Silver Fern Lodge

The room was very nice. Clean and tidy.the bed was amazing. Nothing luxurious but very good. Good value for money.

Unfortunately the people next door were having a party at 3 a.m. drunk, extremely noisy, and nobody did anything about it.

The room was clean and roomy for the price. The heat pump is an excellent choice for heating.

I nearly had a fall when showering because I couldn't reach the shampoo dispenser. I gave up on washing my hair. If you're short, you WILL need to take your own shampoo or just leave it. Otherwise, you might need an ambulance. They really, really did not think about the safety of short customers when installing the dispensers.

Affordable accommodation close to all of the tourist attractions we booked. We were happy with what we paid for as we were out most of the day and only needed somewhere to sleep. Supermarket down the road so it was convenient. The two male staff we interacted with were friendly and efficient helping with our requests, thanks for being so helpful! Beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious, private bathroom was clean and shower was big with good water pressure. Wifi was free and really fast.

Nothing major but we booked a two bedroom unit so we thought it would be two bedrooms inside the same room however you get 2 separate bedrooms (units) next door to each other and the private bathroom is separate as well directly opposite one of those rooms. We were on ground floor and at night we could hear so much noise from doors slamming not sure if it was from dorm next to us or upstairs but it was constant.

The room and the location is perfect. Beds are comfortable and staff friendly. It's not the first time I've stayed here and would recommend to friends. Can easily go into town for night out and walking distance to get back to your room.

Was only in town for work. Didn't get to go into town or enjoy much of Taupo. But even though I live out of town I'm from here so I already know how beautiful it is here and what's on offer as far as entertainment and the night life. Maybe next time I'm home

The Silver Fern Lodge exceeded our expectations! We booked the Superior Room for two people and it was clean, very comfortable, and well equipped (with complementary tea/coffee). The room also had it's own TV and air conditioner. Great value for money considering what we paid. The lodge staff were super friendly and accommodated our laundry during their normal laundry operating hours. Not far from the main Taupo town. Would definitely stay here again. :)

My only criticism: the WiFi was free but patchy and would sometimes drop out. It wasn't an issue for us though since we had data on our phones.

The accommodation was tidy and we paid extra for our own ensuite complete with a bath. We had a fridge in our room and the communal kitchen was just down the hallway where they provided cooking utensils and cutlery. Gratefully we had the end room which was away from the main entrance and this gave us a bit of peace and quiet. The staff came to our aide outside their office hours as we had no towels in our room. Free Wi-Fi and one of the strongest internet connections that I have encountered so far.

A pull-out couch is provided but I ended up with bite marks on my body so instead, I shared the queen bed with my travel buddy. It gets quite cold at night so bring a spare blanket just in case. Car parks are subject to availability. We stayed on the second floor and had to take the stairs as there is no lift but this was okay for us because we travel light and had only intended to stay one night.

A very economical price via Bookings.com for a smart, clean and spacious room. I highly recommend it. Also, I left something behind and the staff were great at communicating to retrieve it.

The air con unit didn't pump out enough heat. Had to use a separate fan heater to supplement. It's a shame because I would have given an even higher score if I'd been able to get this to work satisfactorarily. It would be worth the manager looking into this.

Room was very nice, even a bit of lakeview from our balcony. The very large communal kitchen had everything and real good lakeview which we very much appreciated. All in all a good stay for 90 $ a night for a very nice double ensuite room and parking, free wifi.

As others mentioned, better get your shower early, later (after 8 pm in my case) the water gets warm, but not hot any more. Showerheads positioned for smaller guys but good enough.

Good location. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Basic but great price (so we expected this). Great water pressure and temp for shower (over bath). Expansive kitchen and dining facilities available.

The bed was a bit hard for me (but may have suited others fine). Would suggest putting non-slip mats in the bath/showers. Was okay without but would improve safety.

Friendly welcome from staff when we arrived. Good central location. Parking on site. The room was clean and warm . Every time we went in or out and a staff member saw us they always greeted us. The guest kitchen and dining room was able to be used to cook meals which is very useful.

Looking forward to enjoying a nice breakfast when they are available again..
