voco St. David's Cardiff, an IHG Hotel

The staff: friendly, helpful and very smiley! The views from the room were fantastic. Thd bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was also exceptional.

The bathroom wasnt great: the shower was quite weak and the basin tap was faulty. The balcony was quite dirty and the bistro set was quite rough. The decor was also quite tired - maybe needed some renovation soon.

Lovley hotel in a great position. Surroundings very pleasent and within easy access of Cardiff Bay. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. A bottle of water was also in the room which was excellent.

Although the room was very the nice the bathroom needed some mantinantence. Both bath and sink plug did not retain the water when used. Both seals were brittle and hard hence needed replacing. The flow of water from the sink tap was very poor and that coupled with the plugs made the sink near enough unusable. The Drencher pan shower had no heat control, assume broken, so unusable as water ran constant hot. Bathroom, needs some key maintenance. Apparently the Hotel did own the car parking area at one time. Be aware that now its £24 a night so effectlivly your stay is the room rate plus £24. I think there could be some discount given to the Hotel clients.

Spa pool ( although staff watching men on the monitor jump from jacuzzi into pool several times ) did nothing! Two older couples left as did I .

Air conditioner was running constant making it difficult to sleep . Made up our own beds as the mattress topper was not placed on top of bed but hanging to one side leaving an uneven mattress to sleep in ! ( or rather not sleep ! until it was placed on top and bed made up ) Night cap in bar - 1st night walked into bar man sneezing into hand and continued to pour drinks etc without washing hands . we left without . 2nd night ordered drink standing at the bar to be charged a service charge ! Was told we didn’t have to pay it but he was not paid very much .!!!

Location great, very short walk to actual Cardiff bay. Approx 25mins walk into Cardiff centre. Breakfast was lovely - proper sausages! Lovely fresh pastries and coffee. Room was great - lovely big comfortable bed, nice toiletries in the bathroom, complementary tea & coffee, and botrl of cold water in the fridge. Spa facilities were excellent - very relaxing.

Only thing I would improve would be to have chairs on the balcony. It was a shame not to be able to sit out with a drink and enjoy the view.

Lovely location overlooking the bay, great rooms and the little differences in the room make a big difference. Staff were all excellent and welcoming. Bar and restaurant area the same, stunning views and fabulous staff once again. I can’t fault the hotel one bit. Bed was great for nights sleep. And lots of good choices for breakfast.

Nothing, faultless. If I wanted to be picky. The shower in the room wasn’t ideal for someone over 6ft. And the aircon was loud and could do with being modernised. The doors to balcony from other rooms vibrate through the building but these are really me going to lengths to criticise what was overall a brilliant night’s stay.

Location and views. Staff were friendly and very helpful, bed was incredibly comfortable and we had one of the best nights sleep we’ve ever had. Suite was very spacious and comfortable.

Balcony railings were painted white but had a lot of patches where the paint was flaking off. Terrace railings rusted and degrading in spots too and could not really see through the grates when sat at the small table outside. I did not really go on balcony as I don’t like spiders and there were loads of them; and the glass was quite dirty. Carpet and table had coffee spills/stains on them. One of the glasses for the complimentary water had some crumbs stuck to the bottom of it. With that said, didn’t seem like there was much attention to detail with some of the cleanliness.

Great views over the bay, bed exceptionally comfortable, perfect pillows and duvet, balcony was a great feature. Restaurant great, evening meal was excellent and all the staff throughout the hotel were friendly and welcoming and we could see they were working really hard all the time

Parking was a bit expensive, but central Cardiff is hard to park so we took the option. Electric car charging points need to be painted green and made more obvious as there were a lot of ICE drivers parking there by mistake as the charging points were very difficult to see. One of the chargers is broken and needs repairing.

The hotel is so beautiful, and the stuff were exceptionally good, so respectful and welcoming. The housekeeping was amazing and really looked out for me and my little ones. If there was anything we needed, their cleaning was excellent. I would stay in this hotel again their breakfast was really good too.

Swimming was the worst part of this hotel. Don't get me wrong, everything is beautiful particularly for the adults but it's not catering to the children I still find it weird that the swimming slot for the children is from 6:30 am to 9:30 am while at the same time breakfast is at 6:30 am to 10:30 it was so difficult working around that it felt like a marathon whe still being considerate to the body. The other part was when I did the booking, it was not indicated that they charge £100 per night preauthorisation fee. I prefer to have that information beforehand. Special thanks to Leonisa, Carolina, Araf, or Araj(not quite sure of how to spell his name, but he works in the restaurant) and the housekeepers in charge of my room for taking great care of me and my little ones. ❤️❤️❤️

The room was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfy and we had an amazing nights sleep. The breakfast had plenty of options and was of very high quality. The view was outstanding and the overall hotel was clean, modern and welcoming. Perfect location with everything you could need within walking distance

When we arrived we was checked into a room. When walking into the room there was already a gentleman in the room fixing the balcony. This was a mistake by a gentleman checking us in. However, Jordan went above and beyond to ensure this did not spoil our stay (graduation celebration) and we were upgraded from a junior suite to a signature suite. This topped off our stay and rectified the mistake we had to begin with

Loved the lay out, we stayed on the 7th floor and thr lifts are bullet fast , the view and the walk into the market square.

The right elevator (when you stand with back to lobby)stopped in between floors and the balcony floor could do with a coat of deck paint and a screw or two needs replacing. But that aside . Would definitely stay again. Also cooked breakfast could have alittle more variety as eggs came only scrambled , and sausages could be locally sourced , they felt they came from a packet of 48. But I'm not big breakfast fan , coffee was great. And again view in the dining hall is great. Staff friendly.
