Colonial Lodge Motel

Location is good, just across the road from the lake and easy to walk into town. The room was a good size, clean with the usual features. For once the bed was quite comfortable (so many many motel beds are far too hard). The owner is friendly and quick to offer advice on where to visit etc. One good thing was he was always doing something around the property and chatting to guests. Good value for money and we will most likely stay here again.

The room was clean and tidy, had plenty of room so you don't feel cramped. Beds were comfy and warm, was nice have an electric blanket on the bed. The kitchen is equipped with the basics for preparing a basic meal. The TV was great with access to Netflix and standard TV channels. Would happily stay here again.

The parking is VERY tight, you will need a small car and be confident at backing a car in small spaces. The bathrooms are OK just the extractor fans don't really expel the steam properly so the bathroom fogs up fast, but they are very clean and tidy, so it is only a very small thing and doesn't detract from the comfort of the room.

Staff were very helpful. We were very concerned when we found there was no air conditioning as my husband has a serious heart problem. We thought we would need to go elsewhere but the man offered to bring in another fan which workied perfectly. The decor when you walked in had a clean fresh bright look.

The lighting wasn't very good for we oldies!! There wasn't enough towel rails.

A light bright and airy room which was quite spacious and well appointed. The kitchen was good with everything you need and decent space for food preparation. The rooms were older style but well maintained and nicely decorated and lovely to spend time in. Anthony the host was really helpful and friendly and made our stay very pleasant. Would definitely stay again.

We had a great weekend away in Taupo. The hotel is just across the water from the beach and an easy walk into the town centre for dinner or browsing the shops. Would definitely recommend

Our side table had coffee stains on it that weren’t wiped before check in and the bath tub is a bit faded so it didn’t feel completely clean. Our room the shower floor was soft making it not feel stable.

The room was very nice , tastefully decorated to a high spec. The bed was a very comfortable bed to sleep in the linen was of great quality. The room was very warm and it boasted a very lovely bathroom with a corner spa, the bathroom soaps n bits were a lovely quality. This is our second visit to The Colonial. Anthony saw that our stay would be very comfortable and was very nice to share local knowledge.

Location was superb, gorgoues view of sunset, right next to the lake - could just walk over in our swimsuits from the hotel! Super lovely manager, helpful with suggestions and generous with our late check out <3 Couldn't have asked for a better stay! The bath was a nice bonus too even though you're right next to the lake already haha

Very lovely host, he was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. We booked 2 rooms and each room had everything we needed to cook breakfast (stovetop and microwave). Comfortable, soft beds (exactly what we needed) the spa bath is a bonus, rooms were very clean, smart tv in each room, fast internet and very clean. Location is awesome, right across the road from the lake. We will happily stay here again next time we are passing through.

Easy to find , exceptional decoration for a mid range facility. Very comfortable bed and highly functional kitchenette. Our host was absolutely marvellous, generous and warm.

The driveway was a bit steep as it entered onto the street and we bottomed out a couple of times.

The room was great and it had everything we needed. Bonus there was a laundry to do your washing at no charge. Owner was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Walking distance to the shops and eateries. Very pleasant outlook as lake Taupo directly opposite.

Parking was a bit tight but we managed.
