Location was great for touring the area including Lincoln. Checkin was quick and was shown the room by John the Owner who was very friendly. Nice bar area with friendly locals. Well kept range of Ales including Landlord and nice wine. Breakfast was superb. I did mention to John how he managed to make every component of the breakfast delicious! Proper local sausages as well, with good quality ingredients well cooked, and plenty of it to set us up for the day. Very much enjoyed our stay thank you

We had planned to arrive at the Red Lion around 6pm and had booked a table for 7pm but we were running late and didnt arrive till 7pm we went straight into the pub to appologise and collect the room key's the owner was very friendly and helpful said that he had put our table booking back by half an hour as we hadn't yet arrived so not to worry. He then took us over to our rooms gave us a quick tour and left with a cheery see you when you're ready. The rooms were ideal B&B rooms for a few nights, Clean and tidy, Warm, Comfy bed, Good shower, Tea and coffee making facilities and a TV. After a quick settle in, we went over to the pub and were warmly greeted again, and taken to out table, drinks orders taken and served quickly while we browsed the food menu. Food order was taken as soon as we were ready and there was no undue waiting, the food was terrific, Hot, tasty and very good value for money, twice while we were eating we were asked if everything was alright. After the main course the dessert order was also taken quickly, and served the same way, everything was very nice and tasty.. The next morning we went over for breakfast, we walked in to the restaurant and the table that we had sat at the previous night had been layed out for us for breakfast, a glass of orange juice ready poured, Pots of tea and coffee on the table, an assortment of toasts, White, wholemeal, granary, a selection of jams and marmalade and butter, Soon after sitting down the full English was served, Sausage x2, Bacon x2, Egg, Mushrooms, Beans and fresh cooked tomatoe. again during our meal we were asked if everything was ok and if there was anything else that we wanted. perfect. As we handed our room keys back as we were leaving we were each thanked for our custom, wished a "safe journey" and "hope to see you again", over all a great experience, Thank you.

The heating went off overnight and didn't come on again until about 8.30 so the room was a little chilly when getting up and showering first thing.

me and a few friends stayed here for a night as a stop off on our way to Nottingham, John the landlord was outstanding and couldn’t do enough for us. unfortunately due to I’ll health the kitchen wasn’t open so we never sampled the food however John pointed us in the rightful direction and 5 minutes away another village with a eatery. All in all this is a lovely pub with a great landlord and friendly locals I wouldn’t hesitate to take my wife here for a break.

Where to begin!!!! A very warm welcome from a guy who was born to do what he does in the hotel and pub industry, John was an absolute star. The room provided to us, perfect. The food for the evening superb (fish and chips like you wouldnt believe), and portion size absolutely stunning. Breakfast the next morning was just as generous and perfectly cooked!!! The atmosphere of the pub itself and the attached rooms, superb. If you want a perfect Autumn or Winter get away where you can have a great meal and a drink or two without the worry of a taxi after on a cold evening, this is the place for you. It's also well located for most attractions around the Lincoln area as well as the city itself, without having to stay in the city and it's boarding costs. Which brings me onto value for money, second to none... To sum it up perfectly, we had to come to this part of the world on business and probably wouldn't have had a reason to come to that part of the world again in the near future. Now we do, as we will be back to see John and family again without question!!!

Stayed here for 2 nights at the weekend to visit family in Lincoln. Located in a lovely village within suitable distance from Lincoln city centre and surrounding villages. Would recommend Nocton RAF Hospital Tour. We had a twin room with fold out bed for me and my 2 kids aged 10 and 12.

My son was harvesting his field trial potatoes (he's a PhD student) and I came to help. We were double booked elsewhere and the landlord recommended the Red Lion instead. We had such a comfortable overnight stay: John the landlord was so kind and helpful, even doing early breakfast for us. The evening meal was really good and the breakfast was great too. Our room was clean, comfortable and newly done out. We felt it was brilliant value and would happily stay there again.

Ummm.... all I can think of is that the beds scooted away from the headboards a bit. Just a very minor point.

Pub located in a nice village setting. The accommodation was located in a purpose built block and the en-suite twin room was spacious well appointed and clean. The included breakfast consisted of good quality ingredients and the inside of the pub was ‘wrap around comfortable’ just what a village pub should feel like. Our host John was very friendly and took the time to chat. Unfortunately we couldn’t try an evening meal during this overnight visit as the pub is closed on Mondays, so next time. I would recommend this venue without hesitation. Thanks John and wife for a nice stay.

What a find! A beautiful, characterful village pub where we were made warmly welcome as soon as we arrived. The owners couldn't have been friendlier - by the second day we felt as if we'd known John and Samantha for years! Nothing was too much trouble: they are hardworking, attentive and deserve every possible success. The evening meals were lovely (and substantial - as was the breakfast), and the menu is varied enough to cater for pretty much every taste, with daily specials to add even more variety. The B&B accommodation is separate from the pub, in a row of 5 pretty lodges. It's therefore quet and self-contained, but with the pub & restaurant handily placed. We will be back!

Nothing! It was a great place to stay; the owners are friendliness personified and the village is quiet and pretty. What's not to like.... This will be our base now whenever we return to Lincoln.

The Red Lion is in the quiet, pretty village of Dunston. The proprietors are working hard to make a success of the business. The staff are friendly and attentive. The bedroom was pleasant, comfortable, and very clean. The pub is a traditional village pub with a convivial feel. The pub prices are reasonable and the bar food is OK (although nothing special). The full English breakfast was good.

I often travel alone and I will never tire of complaining about how solo travellers are overcharged in comparison to those travelling in pairs. I occupied a double room at the Red Lion, and although I would never expect to be charged half of what a couple would be charged, I do expect some concession in recognition of the fact that I consume only half of what a couple would, e.g. I take only one shower, use only one towel, eat only one breakfast, etc., but no - I was charged the full double room rate. Unfair and annoying. There is no choice at breakfast - guests are given a full English and that's that. The breakfast was good, although there was no juice or cereal, and I am accustomed to being asked what I would like rather than getting what I am given.
