Sofia Hotel

Staff is super friendly an helpful. Rooms are comfortable and clean with a small refrigerator. Hotel has a nice outdoor pool to cool down on hot days with a small hotel bar where you can buy drinks. Breakfast was very good. Location close to airport, and a 10 min drive to the city. East parking. Third time we spend a night at Hotel Sofia and will come back when next time in Irakleio.

Only downside is noise . . Hotel is close to airport and next to start corridor. However, it was the same with a city center hotel ... noise from planes taking off from Irakleio is paramount innthe entire city

We reserved this hotel for one night as it is very close to the airport and we were arriving very late. We went to get our rental car the morning after. The taxi ride from the airport was very short, with our luggage it was 15 euros (we think the driver inflated the price). The late check in was easy, the reception staff was friendly, the room was clean and the beds were comforatble. Breakfast was great too - we are outside by the pool. If you have a late arrival or early departure from the Heraklion airport, this is a wonderful place to stay near the airport.

Everthing was as expected and the price was low - no complaints!

nice and clean room. breakfast is average. great for a one night stay when you arrive late or leave early from the airport. we took a taxi for 10 euros and I would not recommend walking from or to the airport with suitcases because there is not a sidewalk all the way. without a suitcase it is a 15min walk which we tested in the morning to pick up our rental car.

we had a room on the first floor and I woke up at 7am because of the noise in the hallway. it is very loud when people pass by with suitcases and talk.

Good parking (off street in the hotel's own open-air parking lot just a few steps from the lobby), very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent convenient location less than 2km from Heraklion airport. Good restaurants within easy walking distance. WiFi worked very well. Very nice (and very clean) swimming pool.

The blankets on the beds were not very good. The smart TV didn't work very well. Floors could be a little cleaner (not really dirty but a bit dusty). The lift is very small and a bit quirky (although this seems to be quite common in Greek hotels).

The location was great, close to the airport and with convenient for bus routes into Heraklion. There are a variety of places to eat within easy walking distance and bakeries and coffee shops close by. The breakfast was reasonable for the inclusive price and the on-site bar / cafe for snacks was very convenient when you have been travelling and don't want to move far. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The beds are very firm - but that is a personal opinion. The small safe is one of the older ones you can't fit a laptop in.

We were looking for a place near the airport, this was just round the corner. Great welcome from the staff, very helpful. Lovely pool and seating area outside for breakfast. Breakfast was very good - lots of choice (savoury and sweet pastries, yoghurt, eggs, coffee, juice etc). Hotel was very quiet.

This is not a criticism of the hotel - our taxi driver overcharged us for a ride from Heraklion airport at 15 euros when it should have been 8-10 Euros. The receptionist at the hotel was as annoyed as us which we appreciated.

The staff are absolutely amazing and went out of their way to make us welcome.We arrived around 11pm after our flight had been delayed and they reopened the kitchen for us and we could have a warm meal which was heaven. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and the shower strong and warm . The hotel is a few minutes in a taxi from the airport. The pool looked very inviting but we were only staying overnight, so did not have opportunity to enjoy it. Breakfast had good warm and continental options, also cakes. I am booking this hotel again our return flight and every future trip to Crete!

The only issue issue-if I had to say something- was that the grout between the tiles in the shower could do with a bleach.

The from desk staff, particularly Maria, were fantastic. Due to unforeseen events unrelated to the hotel, we were forced to cut our trip short and leave a day early. Maria went above and beyond to find out information and assist with our hasty departure. The location was perfect for us, very close to the airport and easily accessible to public transportation. We rented a car one day which was facilitated by another of the wonderful front desk staff, that was a very pleasant experience

One of the beds was a little firmer than I like

The location is great and easy to get to by road, it is also on an easy bus route to Heraklion. The helpfulness of the staff was appreciated and the on-site parking was just right as we were able to arrive early. The surrounding area has bakeries, restaurants, other shops and pharmacies as well as places for coffee and tavernas and local fast food.

I loved everything except the bed was too hard for me to sleep, and when I'm travelling that is really important to sleep well and be fresh and alert for the new day ahead.

We booked for the second time as it Sofia is most convenient for the airport. As we arrived in Iraklion quite late so we stayed over till the morning before our two hour drive to the east. Our room was clean, comfortable and airy. The breakfast was a little different for us Brits but we found the dishes very tasty and well catered.

Having to leave, but we had a villa to go to. We are thinking that we might try to stay a few days here to get to see the Archaeological Museum; another time perhaps
