Cardiff Marriott Hotel

Always loved the Marriott beds and pillows. After giving my views on checking out (Toilet paper was also lacking ) - they did give me a discount. But it was not all about that.

Thought my room was so understated. Disappointed with how it looked. Did not have the WOW factor. Shower over the bath !!!! Was given a room on the 1st Floor, as 2 out of the 3 lifts were broken. Was told I could than walk down the stairs if I wanted to save time waiting on a lift. I decided to try that and it was not as it seemed. Had to Walk to Mezzaine 2, Mezzaine 1, before I reached ground level. I asked a lady on reception in the morning if she had ever walked the stairs and she said no ! - Perhaps they should address this

Room MOO3 was absolutely perfect for us and allocated to us by Caroline on reception who understood my requirements having just had a major op - knee replacement. She is an absolute asset to Marriott hotels Cardiff, for sure. She went far and above and beyond to make our stay special. We will be back for sure. I can’t thank her enough. I would like to say thanks to all the staff we met who were a delight. It’s called going the extra mile. Thank you.

The first room allocated MOO12 on the mezzanine level with filmed out windows and no outlook. An utterly depressing room.

We stayed here for an anniversary & concert at Cardiff castle. The Marriot is an excellent base from which to explore Cardiff central. the hotel itself was clean & modern. the bar & dining area are particularly nice areas to be. there is free wifi available if you sign up to their member website (also free.)

Overall a brilliant stay. The only points I would raise is that our duvet cover wasn't perfectly clean & that the parking can be awkward to find with google maps trying to route you down bus lanes to get there.

We had a lovely stay in the Marriott Hotel, Cardiff. I'm confined to a wheelchair and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially Ella at Reception. They really made our stay a pleasure. The hotel itself is beautifully refurbished and decorated and beds are comfortable. The restaurant, 'Brown's' is good with an extensive menu and seems popular with the wider Cardiff public too. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended.

My only complaint would be the uncharacteristically horrible unbranded instant coffee sachets on the hospitality tray in the room

I loved this stay at the Marriott. Having stayed here before Christmas 2022, I knew how noisy some of the bedrooms are so when I checked in, I asked for a quiet room. I was given a lovely, recently refurbished room on the mezzanine floor. It was very quiet but the only downside is that 3/4 of the windows have privacy glass so you're not able to see out. This didn't bother me as I didn't particularly want to see the roof anyway. Everything about this stay was wonderful, the reception staff, everyone I came across in the Browns bar and restaurant, the food and service was fabulous and housekeeping deserve a special shout out for being so efficient and keeping the rooms so clean. This hotel, in my opinion, is the best in Cardiff for location, cleanliness, friendliness and price.

The lifts didn't work for a couple of days. There was some confusion outside the lifts on the mezzanine floor about how to reach the stairs to get down to Reception due to lack of signage. I did ask staff to maybe put temporary signs up, just to make it easier for guests to find their way down but this was not done.

The hotel is in a great location for visiting Cardiff. I was on the south side so noise wasn't as bad, but you likely will hear some noise from the pubs etc, particularly on the weekend. The toiletries (This Works) were great and added to the premium feeling. The bed was SO comfy, I slept beautifully!

For quite an expensive room, you'd hope the tea & coffee facilities would be more premium - they were acceptable but the only real disappointment. I know some people enjoy instant coffee, I'd quite like a coffee maker OR even coffee bags, they're pretty good.

The hotel is located 5min walking distance from Cardiff train station and right on the city Centre, on the street full of restaurants and terraces. If you're into night life, you don't need to travel - you just need to get out of the hotel and start enjoying... The hotel has it's own stylish terrace a bar and restaurant serving drinks and delicious food full day. The staff is really nice, well trained and very efficient, always smiling and trying to accommodate everyone's needs. The room was large and clean, it has everything you need , although, no desk in our type of room - for those that would have liked to work, there was just a coffee table and an armchair.. We didn't needed, as we've been there for leisure. We liked that we've been able to open the window a bit to have fresh air.. The breakfast was very good with fresh pastries and the posh eggs cooked to perfections.

The air conditioning / ventilation in room was noisy on 1st night when it was a bit too warm and we needed to start it. For next night we have opened the window and it was a lot better.

Great location, few minutes walk from station. Paid more for room as rugby match on, but that was expected. Comfortable bed, nice toiletries, and overall clean. I had room at rear but heard no noise from the station.

Some paintwork scruffy. Bottles of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner attached to wall, but shampoo was also in conditioner bottle. Minor but very easily fixed. A safeguarding issue is that the spy hole in the door is too high.

the location is excellent for making the most of the Cardiff nightlife and the Train station nearby is also a bonus although there is a little noise from the trains at times.

The noise from the renovation work going on made it hard to hear the reception staff when checking in but it was more of a slight annoyance than a big deal. also the smell was a little overwhelming but only affecting the reception area it wasn’t a big deal. Our check out was for 12:00 but at 10:30 the cleaning lady was trying to enter the room and had to be told not to come in. she did knock first though.

Central location. Staff had a professional manner. Comfortable beds. Room was clean and tidy. Plenty of towels. Good food in restaurant. Lovely breakfast on room service

Not enough lighting in room. Too dark. A very light quilt so a bit cold, no extra blankets. No decaff tea or hot chocolate in room. The only things I drink. Very little clothes storage space other than a clothes rail. Unfortunately there is now a nightclub opposite which kept us awake as it didnt close until 4am but I know the hotel has been there much longer than the club as I have stayed there a few years ago. This is a shame.
