Hotel Montholon

Wonderful, helpful staff who were friendly throughout my stay. Location is great, far enough from Gare du Nord that it’s not sketchy but still within 10min walk to station. Metro stops close by. Galleries Lafayette 15min walk opposite direction, overall one of my favourite neighbours I’ve stayed in Paris (less touristy). Room/ bathroom was spacious, modern and very clean. I will definitely be booking Hotel Montholon when I return to Paris.

Only reason I didn’t rate this accomodation 10/10 was that the room lacked a little soundproofing to noise directly outside the door (other guests coming and going). Not a huge worry as only a couple of rooms on each floor.

Location: Montholon Square itself has a great variety of trees including the remarkable 'Maidenhair tree' (little changed since the Jurassic, and the only living thing to have survived within a mile of the Hiroshima A-bomb blast). Also, the steps from rue Pierre Semard up to rue Bellefond passing over it have bags of atmospheric Parisian charm. The ground floor breakfast room looks out onto these features.

The room itself needed better lighting and the fan struggled to keep it cool enough for July. However, it was an interesting design that showed innovative use of wood and mirrors.

Location is excellent. It is close to the metro stations and there are many good restaurants around within 10 min walk.

- the wall is a bit thin (probably typical for this price in center area of Paris) - the bathroom design makes water easily stay on the floor

The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. The room was smaller than imagined but really nicely decorated and had everything you needed still. The bathroom was exceptional with a walk in shower. Small shop next door for drinks and amenities which was great too.

The street outside was quite busy however I am a light sleeper and it wasn’t loud once in the room with windows shut. The lift was very close to our room which was a bit loud on a night.

The hotel is in an amazing location in the 9th arrondisment of Paris, with access to great restaurants and cafes. We walked everywhere and did not take transport once (except to/from airport). The room was impeccable - very clean, fresh with plenty of space. A lot of hotels in Paris are a bit dark and dingy, but this one is completely different. The staff are amazing and very accomodating.

There's nothing I can complain about, I thought it was a perfect stay. I will stay again next time I go to Paris, and recommend this hotel to everyone.

Wonderful stay! We celebrated our birthdays and got a room upgrade and chocolates from the lovely man in the reception. We got to the hotel very early and he insisted we wait 30 minutes and gave us the great room that we got :)

The room wasn't the cleanest we've seen, but it wasn't too bad.

the rooms were very clean & were cleaned every single day. the location was absolutely great too with easy access to restaurants & bars & shops.

the walls can be a bit too thin, this didn’t bother us as we were out the entire day & never found it too discomforting. the bathroom did tend to overflow into the room if not careful but we dealt with that so wasn’t too bad & room was also cleaned daily which helped with that.

The best thing about the hotel is the central location overlooking the Montholon park. It is located walking distance (30 minutes) to Montmartre, the Louvre and other top sights. The Metro station is really close and the area has many nice cafés and restaurants.The room is comfortable and clean and it has a water heater so you can have some coffee or tea. The staff was friendly.

The only thing that wasn't so great was the noise from the street in the evening, but it wasn't too bad.

Such a good value for money hotel with an excellent location. Waling distance from the station and very close to lots of restaurants / bars. I really wasn't expecting much from the outside and upon entering the reception and tiny rickety lift, but was so pleasantly surprised by my room. Light, clean and contemporary.

The location was excellent, just 5 minutes walk from Gare du Nord, right in the centre, and was a bus stop right at the front door. The room was super comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay again when back in Paris.
