Ithaca Marriott Downtown on the Commons

We enjoyed Monk's for dinner on Friday night. Overall, the property is just really clean and classy, and the location cannot be beat. Staff were friendly, amenities were appreciated! (We enjoyed being able to get a little tub of ice cream and a half-bottle of wine from the snack bar next to the front desk!)

The lack of (convenient and) available parking is a problem, but that is our only complaint! The fact that we could walk 2-3 blocks to a garage was inconvenient, but parking was free in the Seneca garage -- not sure if this was because the machine wasn't working, but it was nice to not have to pay for parking...

Could optimize the check in process. Check in is at 4 pm and we arrived at 3:40 and were initially told that there was an unknown amount of time before our room was ready. Same thing was happening to the family next to us as well. However our check in staff member was able to rearrange things around and get us into our room at that time so I am grateful for that…. But unclear as to why initially we were told something else. Additionally understandably parking garage is under construction so there is local parking at the nearby street garages (free on the weekends, max $10/day) but a downside in the meantime at having to walk there and back. They do have a valet option.

The hotel is great, super confortable room, quiet, everything like new. The restaurant is fantastic and the lobby bar, super cool staff in the restaurant, location is fantastic. The girl in the valet was super helpful.

The reservations dint show up in the hotel, the manager was not very helpful, but the girl in the valet, super friendly use her personal phone to call booking and fix the situation.

The property was great . Very clean, kind and helpful staff. Room was attractive and clean. I really liked the shower. I called the desk and asked for something and they brought it up in 5 minutes. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely stay again.

Hopefully they finish the parking deck soon because that was a pain. The valet was great but it would have been easier to have my car close by. Also, a warning about 4th of July weekend might have been nice. A majority of the town closes down and it was very hard to find dinner. Every place had a 2-3 hour wait, some didn’t even have take out. Just a heads up from the desk at check in would have been greatly appreciated.

The location was very convenient, though there were some issues with getting to the entrance, since you needed to be on the right side of the street. It was close to the downtown area of restaurants, which was tremendous.

Check in was delayed. We didn't get into our room until two hours after we arrived. The two women working the front desk were less than friendly (and we weren't the only travelers waiting with the same complaints), blaming a staff shortage, though they did finally grant us a $50 credit for breakfast. It wasn't offered until I specifically asked for compensation, which was disappointing. Also, the view from our room window (304) was basically demolition rubble. It would be nice if there was onsite parking.

Location, stuff, cleanings and size of room.

I would have liked them to have a better breakfast option. The only option at the hotel is buffet breakfast for $20 with not many options. They are in downtown Ithaca so we did find a place to eat but not a nice sit down option. There are more brunch options on Saturday & Sunday. There is no parking at the hotel which is hurting the value. We used Street parking at the meters which are in two hours increments in the hours of 9-6. We found a good spot for all three nights.

We have stayed at this hotel for many trips on the way to Toronto, but unfortunately we won't anymore because we have a new dog and they charge a non-refundable $100-$150 dollar pet fee. More than we would like to pay and our dog is definitely going to join us. Too bad. Oh well.

Nice room and very friendly and professional service

Parking was a little inconvenient. Had to use public parking lot about a block plus away. Also very few people wore masks even though Sign outside strongly recommended them even required them in lobby. None of the staff wore masks. As someone who recently had Covid I was shocked at

Convenient to Ithaca college. Reservations made 1 year in advance for graduation.

Check in process very stressful. Make sure reservation, credit card and id are all in same name. Ithaca didn’t allow parents at graduation so our daughter stayed alone in room. Front desk staff almost didn’t let her stay bc her id didn’t match the credit card. Real hassle on a very busy day. In the end, I needed to fax form to give permission to use original card but they debited her card anyways.

Location was very convenient. It was in the middle of downtown where all the restaurants and shops are. And also very close from Cornell campus.

Reception area, lobby and dining area in the pub is all too open, visually it was distracting to see huge TV monitor in the reception area.
