Hampton Inn Salem East - Electric Road

The location was good but access to parking was problematic. The room was spacious. The AC was quite adequate, and the bed was comfortable.

The shower curtain was about 3+ inches too short and the floor had to be mopped after using the shower because it was flooded. The operation of the TV was NOT intuitive and took great effort to use it - I have NEVER encountered such a user UNfriendly entertainment system. The light switch by the entrance door did not control any light in the room so you entered a blackened room at night trying to find a light switch.

It was the best Hampton Inn where I’ve ever stayed. Beautiful corner room, sparkling clean, excellent amenities. The only weakness is those awful paper cups instead of real glasses or even plastic. The pool area was lovely, as was the breakfast area. Kitchen and front desk staff were extremely helpful.

The hotel staff was great considering that Booking.com screwed up the reservation. The first young man didn’t seem to know how to solve the problem or really care. So I asked the other staff person and she went above and beyond to figure out what went wrong with the reservation. For some reason Booking.com had entered my name in backwards and didn’t send confirmation to the hotel to confirm my reservation even though I had my confirmation number that it had been confirmed. This was not my first visit with this hotel but my first bad experience. Because it was taken care of by someone who more experience I still rate it high on my list. It’s close to the hospital and clinic which I go to and sometimes has appointment back to back and the hotel is convenient location for me to stay.

Love the double room, pool was nice and clean which my daughter loved, breakfast was decent and plenty options, extra points for fresh cookies at check in desk which tasted great!

Could use some better pillows but other than that everything was great

Very clean & friendly staff.

No fault of this Property, but when realizing that the recent upgrades to the rooms did not include taller toilets, I asked for a raiser for the toilet seat or to be moved to a handicap accessible room. I was traveling w/ my elderly mother. This location did not have a raiser & b/c it was booked via 3rd party I was not able to change rooms.

Parking was difficult after 8:00 p.m. with limited spots it was tough to find a parking spot, that was a bit of a problem.

Overall, this hotel was very nice. Everything was very clean, even the elevators and stairwells. The breakfast area was set up nicely with lots of room and there was a nice variety of food choices. I would recommend this location.

The hotel was recently renovated. It was very clean and inviting. Our room was huge (corner king)!! The bed was comfortable, the shower had great water pressure and lots of hot water!! We will definitely stay here again when Christiansburg/Blacksburg hotels are full and prices raised 200%.

The only thing we did not like was the square pillows. I know that is the European thing but they were so uncomfortable. We usually bring our own but we were making a quick trip to Blacksburg so left them at home.

front desk was friendly and helpful. property was quiet and well kept. plenty of amenities. close to just about anything. hot breakfast was delicious

parking was cramped, but they were sold out. front desk offered close by parking alternatives so really not bad nor their fault.

Too close to the pool and a lot of teenage kids in the hallway after 11. Parking situation could have been better but understandable in where the hotel was located.
