Lakefront Lodge Taupo

The location was excellent, right across the road from Lake Taupo. The bathroom was very serviceable and had a bathtub, which was great, and an excellent exhaust fan. The out-of-hours door was close to my room, which was convenient for entry to the building.

My room was "lakeview" but on the side of the building, so the lake was only viewable when right up against the window. It was quite warm weather and the room did not have air conditioning, only a small desk fan. The window did not have fly screens and opened a long way when open, there was also no sheer curtain, so people on the street would have been able to see me through the open window. I was not sure about the cleanliness of the kettle in my room. There are a lot of stairs in this building, there is one lift, but it was hard to find and very far from my room.

Absolutely loved the feel of the lodge on arrival. The staff were lovely and friendly. Always polite and helpful. Lovely enough to remind us we had booked the bunk room (which was planned) 😂 The room was comfortable, clean and had good space for the size. Very handy there was a little fridge in there. Good pressure shower. Location was a 10/10. Half way between the landing and the city. We walked to and from the town center. Right across the road from the water front with stunning views. The restaurant upstairs was yummy, clean and had quick service. The outside area was clean and well laid out. We will definitely be returning. I look forward to showing this place off.

The bunk beds were extremely squeaky. One little movement and the whole lodge heard us moving around. The windows could do with some privacy curtains or window tints to add a bit of privacy to the room. The WiFi didn't work in our room. Which is surprising as our room was right beside reception. It didn't bother us and we were not in our room much.

It was a cute little lodge right on the lake with on-site restaurant, spa pool and heated swimming pool the room was also very cosy and great value for money. The owner was very helpful and kind during check in process

Check in was lack lustre and a little cold however I work as a hotel receptionist also so I understand being tired by the end of the day ect. A lot of un-desirables staying at the place loud and obnoxious (looked like they were tradies most likely booked in for work by their company) and that is at no fault of the property:)

We arrived late and left early. Hotel contacted us when we were late and left keys in a lock box which was easy. room was quiet and beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and well equipped

As i new we were going to be late arriving the main reason we chose this motel as booking.com website says check-in is from 2pm-midnight but turns out this is incorrect. Luckily, they contacted me when we were late and arranged the key to be left in a lockbox. (Not sure what would have happened if I missed answering the call) They said they will change the check in hours displayed on the website but have noticed they haven't bothered as of yet.

This place was beautiful. Staff very friendly when we checked in, also very helpful. We booked a ocean view room and it lived up to expectations it was beautiful. The room was very clean and so comfy. They even had a bar/restaurant on site that we was allowed to if we wished to order food and drinks to our room. They had a pool and hot tub which we never used as was only here for one night. But we lived this place and would defiantly be back again to stay!

Facilities were great. Location fantastic. Nice, clean and pleasant stay. Great hot water in shower.

Room was very warm. Needed to sleep with windows open to let air flow which meant you could hear every conversation in courtyard. No blinds or sheets on windows - only curtains, so had to pull them shut whenever you got changed. It was tricky taking bike and bags up the stairs, but that’s not anything bad to do with hotel - not everyone would be bringing bikes. Another little table or shelf to put food on would be helpful.

The location is excellent. The front boundary and restaurant has a directly facing view of the lake and mountains. Shannon (reception) was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff were also very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and pleasant. The bed was amazing, very comfortable, with quality sheets that must be at least 400 thread count. The reception area looked fabulous with lots of polished wood which gave me an impression of opulence. Great shower pressure.

There is probably insufficient parking. Myself and other guests parked on the street. I was told on arrival that I was on the ground floor and so I may hear the floor boards creaking from guests on the above floor walking around on the board flooring. That turned out to be a huge problem for me and after two nights I felt sleep deprived and ratty. The towels smelt like they need an antifungal treatment to me. Beyond the opulent looking reception, I got the feeling of a boarding house which made the price seem exorbitant. To be fair the room was nicely refurbished and gave me a Hamptons vibe.

Prompt service at check in and check out. The Social Club area for bar and restaurant was an excellent choice. Staff very helpful and friendly and the food offering was very nice.

There was a problem with the bed/mattress in our room. We asked at reception if they could look at it for us. When we came back they had done something as it felt more supported and our second night was much more comfortable. There were no problems with my parents room. It’s an older building so we anticipated creaks and noises but some of the doors could do with oiling. We would stay again as prices were reasonable and location was great. And to be fair they did do something when we pointed out a problem.

Judging by the reviews and photos I was anxious of what I was going to find. Ultimately, the room I got must've been recently redone as it didn't match any of the photos. It was clean, white room highlighting the cleanliness. There was a microwave and fridge included which I was greatful for. The other major review complaints I heard was about sound. From my ground floor room I did hear the occasional suitcase rumble over my head which I can imagine that if I needed/wanted to sleep before 9pm I would maybe have struggled, but ultimately if you're not extremely sensitive to sound it should be fine Great stay overall. Thanks!

The room and bed was comfortable and warm and having the fan helped when it got to heated in the room. The service from the staff was great especially the lady waitress upstairs at the restaurant. 100% fantastic service My room was just enough for me and when my daughter joined me on the last night. Didn't have to go anywhere as having a restaurant helped. Didn't use the spa and pool but great to have a bath in my room. 100%

Just parking but overall great place to stay and I felt comfortable and safe.
