If you have not experienced a stay at a QT hotel, then you're missing out. Having previously stayed at QT Gold Coast recently for a work conference, I was already looking forward to staying at QT Newy because I knew it would be spectacular. But expectations were beyond met. It was a weekend away for my partners birthday- upon booking reservation I had made a mention of this, but little did I know what to expect. Check in was a delight experience by Yasmin. So bubbly and wonderful of a first greeting. We opened our room door and was greeted by birthday ballons, chilled prosecco and chocolates- with a beautiful hand written poem (later we found out that Yasmin was behind all of this!) We had cocktails on the rooftop that night as well as dinner at Jana. Special mention to our waitress Lauren and waiter Ben. Who also had given us a complimentary proseccos for my partners special dinner. All in all an amazing 2 night stay with the special touches. Thanks to the entire team for making us and our trip such a memorable one. We will absolutely be back!

Nothing at all!

Location, staff, room comfort

The parking situation needs to be improved. The walk between the Woolies carpark and the lobby is too long and involves walking outside which is quite inconvenient. The need to attain a barcode from reception each time we left the car park was inconvenient. Also, on Saturday night we could not get a hotel reserved space in the carpark, although we were fortunate to find a staff member who could let us park in the caged area reserved for valet parking. The self-check-in was also very inconvenient and was below our expectations of a high quality hotel. It was confusing why this was needed given there is a concierge desk.

This is easily the best hotel in Newcastle and an amazing addition to the city. Such a great vibe and personality to the hotel. Room was incredibly comfortable and we'll designed. Rooftop bar was a great spot for some drinks before heading off to dinner in the city.

The only improvement I would make is the infotainment system (ie. ipad, TV and phone app). It was really difficult to navigate and find useful information. I'd recommend dialling down the "cool" a bit and focusing more on creating an app that's useful for your guests. There's some really simple information you could add such as the WiFi password and check out details that would make life a lot easier (and if that information is already there, I didn't find it!)

The rooms were really quite nice. I booked 1 room early and the price was excellent. The room was huge and comfortable and they gave me 2 free welcome drinks. Nice touch with chocolates as well. On the second night, I moved into a different room that was much smaller but also nice with a great bathtub. The beds are very nice. The hotel is modern and has nice decor with a lovely rooftop bar and a nice restaurant downstairs.

The staff always seemed a little bothered when helping you. I'm not sure if that was just me not knowing how to read Australians or not. But, I did always feel like I was bothering the people at reception when I had an issue. Parking is a bit expensive, but valet is available. The 2nd night I booked on arrival was double the price of the first night I'd booked and it was for a smaller room. I realize it was for a holiday weekend, but it felt like quite a price gouge.

Room was comfortable and nicely furnished

We needed to move rooms as the first room had a noisy air conditioning duct that would have caused sleep disturbance. The surrounding precinct is very run down and does not present well to visitors. On site parking (Woolworths) was full when we checked in at 6pm on a Saturday. The only on-street parking was on the hill above the hotel which is inconvenient and unsuitable for disabled access (I have medical conditions which make walking, particularly on steep grades, difficult)

The roof was beautifully fitted out - QT really knows how to pay attention to the detail. The building is stunning. Staff were flawless - friendly, helpful, and allowed to express their personality. The lifts - who doesn't have QT lifts.

The included breakfast was fine, but not to the standard of the rest of the property. When were were researching Newcastle we wondered whether we should dine in Jana but reviews suggested otherwise - we had dinner at Flotilla which was a great experience. But, breakfast was included with our booking so we did what any sensible person would do and took them up on it. But, the quality of the food wasn't as perfect as anything else. This was confirmed by the cocktail my companion had pre-dinner. Lacking in the usual punch that we enjoy in a mojito. Seems their F&B has a way to come but everything else is pretty much flawless. Would I stay again? Absolutely.

Fabulous quirky hotel. Contemporary and luxury without the high price. Hotel staff are well versed in customer service excellence and make you feel welcomed and special. The room is amazing, mini bar with Mumm and four pillars gin, the good stuff! Cannot fault the hotel or staff. On arrival I had just worked a 12 hour shift at a hospital and I was so tired by check in which for me was 9.30pm. The lovely Blake could see I was tired and offered to make me a cup of tea and I nearly cried because of his awareness towards a guest and his kindness. Thank you Blake x

Clean and luxury design. We enjoyed in this hotel as everything was respectful and warm. Pricy but it’s worth. Hadn’t chance to try their cafe or restaurant because they were closed for Christmas but room was great. The best hotel in Newcastle so far. I wish they had beach view. Thankfully this hotel was so quiet and wasn’t noisy. We could rest without hearing kids scream, load music or our next room’s guys conversation because isolation between rooms was completely standard which is so important for a hotel. Staff had a great cooperation with us and let us to check in earlier than 3 pm without even charge me extra. I’m so appreciated. Only one thing was a bit annoying! Music in the lift! I suggest they change the music at night in the lift as that music I heard wasn’t suitable for 11 pm 🤣 I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back again.

Had to get a bus and taxi to go to the beach. Not far but not as much close to be able to walk with kids in hot weather.

Exceptional decor and fit out. High quality fittings including a dyson hair-dryer, polished brass tapware and high end toiletries. The bathroom was an interesting design, with glass Walls letting natural light in. The waterfall shower head was bliss. Water was hot and instant. The bed was very comfortable. Medium firmness yet supportive and plush at the same time. The ipad was very useful in ordering room service. Mini bar was ok, some fun options but nothing special. Excellent location right on the tramline and wharf. The rooftop bar was incredible. Delicious cocktails, very nice food, breathtaking views. I felt like i was in Europe again.

In house parking was expensive so we parked across the street (free between 5pm and 9am). Room service menu was pretty sad after 9.30pm. Very limited in that time slot. Breakfast was ok, tasty and nice to have some Italian bread. Shame about the poached eggs being overcooked, so were hard.
