ibis Cardiff Gate - International Business Park

Esaam gave us great service throughout our stay - great at check-in and then at the bar later in the night. nothing was too much trouble and he really did a great job!

Heater thermostat in the room didn’t seem to work too well

The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The location was my main reason for choosing this hotel because I wanted an overnight stop on a long journey and for that this hotel was perfect. If making the same journey I would, without doubt, stay there again. I really appreciate the hotels acceptance of my very late check in and their welcoming my dog.

This hotel is right on the edge of a busy motorway and while the road noise didn't disturb my sleep it does start to get quite noisy quite early. Not the hotels fault of course.

First time stayed in ibis, excellent position for sightseeing things we did were about 20 mins away either direction, plenty of carparking, breakfast good selection of hot and cold food, bar in hotel reasonable priced drinks, staff friendly on arrival, the room was basic but a good size

I know the hotel is on a buisness park and service station but there is no pavement to walk to the pub which was only 6 mins away so couldnt have a drink because of driving back to hotel, plus when it went dark a bit dangerous on foot with cars coming on and off.

The location is excellent. It is just off the M4, actually at the Welcome Break services at junction 30. So you can get all sorts to eat and drink there. The staff are very welcoming. The rooms were excellent. I could not find an individual air conditioning control but they seem to have it about right anyway. I was comfortable at all times. Speaking of comfort, the bedding and mattress were very good. No problems sleeping. Breakfast is a good spread. Some cooked items, pastries and bread items. Help yourself, as much as you want. Then we come back to location. It is about 15 minutes by car from central Cardiff. I don't know if there are buses in the area, there is not a train station so I would guess you have to have your own wheels. All in all, a good experience and I know I will have reason to come back to the city. I will check availability of this hotel again. Well done.

A tiny picky item I guess... the parking is a bit limited. It got well busy in there and I left my vehicle actually in the Welcome Break services car park one night as there was not one single space available in the hotel parking.

Very friendly and accomodating staff. Nothing seemed to much trouble. A real credit to the hotel. Room was very clean. I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. To be fair it's a budget hotel, but it's a better breakfast than a lot of 4 star hotels

Furniture in public rooms was a bit basic. And could do with some soft furnishings to stop the echo effect . And bar needs to stock up on soft drinks as this was limited. However these are picky issues. On the whole it was a good experience at a reasonable cost

Absolutely fantastic staff!! Big thumbs up for Javid who we seen most of the time. He was a very polite & caring guy. We thought he was very professional within his job. Javid made us feel so welcomed, as he served us, with food, drinks and played pool. He couldn't do enough for us. A big high five to this guy, with a massive thankyou, for waiting on us hand foot & finger. We will be back fingers crossed, maybe around the end of January for our 12yr anniversary. The other staff we also met were very friendly and acommodating to all our needs. Such as clean towels & tea 'n' coffee extra's i.e. milk & sweeteners. Fantastic location, easy to find and very handy for petrol, as it was just before the services. We also went & checked out kfc, whsmith, burger king & starbucks. The bathroom was very clean but had problems, with the shower, turning the temperature gage so it was a bit cooler for us. The weather we had this weekend was scorching hot, so I gave up haha xx The reception/lounge/diner was so comfortable. I felt at home with the seating there. Was so relaxing!! We were also aloud to park our car in the disabled bay due to me having problems walking. This was great & was 'free', so don't forget to ask while booking your room online. This hotel is 'card only' so NO cash. Even paid for the pool table with my card. Fab hey!! Yes definitely value for money. We were in room 6 and stayed Friday till Monday as it was the hubby's birthday treat, on the saturday from me. Our dining experience was perfect!! All the correctiveness was done spot on. I had a little trouble with the toaster as it took ages to make toast. Got there in the end!! Everything was great, so thankyou for making us feel at home xxx

The bed we slept in, unfortunately, was like sleeping on a piece of board. The bed should of been more comfortable, as it hurt my sides & back. There wasn't much to complain about or be unhappy about...all good here really, just the odd little bits xx Next time we stay we will be getting a privileged room. Fingers crossed on a better night's sleep 😴 lol xxx

Perfect room with everything we needed even down to a fan when asked for one. Super comfy bed. Very quiet room so got off to sleep really quickly. Will definitely come again.

We payed to have a breakfast in the morning which looked fantastically displayed so we chose a full English which items were in heaters but unfortunately all items of food were cold no heat at all and that was at 8am so not late for breakfast at all which was a real shame.

The rooms were a good size and the bed was so comfy! Very clean rooms and well maintained. The hotel is next to a service station for fuel/food etc. Because it is out of the city centre, it was really quiet too!

Didn't realise that there is hardly any (read 'no') parking in Cardiff when there is a concert /event at the stadium. Lots of road closures on those nights to make the city centre pedestrianised. Because of that we had to taxi to the venue from the hotel (between £15-23 depending on traffic). After the concert taxi cost £25 back to the hotel. Not much breakfast choice if you need gluten free options.

nice location if you’re wanting to get straight onto the motorway to Cardiff and also good location for food, kfc over the road and Deliveroo has loads of options to be delivered.

bathroom/shower wasn’t very clean, bed was solid and lack of lighting around the mirrors. shower temp was either too hot or too cold, wall had lots of stains (food or something) up it, extremely hot in the room with no aircon and windows only open about 15cm.

The room was very big. I travelled for work so I had a room to myself. The double bed was more than enough. The hotel is conveniently located opposite a service station. At the time of writing this, there's a KFC, Starbucks, Waitrose, Burger King, a small shop and little casino slots. Toby Carvery is a minute away on foot too. So, plenty of choices available.

My room card key sometimes didn't work. A member of staff spotted me having troubles with the card so he said he'll give it a go. It worked straight away. Apparently, the cards used are old and a bit dated because you swipe them on the door lock. So, they're more prone to faults compared to the newer cards which you tap against the lock.
