Mayan Monkey Tulum

The hostel was actually quite good, the amenities were clean and the beds comfortable and the hostel was aesthetically pleasing as well, very nice architecture and good looking, so was the common room and the outside bar with a very nice pool. The staff was also very nice and very good people, thinking about bryan for example, good guy. The others were also very helpful

The location was not the best But what really was avoidable was the music they played. No guest i was with liked the technomusic, the times they played throwback songs or reggaeton / salsa it was way better and everyone was dancing. Also the music was waaaay too loud where it was not possible to have a conversation.

The hostel is beautiful and looks more like a boutique hotel, the beds are very comfortable and everyone has their own space thanks to curtains and shelves inside the bed. They offer activities, like Yoga classes which are nice. They offer breakfast for 100 MXN which includes a buffet as well as a chosen dish like Chilaquiles, Pancakes or Quesadillas. So I think it's a really good deal.

They play very loud music every afternoon and evening in the bar/ pool area, so it's impossible to have a conversation there. The kitchen doesn't have enough cooking utensils for the amount of people that stay in the hostel. I stayed in their location in Cabo and I loved everything, but this hostel is just too big and the activities they offer don't always take place. The location is a bit far from the centre as well as from the beach.

The best way a hostel should represent themselves, amazing staff (except one), spacious rooms & separate showers..big pool & great hostel activities 🔝 The reception staff & the Argentinian girls who prepared the breakfast were amazing. Thank you

I didn't like the attitude of one particular bar man (he is mexican but looks like Filipino). He doesn't speak English but his body language possesses a very negative & aggressive display. 70% of communication is body language. I personally do not binge drink..I ordered two pints of beers. One was full whilst the other was 3/4 to full. I told him to top the 3/4 up however with an aggressive approach he refused to do so. Later another friend had a misunderstanding because of the happy hour. Again we didn't like his approach. He is there to serve the customers & not have this negative approach because it damages the whole positive aspect of the hostel to make the guests have a pleasant stay.

nice facilities, pool was lovely and always clean, sunloungers etc were great! beds were comfy (great pillows) and had good amounts of privacy. showers in our room were a little run down and a bit smelly but otherwise hot & okay. the hostel is in between the beach and town and had a few really nice restaurants close by so you’ve got everything you need! breakfast is also good and worth it for £4 a day :)

they make you pay an environmental fee when you arrive which isn’t stated in the booking despite booking.com claiming all taxes etc were included. staff were quite unhelpful, took forever to do anything and never apologised for the wait, you literally had to demand things in order to be taken any notice of, if they improved this this hostel would be really hard to fault!

Wow!! Where to start… an incredible hostel that looks a 4 stars hotel. Amazing common area, fantastic bed, commodity and privacy. Perfect and clean bathroom. I loved to do yoga, the amazing common area, working space and the breakfast was fantastic. Unfortunately I just discovered the last day that I could have not just the fantastic fruit, bread, cereal, yogurt, milk , vegan milk, tea, agua Jamaica but I could have asked for more at the bar also a vegan complementary hot dishes.

There is a lovely kitchen that despite the many people is always clean. There is a great space and two big fridge that unfortunately we’re very full. I know they just bought the second one but I think a third one seems necessary, because the hostel is huge.

Mayan Monkey was exceptional in so many ways as well as being a great value for money. Very clean and designed thoughtfully and aesthetically. Great location between main road and beach. Check-in was easy and staff helpful. Dorm room had an excellent ensuite bathroom/showers. A/c not too cold. Had the perfect dorm pod with lamp and power socket. Bed was super comfy and clean. Common area in the middle had amazing couches and pillows and yoga in the morning. A full calendar of activities if you so desired. Bar/poolside area thoughtfully designed with plenty of lounging/seating. They had great DJ's every evening and even beer pong one night. Was nice that the hostel was casual enough that I was allowed to have some friends staying at other places come by to hang out with me in the bar area, but still maintaining security by having the dorms/rooms closed off to outsiders. Great little laundry service as well. Very nice self-serve continental breakfast included as well as paid a reasonable amount extra for a la carte breakfast.

Difficult to think of anything at all at this amazing hostel although the kitchen looked on the smaller side for such a large hostel but didn't seem to be an issue for anyone and I wasn't cooking anyway.

The place was great, clean and modern. It was my first time trying a hostal so quite happy I got such a nice one. However the bar staff is all great, very friendly and make great drinks & food

The reception staff however was not too helpful, when I wanted to extend my stay they would pretend the place is fully booked when it was not. (I was able to book online when they would tell me I can't book anymore direct) Same thing happened to friends. I also ended up in rooms with staff from the reception which was not great but I guess that is not on them. Bar servings were a bit slow

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in loads. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially security who seemed to have a had in helping with everything. Gorgeous pool area and hang out area. The Co-Working space was fab, with air conditioning! Pre-paying for breakfast on arrival is an awesome deal and the quality of breakfast is great. Dorms were awesome, comfy beds with privacy curtains and massive lockers with plug sockets inside you to you charge your tech while out. The pool is just as great as it looks on the pics. Free activities like cocktail making, Salsa class, yoga, are all brilliant. It I made loads of great friends there. It really seems to attract a great crowd of people. It can be whatever you want, if people want a bit of a party they can, but if you want to chill you can do that too. Neither seems to effect the other.

I was fine with the location, I rented a bicycle from the operator outside (cheaper that the hostel) and use that to get to DownTown and the beaches. Some people might consider it to be far out as it's not located in the middle of either area, but I was happy with the location. As to be expected I guess, the food served at the bar was a bit on the expensive side, and the Nachos were terrible. So bland. I've had better in the UK.

The Mayan Monkey in Tulum is phenomenal! I cannot say enough good things -- the staff were amazing and got to know me by name even. I stayed there 2 weeks, and it was clean, professional, comfortable, and seriously one of the best experiences I've ever had at a hostel. No matter what I needed, the staff was there for me. This place also looks like a resort! The large steps, the decor, the swim up bar -- seriously felt like a resort style place. The music was great in the evenings, and they stopped it at midnight. The rooms were quiet, the breakfast was AMAZING. And I had even lost something, and they located it for me in the lost-and-found. This place is literally the best and you won't be disappointed.

The staff were friendly. The room was excellent. It was more inclusive for the younger people - which was why I booked it. My daughter had a great time and made great friends.

We rented bikes and mine really should not have been made available. The handlebars were off center. The front tire wobbled. The chain was so dry it was difficult to move it. The pedal cranks also needed oil and were so dry that they stuck in one position until you jumped your weight onto it. The seat kept turning sideways. My husband does bike mechanics in his spare time and we’re avid cyclists. I knew not to expect what we have since they’re tourist bikes but holy I wasn’t expecting that.
