a criticism, but the elevator being out (it was actually removed while we were there lol) was a but challenging. The manager and I joked about it though so it’s all good.

The Inn was perfectly located in the heart of the shopping and restaurants. It shares space with the Repertory Theater which is very convenient if you want to catch a show. The staff was easy to contact via phone or text as the key to the room is digital through an app. The woman I spoke with was friendly, helpful, and made sure we got into our room without any trouble. I would definitely stay at this property again!

The location was prime! You can walk everywhere you want to go. There are many great restaurants, bars and shopping nearby.

The elevator was not working, but they were trying to repair it while we stayed there. The stairs were very steep and it was difficult to get our luggage up to the room. I'm sure it will be fine when the elevator is repaired. Room was small but it was a great value for the money.

The hotel was very responsive, and supplied plenty of information for us to understand check-in procedures. We also asked Aidan at the reception desk for some help and recommendations, and he was extremely helpful and polite. We were absolutely delighted with the Ale House Inn!

The only problem was that the air conditioning was not working, so they supplied in-room units. The unit worked well and actually provided some white noise for sleeping, so that was a bonus. They explained the situation to us completely and made sure we were comfortable.

Great location. Very clean. Nice room and bathroom. Coffee and tea available. Keyless entry. Text communication with staff was immediate. Had parking space if you wanted to pay.

I would say the only thing lacking were some granola bars in the coffee/tea area. They had popcorn and bags of junk food. But need a bar or something in the morning. It's not a bnb. But the basket of snacks was junk food. $30/day for parking seemed excessive given the local garage is pretty cheap per hour.

The location of the Ale House is perfect. A few minute walk to downtown with plenty of restaurants, bars, shopping and anything else you would need. The room size was good (slightly on the smaller side but plenty enough space). Staff was friendly and helpful. This place exceeded expectations for the price, it was perfect. Will definitely return when staying in the area.

Bathroom was a bit on the smaller side but did the trick. Elevator is super slow.

Gorgeous lobby, easy walking distance to everything in Portsmouth, easy driving access to the ocean, rooms small but comfortable!

Was a little disappointed there wasn’t hot coffee available - there was warm nitro coffee that was delicious, but had to had some hot water to it for it to be hot.

The location is great. It’s an easy walk to shops, restaurants, and breweries. The bed was comfy, and the room was very clean. The staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous. If you’re in town to sample beers and get a little shopping in, this is the place to stay.

There’s nothing I didn’t like about the property, but I could see the stairs at the entrance to the property being difficult for some folks. If you have mobility issues, this might not be the place for you.

Location was fantastic, staff was friendly and helpful, and the nitro coffee was nice.

The room were in need of a little update if the paint. The parking doesn't include Sunday morning as the spots are rented from the church across the street, but the was free on street parking overnight until noon.
