Marcella Royal Hotel - Rooftop Garden

Location was good and the Rooftop Bar/Restaurant was lovely.

On check in they took us to a room that someone was already staying in. Then to a tiny room but they couldn’t find the key for us, luckily we then ended up in a decent room. The waiter on duty at the Rooftop Restaurant in the evening did not have enough help. It was not his fault that the service was chaotic! However the food and drink were excellent when we got some. But the manager should definitely sort out that problem!!!

This was my fifth time staying here and wouldn’t consider staying elsewhere in Rome. The room was very comfortable and excellent daily cleaning. Several hotels I’ve stayed in over the past year or two provide housekeeping only every 2 or 3 days but we had it all 4 days of our stay. All staff were very friendly and helpful and excellent service. The rooftop garden is such a great feature and having breakfast there is a great way to start the day. A really good and varied choice of breakfast food, as much as you can eat!! After a day seeing the sights of Rome it was so relaxing to sit in the rooftop garden where Daler and his colleagues ensure you’re well looked after with a refreshment or two! All in all, a wonderful stay. I’ll be back😀

Beautiful hotel, great staff & a good location. The bathroom was gorgeous & we loved the rooftop bar. We would absolutely recommend & stay again but hope our little issue is resolved for future visits

The air con was difficult to work with to the point of being a little uncomfortable. It was capped at 18 degrees, but 18 degrees does not make for a comfortable night sleep. It’s really really warm and stuffy on the warmer nights, which made for some poor nights sleep. It did have a ‘powerful, setting which was more effective but didn’t last long. Much prefer some of the air con systems experienced in the likes of America where it’s possible to make the room ice (if wanted!)

My husband and I spent 2 days in Rome during our honeymoon. We are social creatures so I booked this hotel based on the fact they had a rooftop terrace and bar and were a little out of the busy area. This stay exceeded our expectations. Yes, the rooms were clean, but are a bit small / older - but we expected that ( you are out seeing the sights most of the time anyway)! The location itself is great, we felt very safe and it was a short 10-15 minute walk to all the attractions like the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. The rooftop terrace and garden won us over and is an excellent place to sunbathe, and have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Sunset views are great from here - we even watched a lightning storm one night in the distance! I have to shout out to Salvatore- our bartender. Not only did he provide us with excellent service and recommendations while we were there, but he also was kind enough to help me learn some Italian during our stay. He recommended us to his friend's restaurant (at Flavio Hotel) just 1 block from the hotel- where we were greeted and treated like family! The staff here was very kind and professional- and we would absolutely stay here again just based on the service. I suggest walking as much as you can to see the sights. The train station is within a 15-minute walking distance (5 min taxi) , or the front desk can call you a taxi (most arrived within 5 minutes). Highly recommend this place if you are staying a few nights, want to stay away from the busy streets, and love a good view of Rome and a glass of wine :D!

Nothing- we had a great stay and will be back!

The whole experience was fantastic from beginning to end, we arrived to a warm welcome, we had requested 2 rooms close to each other, we given given joining rooms which was perfect. The aircon was great, the bed was comfy and we even had a bath to soak our achy feet at the end of the day. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and set us up for the day.

We liked breakfast outside on the roof terrace however the wasps were in force so we ate inside - this is no-ones fault other than the wasps.

Beautiful hotel in a nice part of the city. Amazing room with balcony. Gorgeous roof top garden with lovely food. Best Carbonara I have ever had. However, best of all the staff were just wonderful. Made my girls feel very welcome, Alessandro on the desk when we arrived was great. Special mention for Salvatore who was just perfect. Thank you to everyone and we will be back.

Having to leave! Myself and my daughters just didn't want to leave Rome or the hotel. However the weather was very hot even by Italian standards. Beautifil city, smashing people.

We booked this hotel purely for its location which was close to the train station and the theatre, and it was an excellent decision. The room was perfect, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was the hottest with the best water pressure I had during my entire stay in Italy. The reception staff were always very helpful with a great restaurant suggestion and answering all the other questions we had. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great service. Great staff, very responsive to needs. They made an effort to remember guests too, which was above and beyond. Generally most things were really great.

The rooftop bar is very pricey at least for the drink I got - when it's more expensive than Ireland, you know it's overpriced. And they don't tell you the prices up front. I had one drink one night, and was turned off visiting the roof at night after that.

We loved the location of the hotel. It was about 1 mile from Trevor Fountain and we were happy to be away from the crowds. There are wonderful restaurants and cafes nearby. The room was clean and the AC was lovely after hot days site seeing. The rooftop restaurant had delicious food and provided a great view of the city!

The hallways and elevator were a bit warm, but that’s it!

The hotel has very friendly staff, the rooftop garden was lovely for breakfast and evening drinks. Lovely spot to relax and take in the day. Breakfast has a great range fruit, muesli, yoghurt, fresh bread and pasties as well as cooked items. Great restaurant across the road, which is good at the end of a long days walking.
