Holiday Inn Express & Suites Heath - Newark, an IHG Hotel0

I was very happy with my stay here for a few nights for work. The hotel was great, rooms were comfy. Ace at front desk was incredibly helpful with my never ending queries, and was an absolute credit to the team. I wish more hotels had folks like that. The pool was a nice bonus too, and was empty when I was using it. The sweets at reception are dangerously morish.

Be warned, this is quite off the grid so food options are a little limited, but I did have some joy with one app, the rest refused to work with a UK phone number which I was using.

Hotel room was good size, clean, and ready when I arrived. The location is easy to get to off I-70. The hotel staff I interacted with were all very nice and helpful. Room had automatic roll down curtains, which took a minute for me to figure out there was a control panel for them next to the thermostat. They were very nice as the thicker one was essentially a blackout curtain. A/C ran quiet enough, and kept the room cool. Internet was fast enough to stream video with no issues.

The only real issue I had, was that the parking lot is very small.

Convenient location., place is very clean, and hot breakfast is excellent Whisper quiet toilet seats...not so much on the room door..could've just been mine though. I have stayed here numerous times and it is consistently clean, orderly functional. Shout out to Ace., he is amazing as is all the staff.

Parking after 7 or so...felt safe that wasn't a concern, but alot of big heavy work trucks takes up alot of room., everyones polite about it all., but if they could increase that space some I think would be helpful

The breakfast was good. The attendants did a good job of keeping up on a busy Sat morning.

We were put in a handicap accessible room. For a tall person with back trouble this wasn't the best. No where to hang long clothes, a miniature ironing board. An oversized bathroom took away from the room size which made it a little cramped. I booked well in advance. I should have been asked or told about the room. The floors in the entry way were very dirty from Thursday night through Sat am. Someone spilled something an it was tracked from the elevators on. I know everyone is short staffed but this should have been given a little Priority since it was the first thing guests see. Ive stayed at other hotels in the area for a lower rate that I rated higher. Will check them out next time.

Location was perfect for us, close to lots of stores etc. Hotel staff was beyond incredible. Bed was super comfy and the pillows were actually great, unlike most hotel pillows. Hot breakfast is always a plus!

Toilet in our room was a little wobbly but not terribly problematic. The water pressure in the shower wasn't the best and the water itself is very over-softened to the point that we felt like soap still wasn't rinsed off after several minutes of rinsing.

Staff was enormously helpful, the room was very nice and clean and it was very quiet at night. There was a nice indoor swimming pool.

The microwave oven in the room was broken, but the helpful man behind the desk heated our meals and would even have called the maintenance man on Sunday evening to bring a new one. So in the end, nothing to complain about...

The breakfast included hot food, a bit of a surprise, albeit a pleasant one. The room was clean and comfy, as was the facility in general. The staff were, with only one exception, consistently cheerful and friendly!

The shower doors were askew, leaving gaps to wet the floor. The walls of the shower were not built correctly, being clearly warped on the bottom right. The hot food on alternate days was omelets, as opposed to scrambled eggs the other days. Some folk, myself included, don't like cheese and therefore hate omelets! Having some hard boiled eggs on all hot food mornings would give folks a good alternative!

Staff,room,and facility,everything was exceptional. Variations in breakfast selections, hot(!) and cold was a welcome change. They applied my IHG points to my account even thought I used Booking com (another Express would not). Plan to stay here again.

Breakfast was great from the food to the 2 ladies working that I saw every morning. Taylor at the front desk was very welcoming, friendly and professional upon check-in and other times I saw her. The rest of the staff was also attentive and would say hello or to have a good day when I left.

I did not like that there were a ton of fingerprints/streaks on the window upon my arrival. I advised the front desk about it and said it'd be ok to wait until the day they cleaned (Tues, I got there Fri) but it was never done. Just made me feel the room was dirty bc of the window/window sill (drink drips). I think since I requested it be cleaned, it should have.

Great breakfast considering we are in the midst of a pandemic and the hot food was very good and they also offered "grab and go" if you wanted it. Different hot items each day and fresh fruit and yogurt. Very polite wait staff every morning! The beds were very comfortable and my wife and I slept well on them as well as the pillows which have both firm and soft ones to use in the same room.

Some minor issues with motorized blinds and heater/AC that were noisy, but Adam the manager was very accommodating and had us moved to another room. The rooms could use what I call "comfort height" toilets, but I'm sure that they may have rooms that are ADA compliant with that feature. Please keep in mind this hotel opened only last October 2020 in the middle of the worst pandemic the world ever has experienced and is working hard to correct construction/minor issues which they appreciate travelers who let them know about such issues.
