Lake Taupo Motor Inn

The pool was warm and open until 8pm, you just have to take the cover on and off yourself. The spa was good as well and also open until 8pm, although the bbq area still had rubbish sitting there from ages ago, as it was full of rainwater. The room was great, liked how the bathroom was between the kids room and main room so we could watch TV without them hearing any noise. The kitchen was well equipped to cook, hotplate, toaster, microwave, fridge, and enough pots/pans and utensils for what we needed.

The curtains were very light and with lots of lights outside at night it perpetually seemed like it was morning and it was really hard to sleep. Pool area could do with a tidy up, meat trays and food rubbish left near the bbq could be easily cleaned away but looks like they havent been checked in some time, would hate to think what the actual bbq looks like!.

We had the exec studio with the spa bath, which was very welcome in the cold winter! The location was excellent, near great restaurants etc. it has an ev charger which we used on the first night. nice, well resourced studio with balcony was very comfortable and warm

On our second night we were assured the ev charger would be available but when we arrived back after an evening out 3 hours later, it was occupied (all night) by the owner himself. This cost us $50 to charge in town instead but had been the main reason we had booked at this venue. The room was clean and well resourced but carpet is stained.

The Room servicing staff were fantastic, so willing to help and do what was necessary to sort the littlest problem, a big thank you to Moana, a real asset to have there. The view from the room is great, and the motel is easy walking distance to the CBD.

Not so much "didn't like", noticed since our last visit a few years ago, the motel is needing normal kind maintenance in areas, (getting tired) eg bathroom, exterior paint around doors etc. Not a criticism, just an observation. The management will be working through their list.

Clean rooms and we liked that there was an extra room for the kids, meant we got some peace and quiet overnight! The balcony was a handy space to hang some washing out. Good location and plenty of parking options, if we'd have been there a bit longer I think we'd have enjoyed the space/facilities a bit more!

The hours for accessing the laundry room could have been better, didn't manage to make use of it because it closed quite early - I understand this is to stop disruption to other guests, but it meant we didn't get to use it at all, as it was closed by the time we arrived (6pm ish) and didn't open again until after we needed to check out.

We appreciated having the separate bedroom. This is quite hard to get in general but for a couple who don't go to bed at the same time it is great because I could read without disturbing my husband.

The bed coverings were too heavy. We would like it if there was a very light cover (about half the weight of the lightest bedspread that you did provide.). The sheet alone is often fine thru most of the night in summer but a little bit extra would be good when the temperature drops. Virtually ALL motels and hotels have this blind spot so we are not singling you out!!!

The room was beautifully decorated and has a great set-up. The spa bath was really big, my husband and I could fit comfortably with room to spare. The room was a decent size and did not feel cramped. We stayed in the corner room and the views of the lake was spectacular. The room is also equipped with a big TV for those rainy or lazy days.

I wish there was a bit more attention given to the cleanliness as I found some thick (assuming beard) hair on the bathroom basin. The room only has a kitchenette and limits your food making options, but they do have outside bbq's that you can use.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and well aired and roomy.Very good facilties in kitchen and bathroom.The bed and seating were very comfortable.The table and chairs on the balcony were lovely to be able to sit outside in fresh air with the company of the odd bird in the trees.Very good TV channels and reception.Also very good security around motel.Also very good lighting in apartment.

No complaints at all!

Good location within easy walking distance of town centre with its restaurants,shopping etc. had studio unit which was very spacious. Stayed 2 nights with first night booked and paid for online but on arrival decided to stay another night. Most obliging in rearranging things so we could retain the same unit.

Single bed had electric blanket whereas double bed did not. Like numerous motel units a lack of storage places in bathroom for toiletries etc.

The heated pool and spa were amazing. The pool was a lovely warm temperature especially for winter

It’s not a negative as such but our room had a large queen bed in the main lounge and two singles in a seperate room for our two teenagers. Our teenagers had no tv so they spent their time in our space laying all over our bed watching our tv. It would’ve been great if they had their own. Also when their door was closed their room was freezing as we had the heat pump in the lounge. The toilet also didn’t have a good flush so 🫤

It was just what we needed. We had been travelling all day and our car broke down. I made the booking within the same hour that we arrived at the Inn. The receptionist was lovely! The room was clean and set up well, we didn't really need to think about much besides resting and finding dinner later that night, which she also made suggestions for. Thank you!

I don't think you could have done anything more, within the reasonable cost of the room to make the stay any better. It was relaxing and quiet, exactly what we needed. Thank you!
