I was in DC for a conference that was taking place across the street, and the Henley was an excellent - and much cheaper - alternative to the conference hotel. The staff were very friendly, and you cannot beat the location if you have work in that area of the city. It is only about a ten minute walk from the Vernon Sq metro station. The room was very clean and not dated at all. There is a bar on the ground floor that looked nice although I did not actually spend any time there.
Not much to complain about. The "classic" elevators are a little slow and musty smelling, but that is really the only minor concern I had.

Lovely old worldly hotel. Elegance and refinement. Warm dark wood bar and breakfast room serving very good food.Spacious rooms. Polite, likeable staff. Wonderful location within 20 minutes walking distance of monuments and buildings downtown and neighbourhoods to the north such as DuPo t Circle.
Not much. one could argue that the bathrooms were’t super modern, but they were very clean and we had no issue. Valet parking is expensive - $50+ per night. However there is public parking a block away on 9th street.

The position is perfect for anyone needing to attend the conference center, and in general is central. You can easily go walking to the White House and Capitol Hill. The building is beautiful and old-fashioned, and the personnel kind. My room was large and clean (and cleaned every day) and the bed was very comfortable.
I had problems paying with my debit card when I arrived. It was unpleasant since I was very tired and also the day after the problem was solved very easily by a different manager at the hotel. It would be nice if all the personnel knew how to handle situations like this in the same way. I know that credit cards are the golden standard, but many young europeans use international debit cards instead and I had no problem paying in any other place in DC. I really think that the hotel should work on this.

location, staff, clean
Unfortunately over the long weekend we stayed there was only breakfast, no food or bar service available, on request for bottled water we were advised to go across road to Marriott, as hotel was closing for repairs, but they were catering for privately booked afternoon teas and private parties, but as paying guests we were unable to get a hot drink or water. If we had been advised prior to booking or at check-In, we would have been able to make alternate plans or changed hotels, this information should have been made available it was deceitful not to advise. the accommodation was not cheap and the price could have been adjusted for our stay as a gesture of goodwill.

Boutique hotel with characters and history. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Location is excellent to walk to all the main museums (and Ford’s theatre, Portrait Gallery) and easy to connect via metro to the National Mall, George Town and Capitol etc. There are a few nice cafes and restaurants nearby. Definitely our first choice if visit DC again.
Not a great deal of option for breakfast choice, but there are Tatte and a few cafes nearby for alternative options.

We liked the location of the hotel, for the event we attended, we were able to walk most places.
our room was very small, it didn't have a dresser, it didn't have anyplace to put our bathroom things except on the counter, we had to ask for ice, each time we wanted it, and the first time the ice came right away, the second time, it NEVER came. The restaurant was just ok, the staff the first day they were pleasant, the second day, we were given a voucher from the front desk, and they waiter said you went over your allotment. I said we had yogurt and a bagel, my spouse had a breakfast sandwich and we went over. Yes, he said, but I'll talk with the manager and take care of it. I was like seriously.

The staff was helpful, friendly, professional and made me feel like my money was well spent given such a high quality experience. Everyone was attentive, polite, and focused on delivering exceptional customer service. Appreciated the late check out for 12pm and the option to work out of the library after checking out. Love the look and feel of the facility. Old fashioned, but clean and kept.
The shower didn't drain quickly in room 614 and their air conditioning couldn't cool to the temperature we set (attempted 68, stayed around 71). This isn't a dislike, just a note. The price is steep, but the experience made the expense worth it. I plan to stay there again when traveling.

Mike at the front desk was so great and welcoming. Honestly the man who took our dinner order at the restaurant so we could have dinner in our room was rude when I offered a tip. He insisted it was his because he took the order over the phone. It shouldn’t matter who it went to, a simple thank you would have sufficed. Not having dual air options was tough having a room on the street because we had to open the window. Otherwise, everything else was great. We will be back
Not having dual air options in the room. Having to open the windows for cool air when your room is on the street side gets very loud on weekends.

Chain hotels give me the creeps, and the Henley Park delivered a refreshing elegance that made the trip feel special. The lobby with its broken up rooms made for a gracious reception space. The room itself was also quite ennobling and extremely comfortable. A wonderful and refreshing ambiance after having to deal with oppressiveness of the convention center all day.
I wish the restaurant had been more practical to use - I can't justify $20 breakfasts every day - and with coffee and tip, there's almost no way to avoid spending that much no matter what you order. It's funny, had there been a few options that were less expensive, the restaurant would have made more money over the course of my stay than they did. Also, etiquette around which bar entrances (there are three) were "okay" to use was always unclear - as was when the bar was rented out for special events. Signage would be a help.
