Hotel Locarno

Breakfast was excellent, offering lots of high quality choices served to the table so to avoid all the waste of buffets. I love the location on a small, mostly quiet street off the main shopping drag. The art nouveau design is lovely and understated and the courtyard very pretty. The room sizes are spacious and our room had a large walk-in shower.

Our room was on the ground floor so was noisy on the weekend. Double-paned window would remedy this. I was also surprised and disappointed that the hotel doesn't seem to be aware of the ecological movement in hotels: they changed sheets and towels every day.

Amazing staff, great location, gorgeous room, delicious breakfast. I stayed at this hotel a few years ago for work, and when my husband and I decided to return to Rome for our anniversary, I didn't look anywhere else. This hotel is WONDERFUL. The staff are literally incredible, they help make the stay that extra bit of wonderful. Breakfast - delicious, and what an accommodating staff there too! We spent time in the bar one night - excellent cocktails. We stayed in a deluxe room, which was a really nice size and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfy, the room was cool (it was 35+ all week weather wise) and the room felt like it was OURS. If you want to stay somewhere luxurious, that doesn't just feel like a standard fancy Brand Hotel - but a fantastic, unique experience - stay here. We loved it... again!

Incredible beauty and service. The owners have created a very rare environment with a high level of kindness and care. The design has a natural warmth and beauty I have never experienced before in a 5 star hotel. There is great structure here of proper service without rigidity and control. The staff makes it look easy while they provide perfect service. The owners obviously care about their guests and have a very sophisticated method of managing staff in order to create this high level of service that totally rare to do look and make look effortlessly.

It was perfect in all regards

Excellent location. 30 minutes or less to walk to main attractions. Breakfast good. Nothing was too much trouble. Service was very high standard and excellent. All staff were amazing - they made a wonderful difference to our stay. The rooms good and in nice building and neighbourhood. Nice courtyard, open fire in cosy bar. Very clean - impressive housekeeping. Evening turndown service was a nice touch.

Rooms were quite expensive. Bedrooms on 2nd floor were noisy and difficult to sleep in. Noise coming from outside - loud sirens, people talking, road traffic throughout the night. We did not get good sleep at all due to the noise, even with windows closed. Hotel and bedrooms felt quite hot with no air conditioning and no way to adjust the temperature other than to open the window. Breakfast was sometimes cold (eg eggs/bacon/beans/mushrooms were cold). Airport transfer was expensive compared to taxis. Bar drinks and food are expensive, 23 euro for a cocktail.

The service at the hotel was impeccable and first class. People went well beyond their way to help us. I was so impressed with this hotel for a number of reasons. The location was ideal, perfectly nestled away from the busy streets of Rome but close enough to walk to any real site. The breakfast was great and the rooftop bar during sunsets was amazing. We booked a room with a balcony which was great to relax in and was a very good size. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Rome.

Absolutely perfect. Gorgeous hotel with stunning garden and bars and truly exceptional staff. The room was beautiful and spacious with wonderful light and furniture. The bar and dining staff were remarkably friendly and accommodating. The bar program was phenomenal with some truly exceptional cocktails. The front desk staff was warm and made amazing recommendations for dinner every night. We will return to Hotel Locarno for every trip to Rome.

Absolutely nothing to improve.

From the moment we checked in to when they waved us off in the taxi as we left, everyone working at the hotel was courteous, helpful and warm - we always felt welcomed and comfortable. The room was a great size and had everything you need. Ate in the hotel a few times and it was good food with good options, as well as a variety of locations where you could eat e.g.various places inside or out on the terrace. Great choice of breakfast dishes + Prosecco if you felt like it. Excellent coffee. I will definitely return!

There was nothing I didn’t like about our stay

Loved the décor - perfect mix of being authentic, classic and quietly luxurious. The courtyard to have coffee/drinks was gorgeous. Plus the free cocktail for each guest checking in was a lovely touch! The housekeeping was also fantastic. Just felt generally welcomed which is sometimes rare in busy tourist-heavy cities.

The drinks were a little expensive, we would have definitely stayed longer for drinks if they had been a slightly cheaper. But I know it’s indicative of the area we were in. Maybe some more veg options for breakfast! But overall I can’t think of anything negative about this hotel and we will definitely return.
