beautiful old building tucked away in Cardiff Bay and the rooms were spacious and decorated with great style. Jacuzzi bath was huge and an unexpected treat, and the breakfast was very good.

on arrival the staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming and demanded to see photo ID. I don’t normally carry anything and explained I’d prepaid the room and was with a party of 8 people for an event there. We then had to listen to a nonsensical tirade about pickpockets- none of which was relevant! awful start, then made more irritating by being presented with a TV remote in a plastic bag which MUST be returned on departure. Really? Very odd experience and not befitting a hotel claiming to be high class.

The hotel is a magnificent old building in the process of being restored. All the rooms are huge. Breakfast was served where the vaults had been when the Exchange was functioning to protect the money exchanged for the deals on coal and steel. The staff are immensely proud of the history of the building, and there are information boards and photos of the Exchange's heyday. The Exchange floor is in a vast panelled hall with chandeliers. The bedrooms are converted from the various offices of businesses that trade on the Exchange. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom - to our surprise - had a jacuzzi bath and rain shower.

The Cardiff Bay area is in the process of being revitalised, and there are a number of buildings that still look a bit sad, but the area is definitely up and coming. The Millennium building is five minutes away and is amazing. There are plenty of places to eat and lots to see.

What a stunning and imposing building! This was my first visit to Cardiff and was delighted to find this hotel on Booking.com. The check-in experience was hassle-free and the staff at the hotel were delightful throughout my stay, particularly the young man at Reception. The bedroom was well-appointed and I loved the jacuzzi bath - an unexpected treat! The bed itself was incredibly comfy and it was lovely to be in a room with so much space. Breakfast was served in the most beautiful setting and there was so much choice on offer for guests. Special dietary needs were catered for impressively. Staff in the dining room were so attentive and made sure that guests were well catered for in the mornings. I would recommend The Corn Exchange as a place to stay for visitors to Cardiff.

The housekeeping in my bedroom was poor. On arrival, I discovered that the toilet seat in the bathroom was broken and that there were some cleaning issues in the bathroom and bedroom. As the cleaning issues persisted, I had no option but to report them to Reception. The young man at Reception made it his mission to capture images of the issues, address them himself and apologise on behalf of the company. I was very impressed by the professional way in which he resolved the issues during my staff.

Staff were really helpful and friendly, nothing was too much. The hotel looks gorgeous throughout and was really clean. Breakfast was amazing so much choice: cooked full English as well as a massive continental. Location was great in regards to the mermaid quay just a short walk down the road, we also walked into town which was a leisurely walk but when got a taxi in the evening it was less than £6 so really reasonable and the hotel have a taxi firm they use where you can get a taxi within 10 minutes.

Our room looked really decadent, however, it was very dark and there was no full length mirror. I overheard another couple saying the same so don’t think it was restricted to our room and sadly not much light coming through the windows as in built up area. They had a few lamps in the room which were really needed and although these issues wouldn’t stop me booking again but I think it is something that needs addressing as I wouldn’t book if I was away with a group of girls. Our room had a wet room which was fine as we did chose a room with disability access so knew this when booking, however, the floor wasn’t very level and the drainage poor which resulted in puddles the opposite side of the room which didn’t disappear unless mopped up with a towel.

Booked this for my fiancés birthday, stayed in one of the president suites and cannot rate these enough! Very spacious room! Huge bed! And also a Spa bath that you can kick back in and have a tin or 2 in absolutely perfect 👌🍺. We ordered some room service in and that did not disappoint either, highly recommend the anti tapas for anyone who is a fan of delicious food because this was 10/10! Had a cracking nights sleep in the gloriously comfortable bed 🛌 we had the choice then of continental and cooked breakfast in the morning which was also really good this was self serving and had very good ingredients not cheap stuff used which is nice to have 👌 good tasting coffee also not that purified junk. Staff were all amazing and could not do enough for us from start to finish!

The heat, despite having 2 fans on and keeping the window open not sure what it was or if it was just the building holding heat but it was roasting.

The room was excellent - really much bigger and better than expected. Two king size beds, a jacuzzi, and some nice antique furniture. The hotel has real character, and the staff were excellent - we arrived at 9.30, intending to drop off our bags and check in later, but the guy on reception allowed us to check in immediately and go to our room. The breakfast was also exceptional - a buffet, but kept fresh and topped up regularly. Nice sausages! The bathroom is also spacious, and the toiletries are good quality. The overall ambience of the public areas is great - the Coal Exchange was, in its day, a monument to the wealth of the city, and that has been well preserved by the current owners.

There's nothing they can do about this, I think, but the stairs are hard work! If you have difficulty with stairs, ask for a ground-floor room. Also, the room got pretty hot, and there's no air conditioning: since it's a listed building, I doubt if there ever could be AC, but there are big fans in the rooms.

Located inan historic building in the bay area of Cardiff, the Coal Exchange provides luxurious accommodation at a price most of us can afford. The entrance set the scene and the staff on reception were all keen to inform us of the history of the building - one of the most important in Victorian Cardiff, if not the world which was so reliant on coal. Due to the size of the building, our room was quite a trek from the lifts and stairs but this just gave us more time to explore the fantastic great hall. The room was extremely comfortable and spacious and facilities were as expected. The breakfast was superb - lots of choice and high quality. One of our friends who was born and brought up in the city was excited to visit the building and the staff were more than happy for us to wander with her to find the historic parts.

If you have limited mobility, ift would be worth requesting a room near to the lifts. Wev didn't mind the walk but some may struggle.

The hotel and restaurant were both great, well decorated and the staff were lovely. The food was to a great standard both for dinner and breakfast! We loved the jacuzzi bath and the room overall was lovely. Really happy with the stay overall and would return and recommend :)

The room could have been slightly better cleaned, dusty headboard and some stray hairs, for example. There could be some small maintenance to keep the decor to a high standard, for example the curtains were partly broken and the seal round the bath frame was on its way out. Also, the towel rail and toilet roll holder should switch positions.

Breakfast was very good large variety of fruit, cereals, pastries, hot dishes etc. The room was spotless. There is a full size spa bath with shower overhead. The toiletries provided are of good quality. Staff incredibly good. The on-site restaurant serves good food in ample proportions. Very well stocked bar. Well positioned - can get to city centre by walking, sea ferry or light rail.

The hotel has great atmosphere. The only thing I found to be a problem was the lack of cooling in the room - but then I feel the heat badly. It was very humid outside and , unfortunately, the fans provided did little to remove the stuffiness.

I stayed here twice during my recent trip to Cardiff and the hotel location is great as nice and quiet & safe ( 24 hr reception staff ) but it is still close to Mermaid quay which can be busy with tourists - staff were amazing , especially Shannon at reception , all staff are very helpful if you need anything , it is 5-10 mins by taxi from Cardiff Central train station Loved the historic building, great buffet breakfast , and great service with pleasant staff . I loved my room , very clean, so spacious , with high ceilings ,nice big bathroom with rain shower , and lovely furniture . Cool enough with a stand up fan , plus tall windows , so nice and bright . There are many restaurants & a few pubs to choose from , small shops etc nearby . You can take the Aqua bus from the waterfront right into Bute Park ( get a little history lesson at the same time ) or Penarth , plus other boat tours . Nice walks also . I would highly recommend this hotel and will return soon !

The only thing would be the wifi sometimes was a bit slow when in my room- but it is a very old building with thick walls , this was not a huge issue for me .
