Great to have a cost-conscious option located in a great spot in Providence. If it weren't for this place, I would have been stuck driving miles and miles away to some boring chain motel in big box land.
Make sure you have the Booking.com app or that you check your Booking.com messages. They won't send you any information on check-in any earlier than 3pm on the day of your check-in, so if you don't have the app, you get this message at 3pm, but have no idea because you're likely travelling. So if you're like me, you show up and it's 7pm and you're ready to park for the night, but the message on Booking.com says to write back with a picture of your ID if you want the passcode. Well you do that, but because they're understaffed, no one checks the message for 90 minutes as you sit in a cold car parked outside Brown University. Eventually it'll all get sorted out, but I'd much rather have had this all worked out prior to my arrival in Providence or while I was travelling to Providence.

The place is really good, it's located in College Hill so you can just walk from the train station to the property and it's like a 15-20 minute walk, the room is private and the kitchen and bathroom are shared. The showers and toilets were clean, but the kitchen was so dirty we only went in once, the freezer looks like a crime scene. The room is really good, big enough, clean and the mattress was the best. There are a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance and there is an EXCELLENT Mexican restaurant in front of it. Would definitely book again.
Nothing, it was good and would recommend it.

The people who work there. Comfy bed. Clean, good value. Patient customer service team. #5 very quiet. Good for sleeping. Love the night life on Thayer, always a good time.
Rooms facing street. Beautiful , ac, but was hard to enjoy, no working apps on TV. Some rooms, no remote, no ac. I can go with the flo on those issues. However, showers have no water pressure, and heads are clogged with build -up. Try soaking in CLR solution, clear the build-up. Only 1 of 3 showers has some pressure and spray, the others not so much. The showers at Central Ave have more pressure than on Thayer. However. There is more privacy at Thayer when trying to shower. Go figure.

The shared bathroom was clean and well-maintained, and I rarely encountered other guests using it, making it feel like a private bathroom for most of my stay. Street parking, including overnight parking, is relatively easy to find, as long as you avoid the really busy hours. Note that the official City of Providence website states that overnight parking is not allowed, but this was not indicated on any street signs, and we were able to park on the street for free for three nights without any issues.
It would be beneficial to provide additional furniture or storage solutions in the shower room, such as a towel rack, shelf, or hooks, to hold clothes and towels. I submitted multiple inquiries through booking.com regarding parking and booking modifications. Unfortunately, I did not receive a response from the staff. Although my stay was generally satisfactory, I suggest improving communication by responding to guest queries in a timely manner. This would enhance the overall guest experience and show that their concerns are valued.

The location of this property was really great! It’s near Brown university and Thayer street (which has a lot of restaurants and cafes around it). If you like walking around, it’s a 15min walk away from downtown Providence too.
I just wished that there was a way to at least leave luggage sometime before and after the check-in (4pm) and check-out (11am) times. But the staff were really nice enough to allow us to at least check in a bit earlier just to leave our luggage.

My stay at Mitchie House was a very good experience, I stayed for one night, single room with shared bath and shared kitchen/common area. Everything was very clean, other people staying there all very friendly and accommodating. There is nobody at the property to greet you, or give you the codes to the locks. I called a day in advance, paid over the phone, and got my codes early. That way no hassle at all. I would stay there again. The area is great, more or less on campus of the Brown University. If you are sensitive to noise, bring ear plugs, it is a busy student area, though the noise outside on the street did die down around 11pm. Metered parking on street, 3 hrs max., 2 hours free parking in some side streets. If you need parking overnight, there is a Brown University parking lot nearby for guests, $2 per hour on weekends/overnight.
I have no complaints. I do think that if payment is set up to be paid at the property, it should be made easy for people to pay. Or, alternatively, maybe booking.com should be authorized to collect the payment for the property in advance (as is the case with a lot of accommodations). Reportedly some of the issues with codes being provided late etc. is because the property had not been paid. Make sure you pay before you go (by phone) to avoid potentially having to wait outside prior to getting your codes.

I’ve stood here a few times now and for what I need on my trip it’s wonderful. The area is fantastic, a lot of food choices, the lady who cleans is super nice and helpful, and the rooms are clean and cozy.
For what I need it’s perfect But keep in mind it’s not a hotel So bring what you need or pick up what you need across the street or at CVS near by

Clean, good value always. Still smells, but not as bad as last time.
Smells like a mix of disinfectant, BO, puke. Replace the rug in a common area. It is stained and gross. The last time I was here in September , there was a person sleeping on the couch. Better than Central, no parties? Place was party central in a Friday night when I was trying to sleep to go to work in the early am.

This is my first time staying in a hostel. I did not know what to expect. But I am pleasantly surprised by this property - simple and clean. The staff is not around, but is around by keeping in touch with texts. The property is in embedded in the Brown campus, surrounded by restaurants and shops. It’s so easy to attend the college activities during the Family Weekend. I totally enjoyed my stay at Michie House.

The rooms were nice and comfy especially the bed! Gorgeous kitchen!!!! Very nice location as well.
It is a hostel so there are many people who stay there and share amenities such as the kitchen and bathroom. This isn’t a problem whatsoever it’s actually quite nice to be able to meet new people you’re around but some of them aren’t the best at cleaning up after themselves so you might find a mess here and there!
