Holiday Inn Express Cardiff Bay, an IHG Hotel

This hotel is in a great location,you can walk to the bay in about 5mins with all it's restaurants even hop on the aqua bus in to the town centre or a 20min walk in to the centre of Cardiff which has an amazing shopping centre plenty of restaurants,visit the castle or take walk around the lovely Bute park.The holiday inn Express Cardiff has very friendly hotel staff,food was great & room very comfortable.would & will stay here again.

There's only one thing to moan about and that was a fire alarm going off in the early hours!! Not sure why but the hotel staff assured us that all was fine when we phone reception!!

I did not stay for many days as we were only for a concert. I have been in holiday Inn hotels before in England, Wales, Madrid and Cuernavaca ( Mexico )I was surprised restaurant did not gave sweet bread as Danish pasty. Clean room View from restaurant Delicious Cumberland sausages 😋 and bacon 🥓. Great it was quiet so slept very well.

Lift did not work second day. Scrambled eggs. I asked if they have fry eggs. They said no.what a shame as where I live, the Pavilion tea rooms in the Castle Grounds, they offer fry egg instead of scrambled eggs. I found expensive the pizzas. Not many options to have a meal at night. We had only 2 cups instead of 3. I attended with my sister and daughter

It was not a big hotel but I've limes that It had everything you needed.You felt welcome the moment ypu came in.The reception gentleman was so friendly.Everywhere was so clean and sat so fresh.I can honestly say our room was spotless.Couldnt believe how quiet it was.We had a room with a water view lovely.Bed and sofa bed extremely comfortable.Pillows lovely and soft as well as towels.Also Dove bodywash/shampoo which is a rariety.There is a small children's park a few minutes walk away.We went to the Millennium Centre which took us 10 minutes to walk.Breakfast was delicious bacon,scrambled eggs,beans and continental and all hot.Slso noticed a bar snd a terrace where you can sit by the water.

Lovely comfy beds, facilities beautifully clean. All staff were exceptional and a big Thank you to Joanna Way for going above and beyond for us. And Thank you to Tom R on reception for just being lovely. Re coup cafe is a lovely place to chill out and watch the world go by. I think Re coup needs to be advertised more by the hotel staff as it needs more recognition. We will definitely come and stay again. 😊

Nothing really to dislike apart from not being able to park on the first night having paid for parking

Reception was organised and friendly. We were seen and processed quickly. The room was basic and clean. Car parking was £10 a day. Hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the city or Cardiff Bay in the opposite direction. Had a quiet 2 nights stay.

Kettle was not working properly as we had to hold the button down for it to boil. 1 of the windows would not shut. The sink was blocked. All these were reported not long after we arrived but only the sink was unblocked the next day.

It really was a good room and value for money as I was only staying 2 nights. Bed was comfortable and it had everything I needed. As the remote wasn't properly working, staff really helped me out as soon as they could. I also loved the dinner options there.

Not much. I didn't know there were two Holiday Inn's in town. If I'd known I would've maybe gone for the one closer to the city but as I was only there for the weekend, it's not really a dislike, just an observation.

The hotel is well located, being about 20 minutes walk to the city centre and 12 minutes to the Cardiff Bay area. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was warm and light with a view over the water and the double bed was very comfortable and impressively wide. Breakfast was good with some cooked options.

As so often in chain hotels there was only one chair in the room so one person ends up sitting on the bed. There are no shops, cafes or restaurants in the immediate environment, though plenty within a mile.

The location was brilliant, a few steps from Cardiff Bay and an easy walk into the city. Also near Cardiff Bay railway station and the waterbus into the city. The staff were lovely, especially Sabina, who tried really hard to solve any little problems. The hotel was quiet and the room was nice. Parking was plentiful and secure. It wasn't free, but it was worth the cost (£10 per day) Breakfast was good,. Cooked items were limited to bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and baked beans, but there were plenty of different cereals, bread and rolls, croissants, fruit and muffins. I ate in the hotel bar a number of times and my meal was always good, freshly prepared and served hot.

The only think I really didn't like was the fact that there was no boiling water available at breakfast. You CANNOT make a decent cup of tea with 'hot water'. I made tea in my room and carried it down to breakfast, but as a constructive suggestion - why not have one of the little kettles like in the rooms down in the breakfast room so that guests can make proper tea?

Hotel was spotless, desk staff welcoming and helpful. Twin room was comfortable and it was good to find decent shower/hair products in the bathroom. All staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We opted for a taxi to the city centre and the desk staff very kindly ordered this for us.

Nothing that I didn’t like. I chose the property as somewhere to sat for a Coldplay concert when accommodation was really hard to find at a ‘reasonable’ rate.

There were good options for food. Admittedly my room faced the car park so I didn't have the pretty Dock view. The curtains were properly black out. It was convenient for Town and for The Bay. Staff were polite and helpful, especially Liam.

Honestly there's not much to complain about that would be fixable. The lift is a bit small. Might even say it was cosy. More options for the continental items might have been nice. Options of dull cereal vs dull cereal are a bit dull. There was muesli, yoghurt etc, but nothing chocolate. I'm really being picky here for the sake of word count. It was a little more than I'd usually like to pay for a single night.
