NaNa Vida Hotel Oaxaca

This is one of the best hotels i stayed in on my travels thus far and i was sad i could only stay a few nights because the hotel was fully booked - so book in advance, it is worth it. The staff were excellent, the care and attention shown made it feel like a home away from home (especially as a solo traveller). In particular Ali and Christian were great to talk to and super helpful, including providing amazing places to eat at that were easy walking distance. Receiving a slab of handmade soap on arrival as a gift and a gift on departure, made this a truely special and memorable experience. The room was spacious and although it was near the kitchen and a bit noisy, the airplugs provided resolved this potential issue. The surrounding courtyard was a great place to have breakfast and being served in a timely manner made the experience so pleasant. Hotel is easy walking distance from all key sites and restaurants. And even though its centrally located, it is peaceful and having someone on reception all the time was nice. I would highly recommend this place and hope to return one day for another stay. This is now my benchmark for what good looks like in terms of great hotel stays.

Everything was great. There is nothing i can suggest for improvements, the staff thought of everything.

The friendly staff at Nana Vida went above and beyond to ensure our visit was comfortable and memorable. They were welcoming, knowledgeable, and wonderful to talk to about all things Oaxaca. The team helped us to arrange transportation and tours, provided breakfast, and kept our lovely room clean -- we can't say enough good things about them. The courtyard is a beautiful and secluded oasis to take a break after wandering the city -- ask for a beer or mezcal from the hotel's cantina, grab a book, and enjoy the bird songs and funky artwork. It's also a good spot to catch up with other travelers over a delicious breakfast. Finally, the hotel's location can't be beat. It's only blocks to markets, the historical center, museums, restaurants, bars, and more. We very much recommend staying at Nana Vida!

Property was absolutely beautiful! 14 rooms across 2 floors, beautiful hallway leading into the open-air courtyard is adorned with fantastic art. The whole property feels quaint, private, impeccably clean, with everything so carefully maintained. You would never know the this jewel exists when walking down the street.

N/A, wonderful stay. If staying in a corner room it is helpful to know the acoustics will carry some sound. The hotel kindly provided earplugs for convenience, though we never needed to use them.

Really friendly and helpful staff, lovely courtyard, huge bed, great location not bang in the centre so a bit quieter but close enough.

Unfortunately the room was very dark - as we were on the ground floor the only windows face out onto the courtyard and so we couldn’t have them open without losing all privacy. There isn’t really anywhere to chill in the courtyard, just hard dining chairs. It would be great if there were some comfortable seats to sit on and I think people would love to hang there if they can’t in their rooms.

Absolutely outstanding!! Cannot recommend NaNaVida highly enough. The property is set around a courtyard and due to their links to artists so well decorated with paintings etc. The bedroom was spacious and decorated with artistic works which was very pleasing. The bed (huge!) was very comfortable. Well located for Oaxaca centre sights. Lovely breakfast too but the most amazing thing about this place is the staff - they are so lovely and welcoming. Every member of staff went out of their way to be kind and helpful. Such a great experience staying here from the lovely welcome (gifts given at check in and check out!) to the free bottled water (still and sparkling) offered when you go out and come in, they really go above and beyond. They do not have on site parking but will direct you to a nearby parking garage, however after our first night we found free on street parking spaces which was convenient. We really didn't want to leave!

Beautiful structure, love the 100% Mexican atmosphere. The food is amazing with a very good traditional taste. The staff is really friendly, thanks to Evelyn for all her caring and advices, They even cook a special request for last day before check out. Location is really good, really near all the places of interest, but far enough to enjoy the quietness of the hotel in general. We will for sure recommend this hotel and we hope to go back as soon as possible... "NaNaVida" to be able to stayed there!

To improve wifi, but on the other hand sometimes is good to be off the internet...

My husband and I were on our honeymoon. Nana Vida was actually a very last minute booking. We did not have any expectations, because we needed a place to stay ASAP. Nana Vida was exactly what we had needed in a hotel. The location is walking distance from the center of town, all of the best markets, and located in a safe, friendly, quiet area. The staff at Nana Vida were extremely welcoming, accommodating, attentive, and all around just kind. The atmosphere, hospitality, decorations, everything about Nana Vida was perfect.

I would not change a single thing.

NaNa Vida is a wonderful boutique hotel in the middle of central Oaxaca, within easy walking distance to anywhere you'd want to go. The rooms are a bit small, but with modern, comfortable furnishings and each one decorated with unique artwork from local artisans. The interior courtyard is a lovely little oasis for hanging out and eating breakfast. But what really sets NaNa Vida apart is their hospitality, from the very moment to enter to the final moment you leave. Gifts are offered upon arrival and departure. Water bottles are offered as you are walking out for excursions, and refreshments (including mezcal) offered upon return. The staff are always read to help out in any request. I could go on - it was really amazing. I will definitely stay at NaNa Vida again the next time I visit Oaxaca.

I'd have to nitpick here. I think it would have been nice to have patio chair outside my room. The sitting area in the lobby was certainly nice, but it was on the main route of traffic. It would have been nice to have a place to hang out that was a bit more private, and the abundant patios could have provided it.

Only a few minutes' walk from the hubbub of Oaxaca, Nanavida was a spacious hotel which was perfect for our stay. The rooms are set around a courtyard, we had one of the top corner ones which was nice and quiet. The room was nice and simple, there's aircon and earplugs, as well as - rather randomly - a noise machine. The breakfast is a continental option each morning. The staff were the real highlight, we were offered fresh water, cokes, mezcal, whenever we walked through the reception, showered with gifts on arrival and leaving and they were incredibly helpful when it came to booking tours. A great midrange hotel.

The only thing I can think of is I could hear next door brushing their teeth in their bathroom one evening but I didn't notice it at any other point

If you consider booking this hotel, book it! Our stay at NaNa Vida was perfect. First of all the location is excellent, walking distance from everywhere. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms were not only clean but also spacious,well decorated, modern and the airco worked perfectly. The beds were very comfortable. Nice simple breakfast, nothing special but good quality. What comes to the personnel and the service is that it was outstanding and probably the best we have ever gotten. Everyone was warm and welcoming. We received welcome gifts and parting gifts. They were incredibly thoughtful, offering us drinks every day to take with us (water, cola, ice tea, etc.) and making sure everything was fine with us. We had to wait for our bus to leave at the hotel until late in the evening and even then they took perfectly care of us.
