Layla Tulum - Adults Only

The location was great because it is right in the centre. This means that it is close to nice restaurants and the bus station. The pool area upstairs is really nice. The breakfast was simple but really good! Room with cute little balcony was also really nice.

Firstly the front office staff. They are passive agressive, really not approachable so really not welcoming or helpful. It just seems like you’re bothering them all the time. Our room didn’t get cleaned and instead of apologizing they told us it was our fault cause we didn’t put the “clean my room” sign which we didn’t even get/was not in our room 😅 so when we told them they dismissed us and just said “yes it is”. This is only the 2 young girls and guy at the reception. The older Italian lady is lovely and was so helpful! All the other staff were also great! Another thing was the shower, it fluctuated between warm and cold all the time.

The room was truly incredible, bed was so comfortable and bathroom was very big and different/cool. Two pool options was great, I used the downstairs one as soon as I got there, as my room was right across from it, but never saw anyone else use it my entire stay. One of the front desk staff knew me by name and she was so friendly. They were able to schedule a next day covid test for me and the nurse came right into my room and did it quickly-so convenient, and I had the results in my email a few hours later. My last night there, I met a few other solo travelers my age and we had a few drinks and chatted while it lightly rained and the sky constantly lit up with lightening, it was an incredible memory I will never forget. So glad there was also a nice sized little fridge in the room.

They stressed they were eco-friendly but offered plastic water bottles in the room and said there was no limit on them. Why not ditch them and use refillable glass containers maybe brought to the room each day? The very loud music gets old quick, it wouldn’t be so bad if they brought the volume down some. Walls are very thin and I could hear ringing phones, a rocking chair, and hammering/chiseling on the residential side of my room-where people are living.

The entire stay was exceptional. From the amazing hosts at the front desk, the bar/restaurant staff, to the house cleaning crew, everyone was great. The food is superb, even with excellent & fun vegan options. There’s unlimited bottled water upon request, and the room service is seamless. Service is swift & always with a smile. The boutique nature of the hotel means there’s plenty of space to enjoy the rooftop infinity pool & even the downstairs lobby pool underneath the gorgeous “Layla” art piece. The location is phenomenal too. Just a few minutes walking distance from the main road in Centro (Ave Tulum), anything you could want as far as food, shopping, drinks, grocery stores, banks/atms for currency exchange, & even CrossFit gyms are located close by. If you want to go to the beach or the more popular clubs, you’ll likely want to take a taxi. Even then, it’s only a 5-10 minute drive.

Honestly, it just would’ve been nice to have a fridge in the room. Still, we grabbed a foam cooler from a corner store & loaded up with some ice each night. We got by just fine.

The room and communal areas were as beautiful in real life as they appear on photos and Instagram. The staff were so attentive and helpful from the second we arrived. We saw Elena and Bryan mostly who were really friendly, but everyone we encountered in reception was lovely. They helped with taxis, general recommendations, trip advice. Always friendly and interested in where we’d been that day and what we’d been up to. The staff in the bar on the roof were also great. Attentive but perfect in not asking you if you’re ok too much either. The food was great. I wouldn’t normally have breakfast at the hotel but it was an easy option one day and is probably the best breakfast we’ve had so far in Mexico. You also have to try the appetisers! They were incredible. Definitely worth a meal there. Saw some previous reviews saying music was loud but we found it to be perfect on the roof and absolutely nothing disturbed us from our room. Water in the room each day was a nice touch. Housekeeping is spot on. I would recommend this to anyone after a central stay in Tulum!

The best hotel I have ever stayed in! It’s like staying in a tropical paradise in Central Tulum. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size that are cleaned every day, your own balcony and a comfy double bed. The hotel has a rooftop pool with views over the city. There is a bar on the roof as well for delicious cocktails, beers and food. Hotel is right in the centre of Tulum centro, everything is walking distance including all the bars, shops and restaurants. The beach is about 15 minutes away in a taxi. The hotel can arrange this for you. You will love staying here, can not recommend highly enough.

Hotel, rooms and pools look great. Location is in walking distance to many bars and restaurants. Breakfast can be enjoyed at retstaurant, rooftop or in the room without any extra charge.

Hotel is powered by a generator that runs 24/7 and makes a lot of noise and you can hear it everywhere (even the room). Prices in the hotel bar and restaurant are very pricy (even for european standards). During our stay we broke a small driniking glass which we later got charged to our room for 225 Pesos (approx. 13€)! Only after complaining about the noise and the price of the glass they canceled the charge

Very cute and boutique style hotel! Never knew what I was in for until I opened the door to greatness!!! Beautiful rooms with unique designs and the showers 🚿 😳 absolutely gorgeous! I was able to check out all the rooms, with the help of Luis! Always pleasant and helpful without hesitation! The rooftop is a statement!! You will not be disappointed!! Just lovely!

There were dogs barking throughout the night, not their fault, just people across the street.

Layla Tulum is at great, central, walkable, vibrant and safe location! It is blocks away from the main city thorughfare and easy to get around. People are out and about and anyone traveling alone or for their first time in Tulum will feel safe.

Rooftop service could have been better. The servers were not attentive and did not come to ask for a second round or if I needed anything else. The menu could be better, given you're in a very luscious part of Mexico.

The price for things like room service and laundry were akin to those in a boutique hotel in the US; which given its in Mexico seems a little outrageous. For example it’s was $22 usd to launder 5 pieces of clothing (2 shirts and the rest underwear), I could have walked one block down and had a local service do it for $3 usd. Also the pool is unavailable before 9am and after 10pm which seems a little constrained.

I booked Layla because it had great reviews and was at a good price point. Well, it exceeded my expectations! The room was clean, the hotel smelled like a spa, the front desk was always friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The pool was beautiful and well maintained. Our rooms were cleaned every day. Really, no complaints here. It was also in a prime location, next to well known bars and restaurants. Felt safe in the surrounding area. We had a rental car for one day and parking was easy to find and free. We would highly recommend staying here for your trip to Tulum!

The shower knobs were difficult to work, could never get the proper shower head to work (we always showered with both shower heads and lower pressure), but very minor issue. Did not affect our opinion of the place. Im sure if we asked the staff, they would have helped us figure it out, but we never bothered to.
