La Quinta by Wyndham Waco Baylor Downtown

I wanted a hotel close to Baylor Uni and this was a 10 minute walk. It was also a 15 minute walk into centre of Waco. Close to a wide range of restaurants. Breakfast was great, as I was travelling with kids, so this saved money eating out. Good selection for breakfast - cereal, porridge, waffles, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, sausages, toast, tea, coffee, hot choc and fruit juice. More than enough choice for us. The pool was bigger than pictures suggested and reasonably quiet. Hot tub excellent. Room was spacious and comfortable. We had just come from La Quinta in Arlington and the Waco hotel was much more modern.

The foyer/lobby was beautiful but lacked the atmosphere in the evening for a drink. I just popped to the hotel next door for a couple of drinks instead.

Excellent property!

Everything about this La Quinta was amazing. The one and ONLY drawback is that while it is located close to many eating establishments, a CVS, a convenient store, is right across the expressway from Baylor, and only a few blocks away from Magnolia Market, there are low income housing units located right across the street and unfortunately there seemed to be questionable activities going on which were easily viewable from our 3rd floor window. As a result of the close proximity, there were a few times that some of the tenants were right by the main doors, in the lobby, and in one instance, very near the main elevators. I feel this is important to share so that first time visitors are aware. I should also say that at no time did my family and I not feel safe staying here.

Loved my stay! Very nice hotel - I loved the old school music in the lobby. It makes the atmosphere much warmer than hearing modern music, so thanks! Breakfast was great and everything was really clean, which I appreciate!

Only thing I can think of to criticize was the elevator...SUPER SLOW. Everyone was complaining about it, because we would gather their wait to go up or down. The wait was long enough for groups to gather. Get that up to speed, and you're golden!

The pool area is definitely a plus!! I love the open concept. Super clean property. Very quiet. DEFINITELY a great spot! The decor is great!! The whirlpool is phenomenal and the patio outside is great!!

Front desk ppl could be alil more receptive... They stay on their ph even if you are standing there. Kinda felt like I couldn't ask for anything, cuz I didn't want to bother them. The location was alil sketchy, homeless ppl right behind the hotel. But I felt safe inside. More trashcans could be by the door and on patio area. Truly it's was a great stay!!!

I liked our room it was huge! First time in the first floor. I loved the charging ports rather using our cubes. Great location to lots of food options & Magnolia. Other than the 2 missing items & the shower leaking out this was a great stay. Best La Quinta I have ever stayed at.

The coffee wasn’t the greatest. No shampoo provided. Being that it was a disable room no lip on the shower & the room was filling with water. The shower had a leak & was spraying out from the connection.

The complimentary breakfast was great. Everything was clean, and the staff was great. The beds were comfortable, and we enjoyed the lobby/ bar.

We were in an ADA compliant room. The bathroom flooded the bathroom. The design of the shower failed to keep the water in the shower. The surrounding area looks a little run down, but we had no problems. We walked to the pizza place and frozen custard shop.

The hotel was very close to our activities for the next day. Breakfast presented tasty offerings. Kids loved the pool.

The hotel put our two rooms at opposite ends of the floor. I tried to contact Booking.com and got no answer. The hotel wouldn't move us without input from Booking.com. The reason for the separation is that we were assigned to two handicap rooms. I didn't ask for that.

Close to the Silos and downtown. It was a newer clean place. I originally booked for $129/night which is reasonable for the area. I had to change it by 1 day because of our trip itinerary and it changed the price to go up to $250 for 1 night. I wasn’t happy but already had itinerary to stick to.

The area was not a great area. The hotel was nice and it appeared the hotel next to it and few little restaurants appeared decent. Close to the Silos which is a plus. But the $250 for 1 night Absolutely was NOT worth it given the surrounding area we were in. I’m sure it was so expensive due to the Silos being close but I really expected much more out of the surroundings and wanted to feel safer going outside when staying in such an expensive place.

The location was great for walking distance to local eateries and the Magnolia Silos. We took an Uber to Nifna's (Mexican food which was tasty), but walked back to the hotel, about 20 minutes. We walked past the Silos, so walked there the next day. We were glad we did because the parking was pretty full even though we were there early. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient. The facility, including the room, was beautiful and clean. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was adequate with options for several tastes. The parking lot was sufficient that we could park our car pulling a U-Haul trailer. We noticed other vehicles towing also.

Nothing to dislike. It was a very positive experience.

Breakfast was very cpmplete and kindness of the staff was nice as well.

Maybe you can improve the rear side of the parking lot, there are some houses and very suspect guys looking at who parks over there, in fact a car just approached and asked if everything was ok, but kind of not very nice person whom asked about it. Maybe you can see how to improve that putting like a fence or something to protect a little bit more that area in specific.
