Hillwinds Inn - Blowing Rock

the connivence of the property is the best! it’s maybe a half a mile from downtown blowing rock. perfect for animals. they have rocking chairs to enjoy the fresh air right outside your door.

the scenery of the back of the property (like out the back window). There was a voicemail that was left saying after I paid for the place they needed a credit card on file or I couldn’t stay.

We enjoyed the sitting area and the little kitchenette. It was really nice to have a separate room as well as the bedroom. The proximity to all the shops and restaurants downtown was a big plus. We always had a parking space available! And we had excellent Wi-Fi, both from our unit and from the parking lot.

The Davidson Suite was spacious and the updated bathroom with 2 sinks a double showerhead walk in shower, and the jacuzzi tub were very nice. The sofa in the sitting area was quite comfortable and the large screen tv was very good. The king bed was comfortable and I enjoyed the rocking chairs on the balcony. Very nice kitchen area in this suite as well. We liked the early American brick look of the inn, too. The location was perfect for walking downtown but also getting out onto Hwy 321 to go to Boone, the outlets, et.

Parts of the exterior of this inn need woodwork and repainting. Some of the other downtown inns had taken better care of their grounds and had more flowers. Still, what they had was nice and well kept.

I like the cleanliness and the onsite staff. Since l have business downtown this is a great location. I can walk to work.

I did not like that prior to this visit I had stayed over 10 days at these properties the past two months. This time I had a 7 day booking. When they went to run my card for over $1500 a 7 pm it did not go through. I asked them to just charge one night they would not do it and would not let me check in. Given I was in the middle of a business meeting I had to call my bank. The card went through. Given I am a good customer I find the manager does not use common sense and is rigid. I called corporate and never received a call back. The property and staff is very good the manager needs training.

Hotel was clean and very comfortable. Walls appeared to be super thick because it was fully booked and we never heard any of our neighbors, upfront parking was very convenient specially in the rain. Overall a great experience, hotel is older so there was some expected wear and tear but the important parts were clean. Fridge, microwave and table all came in handy. Hotel was within walking distance of many restaurants, ice cream shops and local stores. Will definitely have to come back again soon.

It was peek season therefore pricing was a bit high but expected.

Nice spacious room. Well equipped. Located very close to all the places a person would want to go. Beautiful grounds. Dog friendly. Very helpful staff.

Room had a musty odor that you got used to quickly, but I notice it remained on my clothing after we left.

Location, facilities, appearance , good sleeping, very little noise. Friendly PERSONNEL , close to resturants.

No breakfast was provided, only Keurig kcup coffee was provided. Maybe a simple pastry or muffin a Selection to go with the coffee. Maybe a small selection of fruits.

we actually stayed at Boxwood Lodge b/c the Hillwinds room we reserved wasn’t available. they called 2 days before our trip and upgraded us for free to Boxwood to the Cabin. what an adorable facility!! We loved it.

I wish the ice maker worked in the full fridge

Location perfect! Dog friendly! Room cozy.

Space in bathroom was tight but we loved the extra ceiling heater. And we would still choose cozy again over spacious. Beds were very comfy - the dogs agree (we did bring our own blankets to cover all their nice white room comforters). We wanted to hook up our firestick but seems some options on the remote were locked because we couldn’t switch input to view on the firestick. Not a big deal because after a full day we were pretty exhausted :)

We enjoyed the room which was like a small suite on the second floor with a balcony. Restaurants and shopping was a short walk away. Our encounters with staff were few, but pleasant. We plan to go back soon.

We missed out on the free breakfast, because of the social distancing of the Pandemic, and it rained every day, but we still had a great time!
