HCC Montblanc

Location (very close to Placa Catalanya, lots of eateries, close to Gothic Quarter and El Born etc) and staff exceptional! Cannot review bar/pool/breakfast because didn't use any of it. Even though there have been some MINOR inconveniences, i would definitely book again.

No soundproof windows towards the busy street. Also, you could here your neighbors talking. Second day no emptying of the full bin (only 1 of the 2 was emptied), no more complimentary water bottle after 2nd day. Couldn't handle the AC. It got too warm for me at night. No free mini bar. Couldn't use the deposit box (old-fashioned key lock, without the actual key being there).

Fantastic location within walking distance of lots of main attractions but also near metro so travel was easy to further away sights. Hotel is clean with a lovely terrace where you can have a welcome drink after a hectic sightseeing day. Free glass of fizz on first evening. Staff are friendly and speak great english. Room was a good size with comfy beds. Breakfast was superb with a wide selection of food, both hot and cold, that was continually replenished. Lots of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of hotel. A short walk from hotel to Catalunya square means you can catch a bus to the airport for €4.60 that drops you right at departures. Amazing. would recommend this hotel.

Pool was a bit small and the hotel restaurant didn't open in the evenings which was a bit annoying as it didn't say that on their site.

Location was excellent. It was a main bus hub so airport and sight seeing busses were just a few minutes walk away. Close to some major attractions and food, we didn’t have to go far too much.

There were people smoking grass on our floor every day, and the smell came through our vents. Walking thru the hallway you knew also. There were some very loud people who came back from partying and the kept the party going on around 2am. I think they were also using the pool at that time one night. There also was a bathtub but no plug. That would have been nice for our body after hours of walking.

I liked the fact that the hotel was in an excellent location. Close to everything! My room was in the back of the hotel so I heard no street noise. The front desk clerk, Xavier, was exceptional at his job. He helped me make dinner reservations, gave me clear instructions to places I wanted to walk to and even allowed me to return to the hotel, a week after I checked out and went on a cruise, to store my luggage for a few hours. Xavier was completely professional, very kind and took the time to answer any questions I had.

The woman that checked me in took a very long time to do so. Not sure if she was new at her job. She didn't seem to be very focused on me but just looked at the computer. I didn't get her name. Again, she might just have been new to the job.

Breakfast selection is excellent. Location is perfect as it's in the centre of Barcelona. I've been coming to this unbelievable for over 20 years! It's ideal!

There is nothing not to like abou t this hotel

Despite the fact that single room is quite small and overlooks walls of another house, it has a big advantage: the room is very quiet so you have a good chance to sleep. Also, 30 minutes till Sagrada Familia, shopping streets, Gaudi's buildings - you can cover it just walking the shady streets.

I spent most of the time outside, and that was my plan. Barcelona is such a beautiful city so I didn't have time to find any disadvantages of the hotel :) is the single room small? Yes, it is, but I do not need more. Is the room gloomy? Yes, it is, but it gives a chance to rest of the sun.

The hotel was very accessible From the Airport there are buses that run frequently for about 7Euros and it took about 30mins. The hotel itself was well placed and very central to all the tops stores to buy clothing, supermarket (Carrefour Supermarket was about 3mins walk, fast food places (McDonalds, KFC, Burger King etc) and other Restaurants . Room was very comfortable and big enough. Staff were very helpful ( my plane was delayed and got to the Hotel later than anticipated and the staff were welcoming even though it was close to midnight. I was also provided with a kettle after asking as there was none in the room). The staff were helpful in pointing out places of interest and also give direction when needed. The Wifi was good too.

The next door occupants spoke were speaking loudly after midnight on one of the nights while staying here. I called the reception and reported it and it was sorted.

Personal working there are amazing, The hotel is in the heart of barcelona and a few meters from a metro station too so you can explore each part of the city, First day we got it we recieved a bottle of cava in the room as a welcome. During the week we spent the room was cleaned everyday and I note the cleaning team 10/10

No soundproofing between rooms literally it's lik you live with other people in the same room. The water heater was not there but in the room manual last fay I found out the it comes on demand and the safe is payable too

Our room had an amazing terrace with views of the city. The breakfast was fabulous as were the sangrias which we enjoyed daily. We enjoyed the setup of our room and bathroom plenty of space.

There was a lot of construction going on so some interference in walking around and transportation. An information sheet for what was around including a grocery market and where las ramblas was would have been helpful. We found many things by accident. We were charged for ice for our room which was disappointing.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Close to Plaça de Catalunya and hence in the middle between the old and new city. By foot you reach a lot of the important attractions and the metro station of urquinaona is very close. The employees in the hotel are very helpful. The rooms are cleaned each day, even in Covid-times. At the day of departure, the hotel can keep your luggage in a secured room to allow the tourists enjoy the city until the latest minute of their stay. When I go back to Barcelona, I choose this hotel again.

The mattress in my bed was equipped with springs and for me not so comfortable. But I need to be honest, I have a fragile back. The room we had was at the back and hence very silent. Only the days on which we had neighbours, the walls seemed to be only a little soundproof.
