It was in a great location central to everything, and nicely tucked out the way too. The reason for my trip was to do Kambo and Bufo and ceremonies were performed with love and care. I felt very safe, and in particular would like to thank Mario Lynne Esteban, who were the facilitators for these ceremonies. Anyone considering doing any of the above would be in the safest of hands. Big statement, but I will be eternally grateful guidance in facilitating my journey to abundant happiness. I also met some fantastic people who were there for a multitude of reasons and we came together as one to share an experience which only we can understand. Peace and love. Some crazy guy called Tahoe who kinda was meant to work there, but didn’t work there, but kept turning up and making everybody feel uncomfortable, but finally he disappeared in the back of a police truck, but other than that everything was cool.

I booked this place for a reason, I was hoping they would offer special ceremony food in their restaurant since they do ceremonies but they don’t, bit disappointing. also it would be good if people who don’t know that this isn’t a “normal” hotel would be informed beforehand because it’s not pleasant for “normal” guests to hear people throwing up or screaming and they don’t know what’s going on. not everyone knows what Bufo is.

The property is very unique. It is a calm place where you can really enjoy in peace (well, during the day). The room was nice, wifi was working perfectly.

We didn't like 2 things. First one is the noise during the night- apparently, there are a lot of dogs and cats living around there and their barking through whole night isn't pleasant at all. The second thing we didn't really like was the kitchen, since it wasn't really clean. There are also a lot of mosquitos which are unbearable if you want to have a drink on the terrace.

Great location basically between the Zona Hotelera (Beach) and the Main Street. Make sure to rent a bicycle since taxi drivers will most likely overcharge you. The overall vibe of the property is super laid back and definitely fits the entire Tulúm vibe. Rooms are small, yet, cozy and nicely decorated. The pool area is also super beautiful and it has an outdoor gym and yoga area.

Well yes, it is true. The music from the two restaurants/bars down the street is pretty loud until late at night. Naturally, this gets the street dogs riled up as well… On the flip side, we never heard any screaming or vomiting from Bufo ceremonies 😅

Bufo Alvarius was my favorite hotel to stay at (thus far in life). The rooms, pool and facilities were gorgeous. The vibe was relaxed and the staff welcoming. We could easily Bike everywhere from its location, which is placed perfectly between Tulum Town and the hotel strip. The other hotel guests were also very respectful and easygoing. We spent days lounging in the pool after exploring town.

If you're worried about high prices in tulum, the attached restaurant had grateful deals and we had breakfast there everyday.

The energy of this place is incredible - true serenity among the hustle of city life. Bufo Alvarius' staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating, and create a safe and inviting space for travelers to enjoy their time within it's walls, as well as within the city. Situated between the beach area and the town center, the location is perfect for anyone looking for a mix of things to do within short distances. With a great cafe on site, and wonderful restaurants next door, one doesn't have to go too far to get a great meal. And for those who like to feel at home while traveling, the shared kitchen space with a full size refrigerator, makes it easy for anyone who wants to cook their own meals. The pool is absolutely beautiful and perfect for a dip anytime of day, as it is shaded by trees to keep cool during the heat of the afternoon, and elegantly lit at night for a refreshing way to end a day of exploring. One may find that they never want to leave, but I humbly ask that you do so there will be space for me to return!

The place is a little paradise, even better than it looks in the pictures. The staff is very friendly. The rooms and the whole setting have the feeling of camping, so be ready for a really small space. Personally I liked that. It is located between the city center and the zona hotelera, car is a plus

The wifi did not work in the rooms, only garden. Some towels and bedshit was stained. Very hard to set the temperature in the bathtub.

This place is a true oasis in the heart of Tulum. Beautiful ambiance, tranquil environment and a very welcoming community of interesting and kind individuals. We had a life-changing experience trying Bufo Alvarius and learned a great deal about a variety of traditional plant medicines from the staff and other guests. We initially booked for 3 days and stayed for 2 weeks because we felt so at home; the rooms are cozy and comfy, the pool is fresh and clean, and the staff were not only very helpful but also really fun to hang out with. We left having made many lovely friends. Looking forward to staying again the next time we pass through Tulum. Come for the Bufo, stay for the community.

booked 2 nights and after the first extended 2 more days my stay, think that tells a lot. Beautiful common areas, small outdoor gym, swimming pool, kitchen, tipies for ceremonies and meditation, sauna and a new flotation tank and all in the premises. shady with plenty of trees to hide from the sun. location is great! you can make it to the centre on Tulum walking 10 min or cycle to the beach is a short distance. big chedrai supermarket 5 min walk which is a plus, ATM inside and plenty ready made meals if you don’t want to cook or eat out. plenty restaurants and bars, tour desks and bike rental at the door. Staff is very friendly. strong recommend this place thanks 🙏

This is more than a hotel, and more than a sanctuary. It is an oasis. The staff are a close-knit unit, like a family, and one can tell immediately that this is where they want to be. I enjoyed 3 weeks here, and loved every moment. The location is great, being off the “main drag” but close enough to walk easily. The pool is a god-send on hot sticky Mexican days. The sauna and flotation pod are still under construction/repairs but I enjoyed the sauna a couple of times, and it truly is a project of love. If you want to stay here, I recommend you familiarise yourself with the medicine that others may be working with while they are staying here. The occasional loud scream or cry may be heard and if you don’t know why, you might feel uneasy. I personally came here to work with the medicine and can say it is a deeply transcendent experience, but not an easy one. Those who go through this journey often need peace, quiet and space in the following days, so this certainly is not a party hotel.
