We loved the room, amenities, and overall atmosphere. Everything was as expected. Very comfortable hotel.
After paying a premium rate, I felt a bit nickled and dimed. My request for an early check in was denied. I asked for champagne glasses and an ice bucket to be delivered to my room. The response was call room service for a price. The room was listed as having s balcony. Our door did not open and there was no balcony just a flat iron gate. Late checkout was only an option for an additional $50. Parking was extra. I would have loved to schedule services in the spa, but the prices were exorbitant.

The rooms are very large and comfortable. Great mirrors, best I have ever seen, in a hotel room. The hotel was built in the early 2000s for the Olympics and the owner loves the whole chintz and gold look. The gym is good but as this is a popular hotel with sports people, it is often very crowded and could do with a larger more weight focused area. The pool is very pretty in summer. Bathrooms are all marble and great showers. Love the Laurel cafe as a solo traveler, usually have dinner and drinks by the bar. Also they have an excellent breakfast at Laurel. Not included.
The staff are not really fixtures of the hotel, they are young students and seem to come and go at the front desk. However the bell staff and concierge have worked there for years and are knowledgeable. The rooms are looking tired, but I heard they are in the process of renovation. Be careful of the lovely marble floors in the bathroom, which can be slippery and avoid the garden rooms, lower ceilings and crappy furniture.

The location is great, very close to the airport. The room was beautiful as were the grounds and the lobby. We ate two meals there which were both excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The only negative of the trip was the hotel charged me $50 to check out 2 hours past their check out time. I have never stayed at another 5 star hotel that wouldn't accommodate a 2pm check out so this was a little disappointing as far as customer experience. I even explained to them that the reason I was requesting it was because my flight was delayed. It was a shame to end a perfect stay with a negative. It's only $50 but it was more about the policy and customer service then the price.

Old worldly Hotel with very large and comfortable rooms. The only 5 star in SLC.
Needs renovation. Since covid too many excuses to take away services. They stopped offering cookies at the front desk. I don't even like cookies but I loved the touch. Things have been removed from the room that were there previously. However it is very well appointed anyway. Its just slightly smug as they are the only 5 star hotel in SLC. I wish another would come and offer me something else to compete and compare. The bakery is also annoying as they only offer sweet baked goods. Go down the street to the coffee shop for exceptional coffee and breakfast

Our stay was perfect, from the minute we arrived on the property to the moment we left. The hotel was lovely, our king suite was beautifully appointed and had a great view of the mountains. The staff was exceptional, attentive and efficient. We don't get to Salt Lake City very often, but if we do I wouldn't stay anywhere else. 5 stars all around!
It's rare that I can't think of a single thing that could be improved, but I can honestly say I wouldn't change a thing.

The service was amazing: we ordered room service food at two very different times, and were served in less than twenty minutes each time, with delectable food; the hotel was nearly spotless; the facilities, like the indoor pool, were well-maintained and well-functioning; dinner at the hotel bar was scrumptious and quickly served; valet service was efficient; we were close to downtown; on the whole, we were delighted with our stay.
One of the lamps in our room (783) didn’t work; on the inside of the elevator doors, several names have been scratched into the gilding; when we first walked into our room, there was a cup with a small bottle of conditioner on the floor for some reason (perhaps an overly-hasty cleaning service?); the TV, for the price of our room, was small; the TV service seems antiquated, as do the TV options, which suffered a lack of variety: for a five star hotel, you expect more.

It is very nice and grand, just as the name suggests. Very satisfying to stay with in Salt Lake City.
I have booked the hotel with a decent amount and had a good experience. However, the final charge including the security hold is high and it never seems to be returned. Called once but never heard it back. Definitely need to keep an eye out with the charges on your bills and have it figured out when you check out.

Amazing hotel and grounds. A large room, well presented with a huge bathroom. Comfortable large bed. The hotel has great facilities, particularly if your into old-world charm. Staff were always pleasant. The bar areas was really nice and we had a casual pizza/beer in there that was really nice.
Had to pay for parking, even when you do I yourself. It was ridiculously priced but would have been better if it was free for guests.

It was fancy to look at, the arboretum was the best part of the stay! The flowers were gorgeous!!!
It was too fancy for us to feel comfortable!! We had breakfast across the street which was reasonably priced, and delicious!! The room did not even have a microwave for the price we paid to stay there! I wouldn’t stay there again, unless you like to have to pay separate for everything! And the food was for fancy people who like that type of thing!
