This is NOT a complaint, I just note that we had a room on the top floor, and there was no elevator. Of course this is expected given the age of the building, but if you have difficulties walking in stairs you should take this into account and request a room at a lower floor. The shower cabin was also the smallest I have ever seen, if you dropped the soap you had to let it be :-)

The hotel is truly excellent. I cannot realistically imagine a better hotel for a similar price in Venice. The people at the reception were very respectful and polite. The room was bigger than I had expected. The private bathroom was also larger than I had expected. All the facilities and amenities you may need during a trip were there, even an electric teakettle and an electric device against mosquitoes! Moreover, even though I stayed there for only 2 nights, the room was cleaned, the bedding and the towels were changed and a new set of toiletries was provided. The room was actually better than described on the booking.com website. The breakfast was plentiful and served in a beautiful room. The hotel is strategically located right in the center of Venezia. Indeed, just a short walk from the Piazza San Marco. Do visit it, of course, but do not bother to go inside the basilica as it is very dark and dull inside. Your time would be much better spent if, of an evening, you walked from the hotel to the Ponte dell'Accademia and then on to the tip of Dorsoduro, from which you would have an unrivaled view of the San Marco Campanile and the Palazzo Ducale as well as of the magnificent church of San Giorgio Maggiore. Then walk along the Zattere emankment along the Canale della Giudecca at least as far as San Trovaso, but ideally all the way to Angelo Raffaele and then back to the Ponte dell'Accademia and the hotel along the Fondamenta Briati and via the spacious Campo Santa Margherita, across the Ponte dei Pugni and Campo San Barnaba. Another day, walk north of the hotel to the amazing church of Santi Giovanni and Paolo and on to the Fondamente Nova as far as the great Baroque church of Gesuati. After visiting the church, rest in the very pleasant courtyard with orange trees and very comfy sofas in the courtyard next to the church and walk on to the church of Madonna dell'Orto, admire Tintoretto's paintings there and return to the hotel via Ca'...

Well, not much of a view from the window in the room, but it is not a big deal!

Centauro hotel was a great location. A very quick walk from Rialto water taxi for easy access to and from the airport. Location was excellent and close to attractions. They had a good breakfast with many selections. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and well decorated and had AC. This hotel was a former castle.

If you have a hard time climbing up and down stairs, it would be difficult to stay here. We were on the 3rd floor and the stars were steep and uneven, which is expected for a hotel that has been around since the 1500s. Just something to be aware of if you have bad knees.

I am a 90-year-old man traveling alone. They were very helpful with my baggage. Even though my train was not leaving for another 10 hours after checkout, they not only kept my baggage safe for me until I return many hours later to pick it up, they also were kind enough to keep my insulin and their refrigerator and even allowed me to freeze the cold packs in their refrigerator. Most importantly, they did it with good humor and without any suggestion that I was imposing. They were genuinely wanting me to be comfortable. By the way, the breakfast was excellent. It had great variety of good quality food in all the quantity anyone wanted. The woman in charge of the kitchen was particularly accommodating when she allowed my insulin to be stored in her refrigerator.

The hotel is in campo manin area and near for walking distance from rialto bridge, st marks square and to go to station is easy via vaporreto. The stop area is rialto A or B. The staff is helpful and friendly, they provides information regarding all visits place in venice. The breakfast included was nice. The room is small but clean and comfortable. For muslim there is so Mediterranean restaurant just beside the hotel. Halal food to eat.

The air conditioner is not continuously running. I think it is set with time mode. But since I’m just 2 nights then it’s fine with me.

On the ferry to the island I was reading some reviews on this hotel and on arrival I was wondering why all the comments about the lack of lift (elevator if one is not speaking the queens English)? Alas this lack of lift is also in the description the hotel provided and putting one in would butcher a beautiful building. One is presented with a hotel which is a stunning period building with high ceilings, nice period decor and a easy to climb stair case. One is truly transported into the old Venice away from the tourist nightmare that fills certain landmarks. The front desk staff extremely nice and the breakfast spot on. The local area is great with a mini supermarket, lots of decent restaurants and a nice little square.

The sound insulation is not great and this lowered my comfort score. I own a period property and this is not something easily solved! As anywhere in Venice it feels like one is paying a lot for what one gets however I suspect this place does represent a good value for money.

I loved our stay at Hotel Centauro. I was nervous as the room was only 11m2, but it was honestly fine and fit our two huge suitcases and respective carry-ons. The bathroom was really modern, the shower was great -- and the breakfast was fabulous. (When you do have breakfast, pop over to the window and look out. It's such a beautiful view.) The hotel is also centrally located -- close to St Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge so everything is walkable. Would stay again.

There is no elevator so you have to cart your luggage up the stairs. Don't worry, the staff do help!

The room is very comfortable, clean and with great facilities such as the coffee area There is an elevator option to bring the lugage which is great The staff is AMAZING! The Lady at the front desk was so helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable - so much more than what you usually see. Location is so good that you do not need more than 2 feets and if needed bus stop 2 minutes walk Breakfast is so good, fresh, with great service that keeps giving you special coffee, omlettes and more Overall this is definitely THE place to go!

The location for a start is fantastic. It's a short easy walk from Rialto Bridge and the water bus stop. Nothing was too much effort regarding location. The room was very small but not a deal breaker. Perfect for a long weekend stay. Let's face it if you're exploring Venice you aren't going to spent all your time in a hotel! Private bathroom etc. It was clean comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.

A lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room. A minimum requirement. Not an inconvenience, however.

The location was awesome, and the staff was friendly. The gentleman, I believe he was the owner, helped me to find the part of Venice that I was looking to experience. Location is GREAT! You are in the center of the action, yet in the cut far enough to enjoy a peaceful night's stay. The breakfast was good and the attendant was very nice. A true hidden gem. I recommend this property to couples, solo travels, or anyone looking for a vintage vibe with a great staff
