The room was really big with good facilities - the standard of complimentary toiletries was really high as were the drinks availalbe. The bed was very comfortable. The wifi was easy to use which was helpful when planning where to go. The location was next to Bute Park which is a beautiful, large park with plenty to see and do. The Aquabus to Mermaid Quay runs every half hour during the day for £7 adult single. You can also get boat trips around Cardiff Bay when you get there.

Although it said to ask for a top-up on drinks it would have been nice if the cups could have been cleaned on a daily basis. We had to use boiled water from the kettle to clean them. A glass or wall mounted toothbrush holder would be a nice addition to the bathroom facilities.

I stayed one night at the Pontcanna Inn on a work trip. I arrived early needing wifi access to host an online meeting - staff were extremely accommodating allowing me to check-in early. The wifi worked and all went well. I know there is no expectation of early check-in, but the team went above and beyond to make things work for me. As a biker, it was great to have a car park to keep the motorbike safe overnight too. My room was comfortable, decorated in a lovely style and was spotlessly clean. Shower was great and bed really comfy made for a great night's sleep. All very important to me. The location meant that a walk around Bute Park was easy to access. No noise to speak of from pub below. Good fun and drink finished off my night at Pontcanna perfectly.

Location wise for the orthodontist, brilliant, literally 2 minute walk away. For New Theatre and a restaurant we went to we did have a taxi, only because the weather was rubbish and we were wearing heels. Otherwise from the Inn to New Theatre is absolutely walkable of you are able. Lovely venue, lush staff, just waiting for an excuse to stay again to be honest. The room was beautifully decorated and clean, good value for money, absolutely recommend.

The bed 😂 it was ridiculously squeaky. Myself and my daughter shared a double bed, she slept soundly but everytime one of us moved the bed gave the most horrific groans and squeaks and kept waking me up, but the mattress itself seemed really comfortable otherwise. That was the only thing, but I do tend to toss and turn anyway, and honestly it hasn't put me off I would still stay there again.

Lovely room, comfy bed, sound proof windows, warm, amazing shower, a coffee machine, perfect location. The list goes on. Great staff, fab pub, delicious Sunday lunch, perfect guiness. My best stay in Cardiff yet in 3 years of visiting (I've tried most of the accommodation in cathedral road) this is the best yet!

Check out was 11am and I wanted to leave my luggage whilst I went out(as offered in the property information folder) I also didn't realise the pub below was closed until midday so no breakfast(looked delicious) and I had to carry my heavy luggage around until my train at 1.30pm I did contact the out of hours number given in the room but no reply to text, no answer when I phoned. Didn't even know where to leave the key as exit separate from the hotel /pub entrance

Staff are friendly and accommodating. We arrived early and unable to be check in,they have offered to look after the luggages so we can freely do sight seeing. It is close to the National Express bus station which about 5 min walk. It is near to Places of interest which is a 15-20 min walk to Cardiff Castle, Principality stadium National Museum, and St. Davids Shopping centre. Easy walk to the park(Bute Park) from the National Express bus station Bus stop to access the centre is in front and the water bus station is about 12-15 walk going to Mermaid Quay/Cardiff Bay if you prefer exploring by the bay.

There are no Tesco, Sainsbury or M&S near the pub, so you need to walk to the centre for shops. Though there is a 5-7 min walk towards the petrol station which has a 24 hour convenience store.

Stayed at Pontcanna Inn as we were in Cardiff to see The Darkness at the Arena. Beautiful, large room with a really good sized en-suite. Everything very high-end! The bed was so comfortable and, even though you're above the pub and on a main road, there was no noise at all. We had a really restful night. We had breakfast after check out and it was lovely. Lots of tables were already booked for Sunday lunches, so it obviously gets really busy. I thought that was a good sign and the breakfast didn't disappoint! It's just a short walk across the river and you are back in the hustle and bustle of Cardiff's main shopping area. It was the perfect location for a night away.

The staff were very helpful when we needed anything although the personnel changed quite a bit over the two nights we were there. A couple of them were apparently from another hotel and new to the Pontcanna Inn so unsure where some things were. Surprizingly quiet on the top floor given the busy road the hotel is on.

The radiator did not work and although they provided an electric heater it meant coming back to a cold room as we did not want to risk leaving it on whilst out. It would have been good if that could have been fixed for the second night even if there was nobody up to the job initially.

Well i been staying here on and off .for the last few months on buisness .and its fabulous jaymie and all the team there are excellent people . The inn is just out of the city 5 min easy walk and you are in the heart of city ..the bar / resturant are good it attracts a very nice crowd of people . And when you go to your room its quiet no matter how busy it is .downstairs . I stayed in all the rooms at the inn ..excellent

That the bar closes .before i get.back from been in the city at night. but you cant expect that at 2.oo am in a morning lol

After a long haul flight from Sydney to Heathrow, followed by a coach to Sophia Gardens, we were pretty tired. Although our room wasn't ready the manager, Becky, assured us that it would be prioritised. We went for a coffee and on return were able to check into our room. Becky in particular was great in looking after us for the next couple of nights. It is a room over a popular pub but we slept like babies. No noise from the put below and the room was immaculate with all the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay. It felt like staying with a hospitable host rather than an inpersonal hotel.

Although it's basically a pub, the hotel side of the business was superb. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The room (described as a "cosy double") was small but great for a one night stay. There was a spotless en-suite with a great shower and the bed was extremely comfortable. There is a good choice of bar food. The hotel is in a very plesant location just outside of the city centre and is only a 10/15 minute walk to the centre and is served by a frequent bus service. This is one of the best small hotels that I have stayed in and I would certainly recommend it to others. I will certainly be back on my next visit to Cardiff. I should also add that it is very good value for money.

There was no wardrobe, just a hanging rail, but for my short stay I needed nothing more.
