All the staff were fantastic. On check in the manager upgraded us to a larger room which had been recently refurbished to a high standard with stylish en suite shower room. Complimentary tea coffee etc & delicious shortbread bics. Lovely 300 year old traditional pub that had the log fire on one of the nights. Usual bar foid menu but all good quality ingredients cooked to perfection. We had the fish & chips, Lovely fresh fish in a crisp batter and the steak & ale pie, succulent steak in a rich beef gravy. Chocolate brownie for dessert all finished off with a cappuccino. The breakfasts were equally as good & portions very generous. Good walks from the door over to Askham village and onto the Ullswater fells. Can definitely recommend and will stay again.

Nothing. Everything was perfect

Fantastic location, with far reaching views and beautifully furnished rooms. Comfy bed, lovely shower, and a gorgeous homemade breakfast with a great variety of options including full hot breakfasts and continental selections to accompany. Very attentive staff, really helpful when we asked for somewhere to store our bikes without notice before arriving. The Thursday pub quiz created a nice atmosphere to enjoy a couple of local beers in the pub, too. Dog friendly and a lovely homely atmosphere - perfectly situated for a stop on the way further up north, or a few nights a stone's throw from Ulswater. Would recommend Aira Falls National Trust a 10 minute drive away!

A building which from the outside looks a bit old....don't be deceived its really nice. the rooms where very clean with tea and coffee making facilities. The toilet was very, very small...but you don't live in the toilet, the shower was good and very clean (although there is a down side to the toilet i will explain in the box below). The meals were nice and breakfast was really good, although if your an early traveler for meetings the breakfast doesn't start until 8am which wont suit everyone!

the toilet in the room is a macerating toilet and very noisy. its noisy during the toilet flush and the shower running. this is fine during the day and tea time but god its noisy when you have a shower at 6:30am getting ready for work i felt for the other guests.

Good location, room was clean and well presented. Nice coffee in the rooms, and lovely outdoor space for my evening meal.

Leaving early in the morning seemed to be an issue. Raised with the person I dealt with at check in but in the morning I went down and the whole place was in darkness. The person I told that I needed to leave at 7am, when he told me breakfast was served from 8am, had not thought to deal with this requirement. He just noted I would not require breakfast. Thankfully a staff member was taking her dog out and was able to let me out eventually.

Staff were very friendly and accomodating. There was a small fridge located outside the room that was fully stocked with fresh milk to take as needed, much better than the usual sachets. The bed was very comfortable and the room overall was spotless, Restaurant food was excellent, good portions and a reasonable price.

The toilet was connected to a macerator which was quite noisy - ok when you needed to use it, but quite loud if needed during the night,

Lovely spacious modern room, cosy welcoming atmosphere in the pub, food was great, staff lovely and good location as not far from M6 but felt like middle of nowhere. Only 7 rooms so not busy and just a great place to stay, we would definitely stay again and recommend.

Vegan options on the food menu which is great but no soy, oat or other alternative milk for breakfast or in the room for the tea and coffee facilities. Luckily we thought ahead and had bought some on the way. Also really loud pump noise when we or other guests flushed the toilet or ran the tap/shower. Not great as it woke us up a few times.

Lovely little room, just what we needed for our weekender. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was good and parking was free.

When we first arrive it looked like our bathroom was used by the kitchen/other staff as there were footprints to and from the bathroom with pee on the seat. Outside of this the bathroom was very clean. The shower made a terribly loud noise when in use, but worked absolutely fine. (Just lock the rooms and tell staff not to use guest rooms.)

Location excellent, not far from main road North/South, and easy to visit Ullswater. Very friendly efficient staff. Excellent music played in background. A little fridge in corridor for guests. Kettle and quality drink sachets in room. Decent evening meal and good breakfast (ask for toast with cooked dishes!): great yogurt. Log fire, water for dogs. Car park. Easy walk round the village. Wordsworth owned the pub! Bathroom and fittings very new and decent spec.

Fire door in corridor needs sound dampening. Some plumbing makes odd noise. Guess these will be seen to. Otherwise, all good!

The Fellmans breakfast was superb. i had evening dinner this was also good. loads of outside sitting areas along with plenty cubby corners in the bar for privacy. My room was excellent plenty of condiments. Very modern feel and spotlessly clean. the bed was super comfy and with being in a rural setting the noise from traffic was literary none. lovely to wake up to the view of the countryside. the staff in the bar and reception were great friendly / professional.

Beautiful rooms. Beautiful location. Had a Sunday dinner in the bar which was top quality. The pub is traditional and full of character, good selection of drinks and the staff and locals were fantastic company. I was late down for breakfast but the chef was still accommodating and provided me with a beautiful full english even though it was my mistake.
