Ciao Papa Hotel Amsterdam Central Station

The location of this hotel is one of the best for me. I have stayed in Amsterdam countless times and this is going to be the new standard of location for all my future stays. Check-in went quite well. Though I was a bit early, the gentleman at check in was more than helpful in affording me early check-in. He was quite pleasant; I did not take his name, but he seemed to be of Indian/Pakistani heritage. His customer service was awesome. I wish I had gotten his name, but I didn't.

This is more of an observation than a dislike. An elevator would have been nice, and because the stairs are quite steep and narrow, it is a tricky maneuver to carry large/heavy luggages upstairs. Considering the design of the hotel, I am not sure how an elevator would be installed. If you are a light traveler, this is definitely for you or if you are a traveler who can easily manage your luggage up and down the stairs, then you should definitely stay here.

Small but feature complete room, complete with a private shower and toilet. The bed was comfortable, and the AC was welcome (I like it cold, even in January...) The employee at reception was polite and friendly, as always, and even managed to get me checked in a couple of.hours early - bear in mind this is based on availability, and may not be possible every time.

Unfortunately, I was placed in a room next to a shared toilet for the 2 other rooms on the floor, and as such, I could hear the bathroom being used. Understandable, though, and I appreciate having my own toilet and not sharing.

The warm welcome by the Staff who were always so pleasant and professional. The rooms are newly renovated so the room is modern with tasteful decor.

The stairs! Typical steep narrow Dutch staircase. But to be fair the Staff assist with luggage and it is good cardio!

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the middle of everything and close to the main train station. The staff are friendly, caring and thoughtful. We appreciated the proactive refill of complimentary water, and the ability for an early check-in. The room was modern, well-equipped and exceptionally clean.

It is a historic house - we expected a small room and were aware of the steep stairs. We had requested to avoid them but that could not be accommodated, but the staff helped with the suitcases. Room was toward the back of the house and therefore quiet but felt confined as window faced the wall of the next house.

Very recently refurbished with really good quality finish and fittings. Tea or coffee can be self served at reception, bring your fav Nespresso pod! We didn't need it but heating or air con was available in the room we were in. Really near the station although you can barely hear it. USB charger above the bed is a nice touch.

Rooms are bijoux and stairs are 16th century steep, so don't book it if you need a lift for your luggage!. Street is busy into the early hours so a little noise is to be expected. This is the only downside of being super central and right in the centre of the action.

Excellent Location. Easy walk from Central Station and within close proximity to restaurants, bars and all the other centralized activities. Staff was on point and friendly. Small cozy room with Queen size bed.

The entrance is on what I consider a side street. Construction is going on as of April 2023, closing entrance off Martelaarsgracht, so you must enter from Prins Hendrikkade/Singel, which if you arrive in the morning, deliveries could create a closure so you would have to walk a little further an enter from alley way off Stromarkt. There is a wall on three sides of the bed, so if your feet normally hang off the bed be conscious of that. Normal small size stairs for area.

This hotel is the perfection location, close to Central Station and centre of Amsterdam. The rooms were really clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and polite and couldn't of been more helpful.

When booking we were advised it's a shared bathroom and toilet which we assumed was for the room. However, the toilets were in the corridor shared with 3 other rooms. The size of the room, shower and toilets were small, but for the price and location we would definitely stay with Ciao Papa again.

Abebe was really friendly at the reception and really helpfull. He allowed us to check in early because the rooms were ready and to leave our baggage there on the last day until our flight time. The room was small but was very clean and tidy. The only thing missing was a hair dryer in the bathroom. The location is one of the best. closed to everything. 5 min walk from the station and coffee shops. full of souvenir shop just outside and a really nice place to have breakfast in the morning few steps away, they are a bakery too.

This is a fairly new hotel, very small but very comfortable. My room was simply a double bed, a toilet, a shower, a small desk (handy for laptop work) and a decent sized television. The bed was very comfortable, and I had a great night's rest due to the air-con in the room - a rarity in Amsterdam hotels! (I like it really cold, so even in November it got some use from me. Will be a lifesaver in the hot summer months.) Staff were excellent and I had a quick chat with the manager as I checked out. Very friendly and very professional. The rooms might not be very big, but if all you need is a place to sleep and shower for a night or two, it's perfectly suitable and fairly priced.

An alarm went off a couple of times, perhaps some naughty guests trying out the no-smoking policy?

The staff were fantastic, they were welcoming and were even passionate about the story of the historic building. If you're looking for a short stay during your travel and don't plan to spend much time in the room, than this is a good hotel.

While the location is convenient, be aware that you are on the edge of a party area, I suggest earplugs if you're a light sleeper. They mention it in the booking, but just a reminder there is no lift with narrow Dutch stairs and the toilets are shared with other people on your floor.
