Petousis Hotel & Suites

The hotel staff were amazing, the gentlemen at the reception was really the highlight of our stay here at Petousis Hotel; he went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic and gave a VIP treatment for myself and my gf. The room were really clean, really spacious, and had great amendities in our suite. Water pressure was perfect.

The hotel is well located, close to the city, airport and the main historical sights where you can get either by bus (the bus stop is right at the corner) or by taxi (that does not cost much due to a rather close distance). The beach is a 5 min walk, although do not expect much - it is rather dirty. The food at the restaurant was good, there were enough options to choose from. The staff was nice and attentive. The live music during the evenings was good; the musicians created a nice atmosphere.

The building we stayed in seems to have been recently renovated; however, the renovation was really basic. The rooms need more serious refurbishment (the bathroom items looked rather poor and were partially broken/scratched, for instance; the sofa had a bad smell and was not comfortable - you simply fell down while sitting; too little space for drying clothes - a beach towel does not fit on the drier since it is too short)

For us everything started with Mr. Harris the reception manager. He is a kind, warm, friendly and professional man. He welcomed us with a big smile and agreed to show us the room before check-in (we usually ask to see the room before definite check-in) promising us that we would like it. We liked it:-) The contact with the other 2 receptionists (unfortunately we don´t remember their names) was extremely pleasant and helpful! They helped us with good advises regarding our stay in Heraklion . The room (201) was clean and specious, the bad is good and supporting and the small but well equipped shower was one of the BEST we had! The lightning in the room is very pleasant and gives a cozy feeling. The 2 verandas are specious and looking over the pools and the sea. With the car it took us 15 minutes to get to the central parking place in the old city. It means for us: A good location. We like to stay in a quiet neighborhoods close to the city´s centers. The location of the hotel in Gazi was ideal for us personally.

That is a major issue for us: On the ground floor of the Hotel there is a restaurant that is also open for the public. Unfortunately the smell of cooking and frying pans is very present in the lobby AND on the floors (we were in room 201 on the second floor). The smell of burning oil is not something that we would like to experience while staying in an hotel.

Petousis Hotel & Suites was a lovely place to stay for our trip in early September. Great and spacious rooms, newly renovated, clean rooms and bathrooms, decent variety and selection for breakfast and dinner, clean pool and not overly crowded, and fun little town /location to explore at night.

Beach nearby wasn't anything special. It was close to an industrial plant, so we actually travelled to other beaches by day with our car. The hotel's restaurant also had an african grey (pet bird) that they need to take better care of (more water changes and cage/food bowl cleaning) - it was a bit disappointing to see his living conditions as he was such a sweetheart. And the dinner could be a bit fresher towards the end of service.

Honestly, I cannot all I loved into one box. Firstly, I loved that everywhere I went in the hotel, everyone had a smile on their face. From the receptionist, John/Elena or Nikoletta, to Irini and Theo constantly going the extra mile for me. I had a suite & the pool was always clean. The room was large & comfortable, it had a beautiful view. I loved how I could use the pool at anytime of the day. Ovi and Jannis were so helpful with the continental breakfast each morning, they went above and beyond! The drinks were amazing, I couldn’t stop with cocktails & Gyros lol. I cannot express how kind the staff were. They were so patient and helpful when finding out where to explore. It really made my stay in this hotel wonderful. I will definitely be coming back. The Petousis Restaurant was amazing, SO MUCH variety. I also learned some greek!😭

More variety with buffet breakfast & repaint room walls. Asides from this, 10/10.

Breakfast is good but not really 4-star quality. Room clean and spacious, comfortable beds. Friendly staff - possible to get lunch packet if you cannot be for breakfast. Good pools, internet access without problems.

Breakfast: coffee could have been much better than instant coffee. Same with juices. The fridge in the room was not really keeping things cool.

Spotlessly clean & well maintained with staff that are genuinely nice & helpful, the pictures are totally accurate. Really good double glazing so you can barely hear outdoor noise & rooms are comfortable with modern equipment. Plenty of space at the pools & the breakfast was fresh & tasty. We asked for late checkout & our room wasn’t available but they gave us another, better room for the day which made such a difference to the last day of our trip. Would definitely stay here again.

The location is a bit far out. Not sure if it was time of year or just because it’s pretty much the edge of town but there weren’t many restaurant options nearby. However the bus service into Heraklion is frequent & reliable so it’s easy to get into town if you want to & if you don’t mind walking 10 mins you’ll find a wider selection of restaurants.

We made a last minute booking and arrived at midnight. We still could have a drink and they had upgraded us to a suite. It was just amazing. The quality and choice of breakfast was exceptional and the Manager talked to customers and supported the staff in the breakfast. I was so impressed We were able to use the pool the next day before our onward journey and it was so well organised and quiet. The quality of the food at the pool was brilliant. Would come back in a heart beat. We had a car delivered to our hotel the next morning and within 5 minutes we were on the main road to Rethmynon. Great location and 25 euros in a taxi from the airport. Was perfect for our holiday plans.

The rooms were extremely clean and staff very helpful. I am a neat freak and felt completely comfortable walking around barefoot. That is huge.

Location is conveniently located a short walk to the beach. However, the pictures make it seem like it is actually on the beach. That wasn't a problem though. My only negative point is that it's not a very exciting part of town. So be prepared to have to drive or take a bus into town (only 15min away).

This hotel is a decent one, if you are staying with kids. They have a nice pool with kids pool area. The taverna attached to the hotel also has a big section for kids to play around and have fun. It is very safe. The hotel is very close to the Heraklion city center and 15-20 mins away from the airport. There is a small beach in walking distance. Rooms are pretty new and well maintained.

The location, for me was good but not that perfect. However thats not a bad sign when you compare to all other things positive in the hotel
