Hotel Villa La Principessa

We rented a car to easily get to the property and sight see. We wanted something in the countryside that was historical and this place did not disappoint. It’s beautiful inside and out. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless. Having your own A/C in the room was wonderful. I had asked them to leave a happy birthday note for our daughter, instead they left a small wrapped present wishing her a happy birthday! We loved exploring the grounds and main rooms. The restaurant they have at the hotel was absolutely delicious. The staff was very polite and friendly.

La Principessa is a beautiful traditional villa hotel with delightful and helpful staff. Our room was on the 3rd floor with wall to wall floral wallpaper (my husband thought it was a bit OTT but I loved it). We had the most beautiful views of the garden and pool. The pool is fantastic - huge and peaceful. The breakfasts were exceptional - lots of choice. We ate a couple of lunches and dinner - simple but delicious and the pasta some of the best we had on our trip. Great location 10 mins from Lucca (by car, would not recommend walking as a very busy road with no pavement). 30 mins from Pisa so excellent for trains and airport. Would definitely recommend and return.

Bathrooms slightly outdated but fully functional

Loved peaceful rural setting yet close to Lucca, classical Tuscany hospitality with the elegance of a bygone era. Jewel in the crown was the staff, unfailingly courteous, knowledgeable and helpful.

Tiny shower unit in my room but every room is different - my friends room had a nice big modern shower.

Location was excellent for visiting Lucca. So was close and was v good to have pool and peaceful garden setting. Rather than staying in Lucca. Building had historic character. Room was vg, spacious, big bathroom. Staff very friendly, efficient.

ONE The location on a v busy road with no footpaths proved awkward, Thus nowhere to walk or run nearby. I am a runner. First morning I navigated main road to find a hill to run up but was dangerous. Next 3 mornings I drove. Second, was v difficult turning left out of hotel onto the busy road. TWO The restaurant was good and bad. Great location and service but food be careful. My gnocchi and tomato was forgettable. Soup much better.

great place with a very special vibe. maybe more suitable for couples than for couple with a kid…but even with the kid we have felt welcome. very comfortable beds, I slept like a baby (it is very rare for me to sleep as good as I slept here). nice and large pool in beautiful garden. so calm. very (very!!!!!) hepful guy at the pool bar. great location if you want to visit main places in toscany

the breakfast was not the best. i think that the potential in such wonderful place is much bigger than what we have experienced. no ala carte eggs, the pastry was not good, fruit was not served in its best way. variety should have been better. i didnt really want to taste any of the cheeses or hams because of the serving… the restaurant for the evenings is kind of full, so you need to do a reservation (we were told by receptionist). after all we didnt try it because of its poor selection in menu, maybe next time

The villa is a stunning historical building which is well kept and maintained. We had a room for 3 and it was spacious and generally well appointed. Although quite a few rooms were occupied, it never felt crowded. The air conditioner was quiet and effective. Breakfast was good. The pool area was lovely. The staff were excellent, very helpful with calling us taxis etc.

Nothing really. It was a bit more difficult than elsewhere to charge mobile phones during the night, since if you switched off the lights, there would be no power in the sockets. Wifi was a bit slow at times. Notwithstanding all this, I would happily stay there again.

Truly beautiful country house hotel and gardens. Large, useful swimming pool with bar service there. Good sized comfortable room which filled with the scent of abundant jasmine growing outside. Located outside Lucca so taxi costs to be factored in if not arriving by car. Generally about 20/25 euros each time.

An otherwise outstanding hotel a little let down by the quality of food within their restaurant. I hasten to add, not the service there, which was first class, but the food offering - which was fine, or ordinary, which was a shame in an extraordinary setting.

Lovely garden setting of a traditional Villa Hotel. Excellent attention from all the staff. Good breakfast and dinner was of a good quality and reasonable price. Comfortable beds and we had a modern recently refurbished bathroom (I understand some are older style).

Quirky decor which was probably in fashion about 40 years ago, so a little tired.

I love the location, the garden, the enormous height of the entrance hall and the fact that it is an ancient villa. We had a junior suite that I liked very much. The coffee is very good and the breakfast is quite good.

The bath was small, the shower was really minute you could hardly turn around. They only had plastic cups in the bathroom that were thrown away every day - not very sustainable. Also, for a hotel of this category it would be nice to have fabric napkins for breakfast, not the thin ones made of paper.

My stay was great. A hotel staffer picked me up from the station and drove me to the hotel. The hotel is a great get away and is very relaxing. The pool is large and can fit everyone. They have a bar and a lovely restaurant.

The window in my bedroom was small. The wifi also was very spotty in my room. You need a car or cash for a taxi to get into the centre.
