The Westin Poinsett, Greenville

The Westin is my favorite hotel to stay in Greenville. Hubby prefers the modern decor of the AC Hotel; however, I much prefer the classic elegance of the Westin. Excellent location. Walking distance to almost everything and if not they off a car service. Front desk staff (and their fresh baked cookies) are warm and helpful. Bar staff friendly. Didn’t use spa but I may next time.

Biggest thing… Westin you need to establish a scent. I love walking into a beautiful light scented hotel. Wished there were a tub for those who prefer a soak… didn’t ask so perhaps you can request one. In-room coffee machine is very dinky (yes some of us don’t always want to schlep for a cup of java). Piano player could diversify and play some contemporary songs. To be fair we didn’t stay long enough to hear his entire set.

The Westin Poinsett is located in the heart of downtown Greenville and close to urban walking trails, restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions. The hotel is 100 years old and beautifully restored keeping the charm of times gone by while providing modern conveniences, large comfortable rooms, spacious bathrooms, safes and quiet efficient in room refrigerators, a coffee maker with Starbucks coffee pods. The staff members are professional, welcoming, friendly and helpful. The lobby bar is comfortable with reasonable prices and the Spoonbread restaurant provides good breakfast choices that are well prepared.

Self -parking is behind the hotel in a public lot but many levels are reserved for monthly customers. This is a very minor inconvenience.

I liked the old-fashioned architecture, very clean and restored. The location is EXCELLENT. Once, years ago, it was the most proximate hotel to the Falls Park, although now many more have crowded in. Still the access is good and the attached parking garage is an extra.

There was a shocking absence of a secure wi-fi network. My wife and I are physicians and need to keep in contact with our patients, but our standard secure systems balked at joining this hotel's public network. Even the most humble motel has a secure (password-protected) network these days, althought the passwords are often near-obvious. The hotel is owned by a vast corporation. There is no excuse for this omission.

location was excellent rooms were big and beds very comfortable we had a fabulous meal in the nosedive restaurant and a drink at the bar in hotel all the staff we encountered were very friendly and professional

only negative I could say about our stay was that there was no shower caps in bathroom plus there was only one robe In wardrobe with two people sharing the room

The breakfast and the breakfast staff was wonderful. The food was delicious and the staff was very accommodating as I have some health issues and desired seating away from the crowds. The location downtown was convenient.

Need some snack machines or a small assortment at the desk. Had to go outside the facility according to the attendant.

I didn’t like the fact that Booking.com said “no hidden fees” & there were. The hotel charged my card for an “incidental damage” hold. when I called the hotel, they said it should come off of my card in 10 business days. I’m NOT HAPPY. if that was the case that should have been advertised!!!

The best ——-salmon was outstanding. Staff was so attentive to any of my needs.Large array of choices. All the food was super ——-cannot say enough about the service. Enjoyed the piano playing in the lounge. Drinks were so good.

There wa nothing I didn’t like.

From check-in to check-out the staff was friendly, professional and very helpful. The parking garage is conveniently located immediately behind the hotel. The hotel is in the center of the most interesting part of Greenville. It is in excellent condition. Very clean, conscientious about COVID. The breakfast was large and tasty.

The Westin Poinsett is excellent, start to finish.

Quite an old property but well maintained and updated. Our room was comfortable and well equipped. The bathroom was particularly nice with a good amount of space and a great shower. The location is ideal for exploring the center of Greenville. I recommend self parking in the lot immediately behind the hotel which cost $7 per day vs $20 for valet parking.

Nothing at all.

The staff were friendly and helpful -- all of the valets were great and our waiter, Patrick, was terrific. The hotel was beautiful and clean. We were happy to find that appropriate precautions were being taken regarding Covid -- making us feel more comfortable, especially since this was our first excursion since the pandemic began more than 12 months ago!

Wished we'd had a better view. Our room looked out onto a wall.
