Citrus Hotel Cardiff by Compass Hospitality

Overall the hotel was fantastic! The two ladies at reception (one had only been working there for a day) where very friendly and welcoming. So was the breakfast staff. Very accommodating. We didn't expect a little packed breakfast with our bacon and sausage roll. The price of the hotel when thinking its right in the centre of Cardiff was very good. The bed was massive and extremely comfortable.

Hotel could be updated mainly the bathroom. Maybe a little bit of paint. The man on reception (with the glasses) was not the most friendly person. He was rude and carried on talking to his colleagues while checking us out. Didn't really acknowledge us. Just held his hand open for me to hand him the card. And didn't even say thank you.

Great position, only about 10mins walk from the Railway Station. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming and most helpful during my stay. I had a slight problem with the TV and it was fixed immediately for me. I had a comfy, spacious room on the 9th floor with great views across the city. The spacious room was well-equipped with iron & ironing board, a well stocked welcome tray and I was especially pleased to find a slip-mat for the shower! There were good heavy curtains that kept the room dark on light Summer mornings and good quality towels in the bathroom. I heard no noise from other rooms.

It would have been nice to open a window. There were small stains on the two upholstered chairs which might have bothered some people.

Arrived at the hotel and check in was fast and easy...me and my daughter were in cardiff for The 1975 gigs literally across the road which was brilliant......we were in room 304 which was clean and tidy and warm....our room was facing the train tracks which to be fair we didnt hear....there was a tv...and a iron and tea and coffee in the room...the beds were comfy and very clean.....breakfast was a selection of english breakfast and cereal and toast and pastries the lady doing breakfast everyday was very friendly and helpfull (we just wondered if she ever had a day off) 😂😂😂😂 all in all our stay was very enjoyable with restaurants and st David's shopping literally over the road....I big thank you to all the staff including the room cleaning lady who was amazing and removed some our rubbish from our room after a shopping spree.....a big thank you and we will definitely use you again when we are back in cardiff 😁😁😁😁

Everything was really good a few people moaned about dirty rooms in other rooms....our room was spotless and our neighbors room said theres was to 😁😁

The room was clean and had everything we needed. The TV had YouTube, Netflix and all the catch-up channels. The facilities were great, including a kettle and a selection of teas/coffee. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were lovely.

The double bed was two single mattresses put together, it made our night very uncomfortable as we like to sleep together which meant one of us was in a dip in the bed. It wasn't until the next morning that we realized there were zips on the mattress that attached the mattresses together, but that had not been done prior to our arrival. There was also something that clanged throughout the night when there was a large gust of wind that kept waking me up, it sounded like a sign attached to the hotel moving around but I can't be sure.

Great location, easy to find the car park and was able to get a spot also was only 15 which is cheaper than what a lot charge. friendly and quick check In, great view facing the town and motorpoint arena, room had the basics needed such as hairdryer, iron and ironing board, would def stay again

Only issue was it did look a bit worn in place such as cracks in the bathroom wall, dated furniture, however it was signposted when you arrive that the hotel was going through a refurbishment and it didn’t really effect the stay

The room was clean and had a heater so we could keep ourselves warm (very cold in Cardiff in December!). The breakfast offered by the hotel had a good selection, the fry up was kept warm and you could choose between r white or brown bread to toast yourself at your preference. Lots of cereal options, fruit, yogurts, croissants etc. The parking says limited as a first come first served basis on the website but we had no trouble at all for a midweek stay, and for a central location (literally 5 minutes to all of the shops and pubs), it was decently priced at £12 a day/night. Definitely would stay here again!

There was nothing I didn’t like about the hotel but one small thing to take notice of is that the heater in the room is one of those old style ones with metal bars. The bars get very hot and I did burn myself! Obviously this is my own fault for being clumsy and falling into it but perhaps just something to consider finding a shield for/upgrading for the future :)

The Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast was very good, even a good choice for Gluten free, which I am. The beds were very comfortable and the Hotel was very clean and smelt really fresh and Citrusy! Ideal location for visiting the Theatre and shops.

The only complaint we had was that the room was stifflingly hot and air less! The staff had put 2 fans in the room to be fair, so they tried their very best, but you need to either install air conditioning, or change the windows for ones that can be opened in order to let some fresh air into the rooms. The fans were only able to move the already extremely hot air, around the room. This is in no way a fault of the staff, who tried their best to make their guests welcome and were very apologetic about the temperature in the rooms. The dining room by contrast was beautifully cool.

The two reception staff, both Spanish, were very good, very helpful and friendly, even extending to taking our bottle of red across to a nearby bar to pull the cork. So nice. Our two rooms were lovely and light, clean, and the beds were comfortable. Showers good too. The central location, with its own car park, were a real benefit.

Sadly, one of our rooms wasn't up to standard on arrival. However, we were offered choice of two alternatives, and we were very happy with the first one seen.

nice hotel with good sized room , bathroom facilities and affordable parking. also big shout out to the guy who checked us in. he was lovely, polite, super helpful and gave us a bigger room due to the hassle we had previously at the air BnB we decided to leave that same night . so thanks 😁

the room itself was nice , bathroom was however a little dirty and some pieces in the room were broken and need repair ( the mirror on the wall, some surface stuff in the bathroom) but I guess also to be expected for a central hotel

Great location for a one night stay for a concert at the International Arena which was literally across the road. Excellent selection of pre-concert eateries close by. Limited parking but other parking options nearby, e.g. an open air NCP for £18.95 a night (£15.95 if you can get the app to work). Room was large, beds comfortable - bathroom clean although getting towards needing refurbishment. Quiet apart from the occasional rumble from the adjacent railway line - the windows were curiously opaque probably because the view was unremarkable. Breakfast was good without being exceptional - staff very friendly and helpful. Would entertain the prospect of a short stay here again.
