lovely staff
the surprise $35 “hotel fee” PER DAY for Wi-Fi bottled water, use of the gym and a tote bag- are you kidding me? I loved the hotel- but the fee is insulting - if you want to charge more just charge more.

Loved our 3 night stay at Riggs. The hotel is very conveniently placed to explore the sights of Washington by foot but also near to the Metro if required. We actually took the Metro back to the airport at the cost of $4 as opposed to paying $80 for a taxi on our arrival, if only we’d known! Our room was extremely comfortable and clean, the breakfasts were very good and the staff, without exception, were lovely . All in all a great place to stay.

The helpful staff upon entering the building, they were extremely helpful, polite and nothing was too much trouble for them.👍🏻Mohammad at reception was very polite, helpful and friendly went out of his way to get a special treat of champagne and strawberries and chocolate.
In all inclusive breakfast, the first encounter with the main staff person was not impressive at all, the choices for the all exclusive breakfast were terrible I was shocked to be told I could only choose a tea or juice not both. On our second visit to the dining room for breakfast was the same food wise but the manager came and apologised for our experience the day prior, he was very pleasant and took our first breakfast off our bill as a credit very much appreciated.

Incredible location in the heart of DC with a wealth of restaurants right at your finger tips. Very cool hotel located in a refurbished bank building complete with an incredible bar in the bank's old vault. We ate at the hotel's restaurant for drinks and apps and then brunch the next day. Everything we ate was EXCELLENT and very reasonably priced for what you got (deliciousness and portion size). The setup of the hotel is really cool (old bank safe as the mini fridge, very interesting room interior design, etc). Cleanly and efficient stay that didn't break the bank (no pun intended!)
Only negative is that the room was quite small. You had to somewhat 'squeeze' into the bathroom b/c of the way the shower/toilet setup is. We were only there for 1 night so it wasn't a big deal but I could see this becoming more annoying for a multi-night stay. Would stay again but with spring for a bigger room size is my thought.

Staff was excellent and responsive to our needs. We had issues with the comfort of our bed and lack of storage space in the room. Caroline was exceptionally attentive to these concerns, changing our room and providing drawers for our use. As to the bed being too soft, she and other staff visited with us, tested the bed and bedding and worked out a solution that made our sleep comfortable - they went above and beyond to assure us of a pleasant, weeklong stay.
Rooms do not have adequate storage - other than a closet, there is no drawer space for belongings. Air condition/heating system in our room did not function properly; this issue has been noted by the hotel to correct for future guests.

We had breakfast included with the room rate. A dedicated menu offered a half dozen items (oatmeal, granola and fruit with yogurt, eggs and bacon with toast, avacado toast, pancakes, etc. Also included was a beverage. The food and service were excellent. The staff are all fantastic, ready to assist in any way. The rooms are very clean
Our room (two double bed) had no drawers or shelves, except for one closet by the bathroom which had a coat rod and a single shelf above. This meant almost no room to unpack. We basically lived out of our suitcases. It was a strange lapse for what is otherwise an excellent hotel.

This is a wonderfully appointed hotel. However, there was one really strange situation. We planned to be in town for 7 days so we had lots of clothes. Unfortunately, our room did not have a dresser, shelf, table, or anywhere else but a closet to store our clothes. I mean no where -- not one piece of furniture in which to store our unpacked clothes. We were told it was a "design choice"....No freakin' furniture as a design choice. And mind you, the room was spacious and comfy. It just didn't make any sense!!! Everything else is wonderful. The shower is wonderful, the closet is ample, the bedding is excellent, too!!!

Lovely, stylish hotel in a former bank building. Location is excellent for attractions and they are all in walking distance. Very close to the metro which has a direct line to Dulles airport. Room is nicely appointed. Loved the bank vault in the room keeping with the theme of the original building. Very comfortable large bed. Reception staff on arrival offered a glass of champagne as there was a short delay while they validated a credit card for extras.
The bathroom is very tiny and it is a bit odd to have the light switch inside behind the door. We didn't like the hotel policy of taking a $100 deposit per day for each day we stayed as we had paid in full prior to staying. It is an expensive hotel although I appreciate that is due to it being in central Washington. There was also a mix up with the reception team when we were checking out about settling the extras. The restaurant staff were also not able to split a dinner cost between two couples staying at the hotel.

I took my granddaughter to see a play at the nearby Shakespeare Theater. We live two hours away, so we spent the weekend there seeing friends and visiting museums. Also, the Christmas market is just outside the hotel's front door. We had a wonderful dinner in the hotel cafe. The staff throughout the hotel went above and beyond in every interaction. The only aspect that kept our comfort at less than 100% was the noise from the heating system regulating itself during the night. This is an old building, and I understand.

The location of the hotel was perfect for easy walking to the conference center and tourist sites. There were also some places that were more affordable for meals within walking distance. I also liked that there was coffee available in the rooms.
If the hotel bill wasn't covered by conference travel funds I don't think we would stay here again. The hotel is nice and staff were fantastic, but for the price there are hotels not much further away that are a better value and more comfortable. One thing I would note for business travelers is that - while I have no problem working from a bed (and that's why I was fine with us booking this hotel) - it is surprising that there isn't a small desk for business travelers to get some work done - especially at this hotel's price point.
