XTILU Hotel - Adults only -

The cleanliness, the warm staff, the BREAKFAST, the facilities, I was stunned. As a solo traveler I never felt alone, hungry or unsafe as this hotel satisfied me with a delicious breakfast, friendly staff who checked up on me when I did not return to the hotel overnight and always gave me reccomendations as well as helped me practice spanish, so attentive and personable, ALL of them. The room was my oasis, the main entrance and attached restaurant made me feel like anxiety was a foreign concept. I never felt more relaxed and am sure I will be back every year to this same hotel, I have no need to explore other facilities at this point, this hotel definitelty elevated my overall AMAZING experience of Oaxaca as a solo traveler.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, exceptional breakfast. The breakfast was had some of the best mole negro we ate on the entire trip, and the coffee was top notch, even for coffee snobs with our own espresso machine at home. The staff were helpful booking taxis for us, but it was an easy walk to most of the city.

Staff were not able to provide a replacement box of Kleenex in the room, which seems like a basic thing to keep in stock. Air Conditioning struggled to keep the room a cool enough temperature for sleeping (felt like it achieved maybe 74 F despite being set to 63 F). Only provided a small (guess 0.5 L) bottle of drinking water per day. I had been looking forward to trying Chemex coffee, but they didn't have filters to make that coffee for our whole 5 night stay. Another basic thing to keep in stock when they specifically advertise Chemex coffee.

We stayed here for 5 nights and could not be happier with our choice of the Xtilu Hotel. The included breakfast was served from 8-12 each day prepared by the brilliant and personable Chef Eduardo who offered a seasonal a la carte menu of artfully prepared Oaxacan fusion cuisine choices that belonged in a Michelin star restaurant. All the staff of the hotel aimed to please and were available at the front desk at all times ready to assist with anything we needed including hiring a superb private driver (Philomon) to visit Mitla and the Yagul Valley. The property has a very private, upscale, open-air hacienda feel where the calming sound of the stunning ancient fountain in the courtyard instantly replaces the street noise as soon as the front door closes.. A/C is quiet and perfect; shower was hot and strong; room was sparkling clean; bed super comfortable with crisp linens and optional comforter. We made a point to visit four of the other highest rated hotels in town during our walks and found them noisy and crowded feeling by comparison. We loved coming "home" to the Xtilu each day!

We would stay at Xtilu again in a heartbeat. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we slept so well after walking miles every day. The breakfast was something we couldn't wait for each day and every dish was not only a work of art, but incredibly tasty as well. Most of all, though, we appreciated the staff and how each and every person treated us like it was their pleasure to have us as visitors. We really felt welcomed and cared for. An excellent stay

The staff was extremely helpful in making suggestions of paces to visit, they also arranged transportation , tours etc. At the best rates . Would definitely highly recommend this place if you want to explore Oaxaca.

I looked at about a dozen properties in Oaxaca before choosing this hotel. Location was the main factor, however, an in-house breakfast was a draw. I was extremely disappointed by the breakfast for a couple reasons. Free coffee refills should be offered for breakfast which were not in some instances. Additionally, I just want a more normal breakfast with no surprises. The breakfast was more about design, fancy, unusual concoctions, and Luke warm food, rather than hot, appealing food. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment at this hotel and would prevent me from returning to an otherwise nice hotel.

I completely disliked the breakfast which was served without coffee refills and with cold or Luke warm food. Just serve a basic, hot breakfast and most people will be happy.

The combination of the breakfast, the staff serving it, and eating in an enclosed courtyard with trees, potted plants, and the intimacy of the setting makes me want to have breakfast there everyday, instead of looking for breakfast spots. Walking to breakfast within the hotel and eating outside was special. We were in a location where any desirable location in Oaxaca could be walked to. The neighborhood itself is in a safe, wonderful location.

I feel reviews are so imp as I read everyone’s reviews and make decisions on that so will try be as real as possible :) Well I want to write so much but will try keeping it short :) booked it through booking .com was skeptical as it said it’s a 3 star property so was nervous as what to expect but as the reviews on location was good so took a chance . I must say I am glad I made the choice the hotel was beautiful ,clean and very cute and boutique type .i felt I was at home when you enter there’s a beautiful courtyard Hope the owners convert it and make it pretty so we can eat breakfast there .it’s a beautiful hotel week kept and very quite you don’t feel you are staying in a busy neighborhoods it’s a peaceful oasis . The rooms are nice very basic and little old style . We stayed on ground floor 106 and the window opened up to this beautiful tree in courtyard my major complain is entrance to bathroom and since of bathroom is small am not sure how a beautiful wide person can maneuver that’s is one thing I would make changes to .the water pressure was amazing ! The hotel serves only breakfast after that ther is no service no food or anything . If they do a little small coffe cafe that would be great also I love how this owned by a indigenous family and keeping it all local flavor location is great and the staff in literal sense is one person :) very helpful and nice . Hope you guys enjoy this review it’s from my heart and I loved this place 🥰 can’t give 5 starts as no other amenities will be back in near future One more things the staff at breakfast were not friendly and not very helpful they need to smile and show they are happy working there even if they are not ! I-have to thank JERRY at front desk was a amazing and super helpful guy connect with him he is good ! The staff at breakfast were not at all friendly as this pace has very few staff it’s kinda difficult at breakfast caus you one person I think in kitchen and one outside how I think did it like his job as he was not at all friendly ! Also once breakfast is served kitchen is closed so if you want maybe a coffee you have to go out of hotel ! Also the room I stayed in the shower was amazing but the bathroom was too small to manoevr!

Hotel is small and tranquil, with tasteful decor. Love all of the plants and lounge chairs in the courtyard. No street noise at all. Staff was super friendly and security guard sits by door to let you in throughout the night. Free breakfast was wonderful, the little cafe there has great food and coffee. Beds were comfortable.

Our AC didn't really work and the room was very warm and humid. There were no screens on the windows, so if we left windows open to let the air in, mosquitos would get in and become a problem. We asked for a fan for our room but they didn't have one. There is also no closet, just a small rack with about 8 hangers. It was fine since we didn't hang much stuff, but if you're someone who likes to hang up your clothes there wasn't much room for that.

I was assisted, above and beyond, by the staff at Xtilu. They assisted me in rectifying a mistake I had made with my passport and helped me communicate with the previous place I had stayed, translate my mediocre Spanish, and planned the logistics of how to get my passport back. I am beyond grateful for their kindness, honesty, assistance, humane consideration, and generosity. I would recommend this hotel and its staff to anyone, and will stay here whenever I am in Oaxaca. Superlative. Additionally: the food was delicious, the recommendations (and reservations made on my behalf) on local restaurants and sightseeing were entirely on point, and the hotel itself is utterly gorgeous. I made particular use of the courtyard and the library while working remotely and found them beautiful, quiet places to work remotely.
