No.20 Boutique B&B

From the moment we crossed the threshold of no 20 it felt like we'd come to our home from home. Catherine was most welcoming even though we were a bit early. The house is gorgeous and our room was lovely with a very comfy bed and a little window seat that we took great delight in, soaking in the morning and evening views. If this wasn't enough, we were still treated by amazing breakfasts. Thank you Catherine and Debbie for your friendliness and making us feel welcome.

Cathryn provided us with tea and scones on arrival, and made us very welcome. She was an excellent host. My partner is Chinese so they could speak in Mandarin together. The continental breakfast was fantastic. Directly by the side of a loch. Super location and only a short drive to the town centre. The house was immaculately decorated and furnished. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was fine, but not the best we had in Scotland. View from the room was excellent. Staff was very friendly and included a welcome tea and scones. Wifi in the room was very good. Adjoining bathroom was spacious.

The curtains on the windows did not function well and the room received lots of early morning sunlight. The door on Heron Room stuck on the carpet and was difficult to open. Last morning the scrambled eggs were overcooked. Helensburgh is an uninspiring town, but centrally located.

No20 is by far the best B&B I have ever stayed in - no exaggeration. Catherine and team go above and beyond to cater for their guests, from delicious fresh baking and tea upon arrival, to stunning breakfasts, a beautiful guest lounge, gorgeous bedrooms and all in a stunning location. Catherine was also incredibly helpful and flexible both before and during our stay with additional questions we had. Don't hesitate to book here if you're lucky enough to find that there are rooms available!

It’s location was very convenient, the view from our room was excellent. We had an amazing breakfast: juice, tea and toast, porridge and a choice of main cooked meals. Even though we arrived late in the evening, and later than we had notified because of journey delays, the welcome from the owner was warm, friendly and understanding.

Breakfast was outstandingly delicious - miles ahead of breakfast at any other B&B I've ever stayed at. It was a lovely homey atmosphere, not in any way clinical. The owner was wonderful, and the wee dog (Thistle) was adorable. I really enjoyed my stay, thank you!

I suppose for those wishing to pop out for an evening meal, the house is a little distant from the town centre. On a cold, dark, wildly wet winter's night this is plausable if you have a car and don't mind searching for a parking spot. Better though for a lovely, relaxing summer's evening stroll along the coast!

The location, staff, house and food were all out of this world, nothing was too much trouble and April, Thistle and Debbie were so, so welcoming. We had the best night sleep in a bed that felt like a cloud! Everything was very clean and had all the things you could need, for example, iron, hairdryer, tea/coffee etc. The views are wonderful. The hosts were the best we've ever had, very genuine, friendly, caring and hospitable and make you feel so welcome. Very generous, delicious, homemade breakfast and you will not leave feeling hungry, stunning decor and lots of homely, quality touches that make it luxurious. We will definately be back and will find any excuse, what a way to relax and enjoy Helensburgh and Scotland itself. Great distance from the main street which has lots of choice foodwise. Thank you for making our stay very special indeed. We loved it.

Location was great, very close to the sea and only a mile to Helensburgh centre. Room was clean and tidy. Staff were very kind and friendly, tea and a scone was provided on check in. Breakfast was also delicious, hot and well presented.

It was clearly an old building with creaks and noises from other guests moving around or opening wardrobes/doors etc, however this was not an issue for the most part, and didn't affect our great night's sleep. Parking can be a little bit of an issue.

We had the most wonderful greeting at no.20. The guest house is just a 10 minute walk from Helensburgh town centre so very quiet. The food offerings in the town are first class (I recommend The sugar boat, River Hill and the pizza in Riva. Our room wasn't en-suite but we had a private bathroom (plenty of hot water for the bath)! The room was very tastefully decorated had a super king sized bed and had a nice view over the water. The staff were an absolute credit, super friendly, helpful and cook a delicious breakfast. I really can't fault No20 we will be back next time we find ourselves in Helensburgh. Thanks to the 20 team!

The room was far bigger that we anticipated and overlooked the water. We like birdspotting so were able to do this from the bedroom window! Attention to detail in the room was wonderful and the bed was the most comfy bed I have ever slept in! There's also a lovely dining room and lounge, with free whisky and sherry. Very novel when you're on holiday, and well enjoyed! We'd have used the outside area, which was well decked out too if it wasn't raining! We were checked in by April, who was very attentive. She provided us with dinner recommendations on request, which were great (we went to Cattle and Creel). As we were heading off early the next morning, we didn't stay for breakfast so April made us a packed lunch, which was very much appreciated, and very tasty! Also, bonus points for having a cute little Scottish Terrier, Thistle!
