Hotel Ernest

The place has been through an extreme makeover and it’s all new. I was happy to see they invested on an AC system, which is not common at all in Europe (specially in France) and very useful during hot days. Staff extremely friendly. I hope they keep up the energy. Few steps away from subway (line 7) which makes it easier to access any place in Paris.

No elevators, but I can understand since it’s an old building. So if you have heavy luggage, be aware of that.

The location is perfect as its only around 2 mins walk to a metro station. Getting around Paris was convenient. There is also a supermarket just across from the hotel, and loads of restaurants and bars/pubs nearby. It is a pretty basic hotel but the staff were accommodating and the place is tidy and clean. Despite it being busy and buzzing outside, we slept very comfortably throughout the night.

We had a room on the 5th floor and there wasn’t any lift. I was also pregnant hence it was a challenge going up the stairs especially after a long walk around the city. Although this might have been in the description, I think I missed the no lift or disabled access.

Very pleased with the location! It is so so easy to get around. There’s a metro like a minute away and gate du nord walking distance. There are soo many restaurants around which massively helps! The staff were really friendly and approachable and did seemingly try their best to help us when we needed help even if unsuccessful. The room isn’t massive but from want I hear of Paris not too bad. It is so beautifully decorated and we would stay here again. We had a balcony which was nice if you can, good for people watching! :)

The Netflix didn’t work on our tv and they tried to sort this but couldn’t fix it. We had a fire stick thankfully and this sorted it for us so recommend you bring one if you have it and ask for an extension lead. The stairs are exercise lol but we were aware so no complaints. There was a stain on the carpet which seemed permanent not great to have but it was fine really as everything was clean.

Though fairly small, our room was tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed, crisp white bed linen and big fluffy towels, coffee machine and kettle, and a well appointed bathroom. Vintage fashion drawings on the wall were a nice Parisian touch. It was 30 degrees outside and the air conditioning was glorious! Sow and the other staff were very helpful. Location right next to Poissoniere metro station and within east walking distance of Gare du Nord were ideal for us and there are some decent bars and restaurants close by.

It’s an old and character filled building, so there’s no lift and you need to climb a spiral staircase to the 5th floor: the staff are on hand to help with luggage, but I wouldn’t want to lug a huge case up to the top!

The hotel staff is absolutely helpful and kind. The suite is perhaps not exactly a suite, but a large and comfortable room with desks and armchairs. The mattress is excellent. The bathroom is not that large, but modern and neat. The whole place is perfectly clean. The hotel is at a short distance from the Poissonnière underground station as well as Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord train stations. As a bonus, the hotel provides different snacks for free. It was quite a pleasant stay.

Mind the staircase! You have to climb six floors. The AC did not work properly.

1. The reception workers are great! They are super friendly and nice, loved the communication. 2. Water and other drinks at the kitchen. Really appreciate this especially during the summer. 3. For me, location is amazing. Subway station is right around the corner, and some attractions are in the walking distance. 4. Hot water in the shower! For some places I’ve stayed in, getting water warm would take a while. Here the water pressure and temperature have been satisfactory.

1. Bed was a bit squeaky. It didn’t ruin my sleep though but for some people can be an issue. 2. The safety of the location is challenging as the whole area is considered not secure. I walked from the Nord Station directly to the hotel at midnight, and didn’t experience any problem. But it’s worth to watch out! 3. No elevator and a super narrow ladder. There’s no hotel’s fault in here, and the stuff has helped me to lift up the suitcase.

Great location, 2 minute walk to a metro station surrounded by restaurants, boulangeries, cafes and a shop opposite. A coffee machine and kettle provided in room. Room was very clean and cleaned every day, slightly small but standard for Paris. Comfy big bed and smart tv! Staff all very friendly and helpful, thank you.

No mini fridge in the room to keep own water bottles cold, also no drawers for clothing storage. Loud noise coming from behind air con eve though it wasn’t on, almost like a water cistern constantly filling, not sure what this was or why it was continuously making noise.

This small hotel is in between Gare de Lyon and the city's main attractions. The Metro is a 2-minute walk from the hotel, and Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est are not very far away. My sister and I shared a room, and although it was not big, it was very clean, the shower had a good water pressure and the bathroom was spotless. It was airconditioned, had a TV, and a coffee machine. The reception is always manned, and the hotel personnel were very nice. They offer free coffee and water.

I was surprised that it didn't have an elevator, and not really.for people with multiple and heavy bags.

This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway if you want to go sightseeing. The hotel room was very clean and the staff very helpful at all times. I only stayed in the hotel room to shower & sleep - if you want to work from your hotel room, you can do that (the WIFI is good!), but I think it is really better suited for people who are looking for an accomodation with great vlaue for money and who want to spend plenty of time outside exploring Paris instead of staying in the hotel room the majority of the time.

This is a small hotel with a tiny reception/ common room that doesn't look like much, but the rooms are newly refurbished and very clean. The room was good size with a good and practical layout with lots of shelving space. The bed, bedding and cushions were very comfortable, which is very important for a good night's sleep. The location was great for us, very close to Gare du Nord but also walking distance from Montmartre and the Seine, and close to an underground train station. Don't bother having breakfast there, there are great bakeries nearby and a supermarket just across.
