Very clean, comfortable & a good value. Lots of amenities from the on-site bar, Perkins restaurant, pool area & gas/convenience store on site. Busy but friendly staff, plenty of parking on a concert night & close to I-90, the mall & many other shopping/restaurant choices. This used to be our go-to hotel in RC until about 10 years ago when it took a bad turn (condom under the water slide where our kids played, sketchy loiterers around the property, poor room cleanliness, etc). We stopped going there as a result. 🙁 But we tried it again on a concert night due to location & I was impressed with the return to pride, higher standards, a spotless room & professional staff while still offering a good value for the $. As such, the Gateway will, once again, go to the top of our list for hotel considerations whenever we are in Rapid City (several times a year). Well done, Gateway! You’ve earned back a satisfied guest! 👍🏻

nice place with a lounge and a Perkins on site. People were nice.

Mini fridge was unplugged when we got there. Someone had left a Ben and Jerry's ice cream in the freezer. It had melted and left a mess that dripped down to the bottom of the fridge. My wife spent some time cleaning it to get out the residue and smell. On the second day we asked the maids to clean the room. They said they would but did not. We called the second night to get our room cleaned the next day. It was cleaned but they did not touch the bed because we had two pillows on it.

Check in went quickly. The girls working were very cheery, and helpful with directions. The room was a nice size. We liked the small table with chairs near the window. We requested the first floor and we got it. The beds were very comfortable, and the pool was nice. We liked the fact that the fridge had a small freezer. Also the blow dryer stand had a built-in night light, nice touch.

Room was great but it would have been nice if the tub had a grab bar for safety. It would have been nice if they provided breakfast.

Very comfortable bed. Very clean room. I felt safe there. Once I checked into my room, I was pleased to find a microwave and refrigerator (that I did not see listed in their ad write-ups). No smell of smoke anywhere. I enjoyed a quiet, restful night there.

Lots of signs and forms to complete with "do's and don'ts" and fees listed for non-compliance that were somewhat unwelcoming. But these rules and fees are probably also the reason that I was guaranteed a pleasant stay at a reasonable price, unbothered by less than respectable guests.

Big, ample rooms and well located (around 5 minutes from the downtown and right by the highway). The kids loved the pool and the games room. The hotel looks outdated with dark carpet and wallpapers (or has a classic look, if you prefer) but it is very comfortable, with big rooms, decent shower, air con, wi-fi, and friendly staff. One thing that I noticed, and loved, is that the building is solid, so you don't hear your neighbors or people walking on the corridor like the new hotels buildings made of thin timber. The dinner next door is very handy with a good breakfast food and at a fair price. If one day I'm back to Rapid City, I'd definitely stay at this hotel again.

My only small complain is related to the mattresses. They could be more comfortable.

wow when you walk in this place is beautiful, the pictures do not do it justice! The swimming area is beautiful there is tons to do in the lobby area ping-pong, pool, swimming, darts, they also have an on-site bar in the building is connected to a Perkins. We did get this for a very low rate so I wasn’t expecting what we got, but extremely pleased. in the bedroom there were two queen beds and a nice size bathroom and refrigerator microwave and coffee maker. super close to all the shipping centers. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I wish there was an area that talked about the history of this building. I started to look it up. BUT…

We happen to come during the construction season. My son laughed said there are 3 seasons here 1-Tourist season 2-construction season 3- winter. lol he’s right.

We booked on a Wednesday night in September 2022. The grand total including taxes/fees was $62 for one night. This was one of the least expensive hotels we have stayed in, but it did not look like $62. I believe this hotel runs more on par with $100-$150 a night which is appropriate. The room was well decorated, clean, bed was comfortable. We bring our own pillows from home so can’t comment on the hotel pillows. There is no breakfast included at all which is a bit of a downer but for the price we can’t complain. They do have a Perkins attached to the hotel. We checked in at the hotel around 7pm and there was a dog barking NONSTOP for an hour until we requested to move rooms to a different floor to get away from the dog barking. You could hear the dog barking all the way down the hall so it affected many other guests. But what was excellent was the employee tried calling the dog owners right away and moved us to a new room far away and on a different floor immediately. I don’t think the dog owners (shame on the dog owners to leave that poor dog barking nonstop for hours by itself in a strange new room and then to not answer their phone) could be reached for several hours though so the dog apparently barked for hours after. I don’t think this reflects on this hotel at all, since most hotels allow dogs with a fee, but this hotel did everything they could to resolve the issue which is a 10/10 for them! We would stay here again if in the area. Great value for the price we paid

There was some highway noise, but that is pretty common for many hotels since many right off the highway.

Great amenities - Pool with slide, adult & kid-friendly games (Additional cost to play foosball, darts, ping pong and pool tables). Cheers bar and Perkins onsite. Great location with lots of stores, gas stations, restaurants nearby. Very friendly staff.

Ping Pong paddles need to be upgraded (not great quality and they were falling apart), hotel needs to be remodeled (you could tell rooms/hallway, carpets and furnishings were old). Need more chairs for each table at the pool...larger groups would take the chairs from the other tables so you were left with no where to sit.

Clean, comfortable, nice pool area.

The check-in process was not easy. Had to provide ID for everyone in our party. Also provide a $100 security deposit on each room and sign a waiver to use the pool. None of this was disclosed up front when I made the reservation. Also I had to pay the room cost in advance .
