Abbotsford Hotel

This is a great hotel to stay when visiting the area as you have to looking for faults but as usual nothing. The staff are excellent and friendly and very attentive to your needs. We were on a room only so did not try breakfast however we ate in the restaurant in the evening, if breakfast is as good as our meal you will not be disappointed!

It is difficult to fault this place however you can hear road noise but this is out of the hotels hand but if you are a light sleeper take some ear plugs! Two chairs in the bedroom would be an advantage especially as we had a larger room.

We had a lovely overnight stay at the Abbotsford. We were in town for my mother's 80th birthday. The building looks rather unpromising upon external inspection bearing all the hallmarks of 1970's brutalist architecture. My son's partner thought it greatly resembled Schitts Creek. Do not let any of that put you off. Our room was comfortable and very clean. The bathroom was modern and well serviced with toiletries and clean towels. The complimentary tunnocks tea cake and caramel wafer were a particularly nice Scottish touch and such an improvement on the bland lotus biscuits one finds in many other establishments. The staff were very warm and friendly which adds so much to the experience. Breakfast was flavoursome and plentiful with good vegetarian options. The interior of the building had an immaculately preserved retro feel and all told the hotel represents terrific value for money. I recommend this hotel without reservation and we will certainly return.

Nothing. The Abbotsford won me over.

The staff were amazing and we had a really great stay. The food was really delicious, both dinner and the fabulous breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble when we asked any questions and Karen also helped us out with travel directions and timetables instead of our driving to an event. So much easier for us. The hotel has a wonderful staff and it has a lovely family feel to it. It’s also very good value and has plenty of onsite parking.

As there’s a heatwave in Scotland at the moment, our room was very hot. There is no air conditioning, as with most UK hotels but this isn’t normal temperatures so we understand that.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. In particular I would like to mention the two ladies who were on reception and went out of their way to help me find a newsagent who sold a specific newspaper I wished to buy. Another member of staff who impressed me was a young waitress in the restaurant and at breakfast who was always very friendly and cheerful. My dinner was fine and as a single traveller , I liked that the restaurant was obviously popular and buzzing.

The exterior of the hotel would benefit from redecoration.

Great little hotel located in a convenient location to access Glasgow and loch Lomond. I wasn't originally planning on staying here, but due to a mix up with dates at the local premier Inn we had the opportunity to stay here. Appearances can be deceiving and in this case they are. The outside of the building looks to be time warped from the 80s, but don't let this out you off. Inside is a gem of a place with great staff who really gave interest in our two kids. The rooms are connected rooms and booking a family room gave us an interconnected double room and a bunk bed room which the kids loved and we loved too as they could have their own space, own tv and own toilet with shower bath combo. Yes, the place is a bit old here and there, but it has character and you would be hard pressed to find a nicer establishment. Breakfast is also a good price for what you receive. We liked it so much that we ended up extending our holiday by a day and stopping another night so that we could check out more of a part of Scotland that we don't usually end up in that often with us living on the east coast. Oh and free parking too.

The place could do with a little touch up and a pressure wash here and there on the exterior. Nothing about the rooms or the service could be faulted though.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. We had booked a family room and it was a wonderful surprise to find that this room was actually made up of two connecting rooms, so we had two bathrooms, too. We hadn't made a dinner reservation because we didn't know when we would arrive, but we got lucky and they had room for us. Dinner in the pub was very good, as was the included breakfast in the morning.

As with most places there, a fan would have helped keep the room more comfortable at night.

This is a great hotel to stay in the staff are so friendly and helpful nothing's a problem to them they make you feel very welcome and the atmosphere is so homely the food was excellent and reasonably priced you would be pushed to have the three courses and on the breakfast menu was one called the big stoater that would set you up for the day we would gladly stay here again if the opportunity arises

Everything perfect

Very nice hotel, booked a family room which is actually 2 connected rooms. Good in size, big very comfortable beds, an excellent choice for breakfast (you can select one of 8 pre-defined menus). There is also a restaurant and a bar for the evening. Big parking space in front of the hotel. Located just 5min drive from Loch Lomond.

was difficult to open windows due to double frame. Would be an added value of some gaming facilities in the bar area (pool, darts)

Great location easy access to everywhere. Staff were all amazing friendly and professional. Went out of their way to take perfect care of us all. Large spacious room and very comfy bed. Powerful shower and bath too. We ate in restaurant. Good variety on menu and food was delicious. No concerns all six of us full and content. Breakfast was perfect also. Definitely would recommend this hotel.
