The White House Guest House

The host was very welcoming, warm and friendly. The B&B itself is cute, oldie worldie and spotlessly clean. Beautiful setting, overlooking rolling fields and amazing mountain views from all angles...and the fabulous sunsets just topped it all off... The cooked breakfast was delicious and plentifully and I have a big appetite...and more available if wanted it.😁 I will certainly be back in the not so distant future, as rare these days to find such a lovely place with everything to hand... If I could give a 10 ⭐ rating I certainly would.. Thank you again..!!!

The host was super welcoming and friendly, breakfast was superb, everything was spotless clean. I stayed in the single room and though small it was just perfect the bed is very comfy, the room is wam and the private bathroom is amazing. Host mentioned I a bath when saying there's always hot water and I did take a bath and it was so relaxing. Only stayed one night on my way to Scotland but would happily stay again and 100% recommend 👌

There's nothing I didn't like, this place was perfect

The host was so warm and accommodating, the rooms clean and comfortable, the breakfasts delicious with such impressive variety. The guest house even had a cozy lounge area full of board games, books for you to relax with. We loved the caring and personal touches the host provided and she had the most adorable dogs. I’d recommend this guest house to everyone but would be worried that it would get so popular that there won’t be a room for us next time!

Very friendly and welcoming. My room was clean and with everything you .might need, teas & coffee, slippers, dressing gown & a sink in the room. You had your own private bathroom down the hall and it was huge with an amazing bath. Finally, my bed was extremely comfortable. Oh sorry, almost forgot, breakfast was really nice. Would definitely stay again.

This is only the single room - Going down the hall in the night for the bathroom but only because I'm iup lots in the night, I was worried about waking people. But this is really just my issue and not the properties

I booked very last minute as I was away in ullswater and couldn’t find anywhere close still available. I’m very pleased this was the case. I got back from a long day to a comfortable warm room and private bathroom with unlimited hot water for a nice bath. The facilities were very clean and comfortable. My room was a single room but suited my needs excessively. Coffee facilities and a warm bed. Downstairs was a communal area to relax and a small dining room with a fantastic view of the sunrise on the frosty morning. The staff were very accommodating and we shared stories at breakfast. Which was excellent. Plenty of food and refills of orange juice and coffee. Cereal and fruit available also. The area was nice and quiet and not far to drive into the more tourist areas of the Lake District. I would definitely Recommend to anyone.

We have stayed several times and it was a lucky find. It is exactly half way between our home and where we stay in Scotland. Prue is an excellent host and always makes us feel so welcome. The room is very comfortable and clean. The bed gives an excellent night's sleep in quiet surroundings with a great view to boot. Lovely early morning walk through a wooded area with our dog, Inca, who is always treated like a princess, with her own breakfast poached egg and treats. Breakfast is fabulous with a great choice and sets us up for our journey and the rest of the day. This is an exceptional guest house with many personal touches. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you.

Nothing to dislike.

Very warm welcome despite the short notice. The single room is small but perfectly functional with everything I needed. Huge private bathroom with big bath and lovely hot water. Very comfortable bed, lovely crisp sheets, comfortable pillows and huge fluffy towels. Breakfast was preordered the previous night. Delicious fresh fruit and lovely, cooked to order hot breakfast. Very good coffee and very friendly hostess. Beautiful garden!

Nothing I didn’t like! It’s an old building with all its quirks.

We stayed for 1 night on route to Cairngorms from Cornwall- perfect stop over - comfortable clean and Pru (host) was very friendly and attentive- our 2 dogs were made most welcome and even had treats for breakfast. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice and all freshly prepared. We would definitely stay again .

Very easy to find, with ample parking space right outside of the property. A beautiful large garden with lovely views and plenty of wildlife ( some rabbits in the garden) The friendly owner came out to meet me and I was made to feel most welcome. A comfortable night's sleep, with a fantastic shower in the morning, followed by one of the best cooked breakfasts that I've had in a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Loved The White House, so easy to reach from the M6 going north to Scotland so made the perfect overnight stop for us en route to Perthshire. Family room was fabulous, comfortable beds, plenty of space and lovely en suite bathroom with great shower. Breakfast was huge & delicious and the service was fabulous! We couldn't have asked for anything else for our stay. Thanks so much for taking such great care of us!
