It's close to everything you need even a public library. Modern washer drier which many hostels don't have. Mopped everyday. Staff is mature and helpful
The main problem with such a low budget hostel isn't the hostel. It's the people it too often attracts. Druggies and people w borderline mental conditions. Even if there's just one person who doesn't bathe it's a problem for everyone. I do think they need to fix two of the showers and put cleaning bulbs in every room

Everything. Clean, highly affordable and at a great location near two subway stops, a big grocery store, shops and cafes, and a public library. On-site laundry facilities. No frills, but if you're traveling for business, it's perfectly fine
Some people complain about this hostel because they're looking for a hotel and if so, they should book one. This is not a hotel. It's a place to rest your head while you're busy in DC. There are other hostels where you can hang, out all day, make friends, swap tourism stories and smoke weed -- and pay more than $60 a night, maybe more, and actually get less value for your money.

I know all the hostels in DC. If you are here for a short stay, as a tourist or business traveler, and have a limited buget to boot, this is your best bet. Location is terrific, close to two metros, bars and restaurants with varying cuisine, cool cafes, and a Giant for discount food shopping. You can walk down to Gallery Place is less than 10 minutes. Shetu, the manager is great, very helpful. There is onsite laundry ($3.00 total)
I wasn't expecting the Ritz --- it works! No TV -- a plus - and no stove, but who cares? They just fixed the other showers so there is now hot water on all floors. That was my main beef. Keep in mind it shuts down at 9 and doen't reopen until 2-3 mthe next day. There are problems sometimes when people assume --- wrongly -- that it's open round the clock and arrive late and can't get in. It's not. Arrange with the hostel to arrive late and a designated tenant can help you check in after hours.

I have stayed here many times and appreciate the low cost and the convenience. The location is close to a metro, a large grocery store, lots of restaurants and cafes and a public library. The staff is very mature. They mop the entire place and clean and disinfect the bathrooms daily. It has a modern washer and dryer -- a perk that most hostels lack. If you are staying for more than a few days, this is very helpful.
The main outstanding issue is the water problem. There is one bathroom and shower on each floor which is adequate but one shower has very poor water pressure and only one -- on the third floor -- has consistent hot water. For two days even this shower has had no hot water. This is a problem that needs to be remedied.

They clean top to bottom every day. Because they have floors not carpets, there are fewer germs than in most hostels. Laundry on site -- just $3 for wash and dry. Managers are very responsive to your needs. I am older and wanted a bottom bunk and was given priority over other guests. I needed an extra towel, pillow case and sheet, and left a note, and the items were on my bed when I returned. I mentioned in a previous review that there was no real sitting area -- but they just bought a little couch and more tables and chairs. There's an excellent controlled heating system to keep you warm during these cold nights. And you cannot beat the location: it's walking distance to the Metro, there's Giant food and many little cafes a block or two away, and a public library very nearby. I decided to re-book -- twice.
Nothing. There is no oven, but so what, the microwave is fine. You don't come to a hostel to make big meals. There's a big fridge and lots of storage space. Small problem with 2nd floor shower -- no hot water -- but the others are fine.

the staff are really relaxed about rules and the people staying there are really chill types that are pretty social its a bit sparse on the facilities but its cheap and theres a giant supermarket near by too also the filter coffee machine works so if you buy some coffee at giant its great
no lockers is a bit scary, i had to carry a bag every time i went out because im scared of using ny passport but it makes people more sociable checking eachother out

To improve bathroom service, consider implementing regular cleaning schedules to ensure cleanliness and hygiene. Additionally, providing essential amenities such as hand sanitizers, well-stocked toilet paper, and soap dispensers can enhance the overall user experience. Finally, clear signage and maintenance checks can help address any issues promptly, ensuring a smooth and pleasant visit for all users.

Location is excellent, close to two metros, grocery store, cafes and public library. Cleaned almost daily. Rooms have a closet. Heating is good. Great washer dryer for just $3.00 combined
The water is the main outstanding problem. Really only one fully functional shower with hot water. If you fiddle with the one on second floor you can get some warm not hot water, but not for long

It's right opposite swanky highrises with a Great ethnic 2story bar restaurant saw Jim Jordan there! The place is more a 4 story home with dorm rooms everybody super nice tons of diversity from students around the world
Not super luxurious ie. No fitness center etc, but it's more a "house hostel"
