Royal Saint Michel

We have enjoyed our short stay in Royal Saint Michel Hotel. One might comment on the size of the room and the tiny elevator, but we won't. Saint-Germain-des-Prés is our favorite neighbourhood in Paris, and we keep returning. Over years, we have booked rooms in different hotels in the area, and we can quite knowledgeably compare different offers. Royal Saint Michel's location is perfect: close to restaurants, major tourist attractions such as Holy Chapel, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sorbonne, Pierre Hermé boutique & café, Le Procope, Place de Furstenberg, Luxembourg Gardens, The Pantheon, Shakespeare and Company etc.), but also to the RER station - line B, which means direct connection to the airport. We had a quiet room facing the courtyard, full of light in the morning. The bed was comfortable. Coffee and tea were available anytime. We are grateful for being accommodated an early check-in which offered us some additional hours of strolling the streets and enjoying Paris. We plan to return.

Location is excellent, close to direct train to the airport, close to the main attractions. Room was spacious and clean, tea and coffee possibilities. Breakfast was good, although the breakfast room is quite small. Internet connection was good, even for video meetings.

It was really strange that if the lights are off, the electricity plugs are not working too, so it is not possible to charge devices at nights.

We loved the Royal Saint Michel. Five nights to celebrate our 20th anniversary, delighted to find a chilled bottle of Jacquart Champagne on ice with lovely glasses, a note wishing us a pleasant stay--and a handwritten Happy Anniversary! Every inch was spotless (reception, breakfast room (great food and coffee), hallways, stairs, elevator, our room.) We loved it, the bedding felt extravagant, pillows just right. Two tall windows, each had sheer curtains, black-out curtains, and a third set; kept out heat, sound and light when closed. The decor was beautiful, rich sienna tones and elegant wood, artistic B/W photos of old Paris. It was beautiful! Bathroom was perfect, with no loud fan when the light comes on like some places. Marble sink area, great mirror, & a proper magnifying mirror. Lotion was nice, barely a scent as it should be; matching body wash, plenty hot water. Luggage rack, enough room to tuck away once unpacked. The closet was good with shelves and a safe that worked! We had sweets on our pillows each night, our AC was a relief to walk into after a hot day. We had a small refrigerator with complimentary goodies inside, coffee, milk, electric kettle, proper coffee mugs, spoons, quality napkins. They thought of everything. And each time I asked for ice it was delivered promptly to our room by a lovely woman. The housekeeping staff were so kind and thorough. The reception lady was fantastic, she booked our departure taxi for us. The location was ideal, a block away from the Seine, 10 mins to ND and S Chappell, restaurants on the doorstep. We WILL return! The elevator was tiny, but who cares, you're in Paris! They also delivered our bags to our room too, so it was quirky and we loved it.

The location is excellent, i would say perfect - all the must-see places in Paris are within walking distance (even the Eiffel Tower, which is 4 km away - you need comfortable shoes), a metro station is about 50-100 meters away from the hotel and there is also a bus stop 25 metres from the hotel entrance. The breakfast was good to very good (the quality was very good, but the range of products was not very wide). A big thank you to the hotel reception staff, very helpful and kind.

The location is simply fantastic, at least for our plan of visiting Paris. A bus/metro station is right in front of the hotel (bus line 38 to/from Gare de l'Est), great options for cafe, eating, drinking, both in quantity and quality. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful, and the room contained everything you might need.

There is nothing that I could complain about. Maybe the only thing that comes to mind as a complain is that some noises of the one other room were a bit audible but it was not a problem after you spend sufficient time in sightseeing and maybe drinking wine.

Location could not have been any better. If you're happy to do a bit of walking you can walk to a lot of the great sites from the Royal Saint Michel. It's got an abundance of great places to eat and drink nearby, there's a Metro right beside it if walking isn't your thing. Also, the B train from CDG airport stop is about a 4 minute walk to the hotel and it takes about 40 minutes. The hotel also does a turn down service in the evenings which I thought was a nice thing, I had never seen it done anywhere else I have stayed. A little touch of class :-) If you do stay here, be sure to have a breakfast in Le Depart Saint Michel on the corner. It's excellent. We didn't have the breakfast in the hotel but that was not a reflection on the hotel, my family new Le Depart from a previous visit. I will 100% stay here again for my next trip to Paris.

The location of this hotel is excellent, 2 minute walk to Notre Dame, 2 minute walk to the RER B that goes to CDG (on the non river side of the street there is an elevator that goes to the RER if you have luggage), 1 minute walk to the metro or RER A or C. Lots of restaurants nearby that are open late and souvenir shopping. Room was large by Paris standards and the room was comfortable and clean. It was very humid in Paris so we used the A/C. With the windows open there was a bit of street noise as there is a restaurant or club across the street that plays loud music late. The bed was comfortable enough, it was heaven compared to the budget hotels we had been staying at on this trip. We got a room on the 6th floor, which is the top floor, and could even see a little of the Eiffel Tower out our window. Bathroom has a hair dryer, shampoo/lotion/body wash. Tile floors, nicely laid out. Check in was smooth and easy as was checkout. We did not have the breakfast. There was an electric kettle and tea in the room. There was a space for a small fridge but I didn't see one. The is a safe in the room. We got an excellent rate on our room, presumably because tourism is way down. At the rate we paid, this hotel is a 10.

Shower was a little small, I turned the water off with my hip a couple of times. The elevator is super tiny, only one person at a time unless you are really small. No way two people could fit with their luggage. Both really minor inconveniences.

Superclose to Saint Michel and all the restaurants in the area. Comfortable room 602 high up on 6:th floor. Very friendly reception on 5:th when we arrived. Woman in charge was friendly and very helpful. Luggage was taken up to the room by staff since the elevator was fairly small. Great help. Good selection of breakfast. Very nice hotel!

The staff in the breakfast room could be more helpful. They had a minor difficulty to communicate with us and some other guests. Maybe small signs in both French and English, explaining what the different items are like “Milk”, “Tea water” and “Coffe”. Another guest poured milk by mistake into the husbands cup with a Teabag in, believing it was Tea water. Also names of cheese and ham/turkey/salamis would be helpful, especially for people with allergies.

The rooms were comfortable. You are a few mere steps from the metro st michel/seine/ place st michel. A block or two from Cluny/Sorbonne, ste chapelle, notre dame. A small carrefour is across the plaza. Lots of shops/restaurants. Great location. A big pricey-but that is paris. Small...again, paris. Small elevator (did I mention "paris"? lol). Just setting the expectations. Two people max in an elevator (or one with a suitcase). The rooms were comfortable. Bathrooms/rooms were clean. Staff was super friendly and helpful with luggage/etc. fantastic location. Heat worked. Had a small view out of the windows to ND. I will stay here again, if available/price works/etc. A taxi from here to the Louvre was 7 euros (I was travelling with my 80 yo parents who can't do the stairs of the metro). There is a crepe stand at the entrance...nbd, but nice to snag in the morning.
