Scenicland Motels

The rooms were very clean & tidy. We were given the unit which is best suited for someone in a wheelchair. This meant the sink & handbasin were very low. We understand the reason for this but we were not expecting to be in a unit like this. It wasn’t a problem, it was just different. We did however enjoy the spacious shower.

There weren’t any bedside cabinets. We stayed 6 nights & would’ve appreciated having them.

When I booked several months ago there WAS mention of continental breakfasts being available, however, when I checked in there was no offer of this made. However, upon my enquiry at Reception, although it seemed as though they were a bit surprised by my enquiry, they were VERY amenable to providing a continental b/f for myself & two travelling buddies, but there was no "check sheet" for what was preferred. I was asked to make a list of what we would like, & did so, & then were provided the next morning with a lovely breakfast for a very reasonable price. So, thank you Scenicland Motel - we REALLY appreciated your generosity :)

We stayed 2 further nights a little later on, in a unit with venetian blinds. The unit itself was great but the venetian blinds had thick dirt/dust on them.

. Well laid out, spacious, quiet room with all that we required at a good price. Central location with good parking and easy access to good eating places and a supermarket. The owners are a great example of West Coast hospitality. Not only were they friendly and knowledgeable about the area, but they went over and above to help us with a situation and we were very grateful. We highly recommend this Scenicland Motel.

Really friendly and helpful staff and owners Good sized room with kitchen Good laundry facilities on site We stayed 3 nights, arrived by car and left on the train. The owners gave us a lift to the train station. Easy walk to town and nearby restaurants and the beach We'd definitely stay again

Our sofa was a bit old and lumpy! But we still loved the place overall

We were catching the Tranzalpine train from Greymouth to Christchurch and we were coming back the next day. Tina and Kevin very kindly let us leave our rental car there. Kevin dropped us to the station and offered to pick up up the next day. We really appreciated their kindness. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed large. It was quiet and we had a lovely stay. Thank you.

Nothing.

The bed and lounge were separate rooms which was nice. We had been put into a room on level 2 but they were very accommodating in offering a ground floor room which was really convenient. Also had a laundry which was very easy to use and very clean.

The bathroom was a little tight and the shower was above a spa bath which meant water went onto the floor and the spa got a bit slippery from the soap.

Very obliging hosts as we had to park with a kayak on the car roof and there wasn't a lot of room. Hosts let us park outside their home. Was relieved the unit had air conditioning.

No dislikes. A couple of suggestions would be hooks behind the bathroom door for hanging clothes and a small hand rail or handle for hanging the tea towel.

While the rooms were a little older and on the road frontage - there was no road noise with double glazing. Rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. Hosts were super welcoming. Picking us up from the train and dropping our bags back to the train station the next day! Thanks so much for being so friendly, helpful and welcoming. 20 minutes walk from Monteith and New World next door made it easy to cook in our units as well.

The couch could do with updating - but did not detract from our stay at all.

Charming and comfortable Motel with welcoming and very accommodating host, Michelle. We liked the layout of the space, furniture and classic kitchen fittings. Good wifi. Good location, with supermarket and restaurant close by, and within walking distance to town.

The handwash basin was in the shower room, rather than in the seperate toilet. Some of the kitchen equipment was tired. These were minor issues, as the overall experience was excellent.

What a little gem!! Couldn't fault. Owners just so welcoming. One of the best places we stayed at. Beautiful inside. Maintained so well. Close to supermarket (almost next door) 100% would recommend and def stay again. Bed comfortable, good room size. Absolutely delightful.

Absolutely nothing. There is usually something but this place takes care of even the little things like having Moccona coffee available !!
