so, this was a lovely little place. the thing that made it for me were the staff one bar man in particular .. didn’t get his name, think was ex forces otherwise I doubt he would have done the tug of war for the army. went out of way to be of service and friendly .. ridiculously marshmallow comfy bed .. it’s low though but I’m short so was ok

you just need to keep in mind it’s an old pub and although rooms are defo lovely and prob designed by a woman (compliment) with plugs and mirrors in the right place, there was a dip in my floor boards and toilet seat loose but she knew and was attending to it. also there is some noise from the bar at night but it is a pub! and I had the room above x

Really warm welcome upon arrival. Locals were a nice bunch. Ordered an evening meal which came out fast and hot, despite being at the end of service. Steak cooked well and very tasty. Decor of pub and rooms was really smart and clean. Breakfast served on time and again well cooked and plenty. Perfect stop over for driving up/down M6 for an overnight stay and mooch around Appleby. Would certainly recommend and hope to stay again. Lush stay thanks.

Couldn’t fault it at all.

location was easy to find and staff were friendly

We were told a week before our stay that there would be no evening meal or breakfast option available at the pub, as they had lost their chef. We appreciated being given the option to change our plans. I feel an option for a cold breakfast/cereal/croissant could have been offered which didn't require the chef's skill. The bed was also ludicrously low to the floor, which was odd. The room was hot, so a fan would have been appreciated in the room

I travelled alone for a wedding and only needed the space to sleep over the night before and after the wedding. The space was clean and had the amenities I needed to just be able to get up and go. A lovely sleeping space with the adjoining bathroom.

It would have been nice to have some drinking water provided in the room. Tea/coffee/hot chocolate was provided which I definitely used. It was no big deal, I could have gone down and asked for some but that was the only 'negative'.

The room was very well decorated and comfortable with a well equipped shower room en-suite. Very clean too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Situated in a beautiful small village, this old Inn has been well planned to consider the needs of modern tourists. Would definitely recommend and return if staying in this area.

We were advised on booking that we could check in to our room from 3.00pm, however on arrival at the Inn, the sign stated that the Inn did not open until 4.00pm. Although this did not cause too much of an issue it would be useful for the check in information to be updated on the website.

No breakfast provided; nor was it available as chef had left. However this did not detract from our stay. The hotel is an extremely old building (18th century) but has recently been refurbished to a high standard. The bedroom was on the small side but the quality of the decor and furnishing can not be faulted. Appleby is about 4 miles away and is reached by a mainly single track road - some really good eating places.

No suggestions.

The hotel/pub is located in a small but pretty village. The pub is an old property but recently refurbished to a high standard. It's an extremely warm. Welcoming property. Rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. The pub has a friendly atmosphere. Food is an excellent standard, big servings and good prices. Good choice of ales and lagers. Good Gardens to enjoy food and drinks. Rooms are cleaned daily upon request. Staff are very friendly and pleased to assist.

Nothing to complain about.

The Crown Inn is not actually in Appleby-in-Westmoreland but in the very small village of Snape. We had a large room with walk in shower. Plenty of car parking available right in front of the hotel. Excellent wifi and mobile phone signal. Our bed although comfortable was so low it was difficult to get in and out, possible due to our age. Our evening meals were really outstanding.

Breakfast for me was good but my wife who does not eat cooked breafast resorted to toast as things like berries/fruit/yoghurt and cereals are not availabe.

Close to A66 lovely room, newly decorated, clean and comfortable. The owner was most helpful. We were the only people staying and it was closed the next day, and they were still willing to provide us with breakfast.

We arrived early evening as the Inn was closing and it took a while to contact the owners. But we had booked late on the road and it was a busy Coronation weekend.

Beautiful location in a quiet village, with easy access to the A66 for Penrith, Keswick and very close to the Spa at Center Parcs. The room was modern and very clean. The hosts were friendly and the Full English breakfast was excellent. We had dinner in the pub one night and the food was wonderful and excellent value. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend.
